Before you ministered to us, my wife and I were totally burned out after fourteen years of ministry.
Dear Brother Jerry,
Since you have been very busy with the crusade at Fairwood Assembly, there seems to be no time for catching up with each other. It was difficult to put together all of my thoughts and update you about what the Lord has been doing at New Star Christian Fellowship since the Lord touched us almost one year ago. Our lunch together was a wonderful surprise (thank you for it), but there seemed so little time to really share.
First, I want to express our gratitude to you and our deep affection for you because of the profound changes that have happened to us. The Lord has really put you in our heart. We have put you up in our prayers almost every day since you left Covington Christian Fellowship.
Before you ministered to us, my wife and I were totally burned out after fourteen years of ministry. Three months prior to meeting you, we sorrowfully gave the Lord six months to change things or we were ready to quit the ministry. Working full-time at a secular job, raising a family, and a church, all at the same time, was taking a terrible toll on us. We were 3 months into that 6 months when you introduced us to the "anointing" of the Lord. It truly was like discovering streams in the desert. Now it would take death to remove us from serving the Lord Jesus. We are truly "fired up" in the Holy Ghost!
I want to give you a partial list of some of the good things that have happened to us because of your work for the Lord. The list includes:
>The woman, who was literally dying before our eyes because of Temporamandibular joint problems, was healed by God in your meeting
>The woman who had lived in deep depression for about a year because of the loss of her baby in the third month of pregnancy. Lots of intense, time- consuming counseling had accomplished almost no change. Finally, under the direction of the Holy Spirit, I prayed specifically that the Lord would give her a vision of her baby in heaven. Within 24 hours, she had a dream that showed her baby in heaven under God's care. She was gloriously released from depression.
>The whole church was renewed spiritually and entered into a new dimension of the power of the Spirit. Answered prayers came in an overwhelming and encouraging swarm. The gifts of the Spirit were released in a way I'd always hoped they would be. Dreams and visions come to adults and children. Sounds like Joel chapter 2, doesn't it?
>Marriages were revitalized and restored. One couple that came to us as separated, after a short time with us, got back together again. Relationships between parents and children were healed and made vital.
>Physical healings as a result of our prayers were, and still are, a common feature in our church life.
>One woman, her broken toe healed by the laying on of hands, the next morning displayed "stagmata" in the palms of her hands. We took it as a sign that she had the gift of healing and we had her lay hands on others, who were then healed.
>Deliverance from the demonic happened for the first time in our church history.
>Faith expectancy became the climate and the atmosphere we live and breathe in.
>Giving in our church increased and released a new prosperity for the church.
> The pastor, his wife, his family, and his church all felt they had stepped into the foyer of heaven.
The presence of the Holy Spirit also brought us into the light of God's holiness and there is the place some had real difficulty. Some did not want to enter into the realm of the Holy Spirit and wanted to hold onto a religious spirit. Swept houses became reoccupied by seven times more nasty critters. I'm sure you are familiar with some of the naive results because you covered some of them in your message "The Price of the Anointing."
Looking at the positives and the negatives, I realize that there is no contest here. The benefits gloriously outshine the negatives by far. Needless to say, we wouldn't trade where we are for where we were. God has answered the prayer of our hearts and granted us permission to enter into His presence. We are glad and rejoice during our waking moments and even in our sleep!!!
Thank you, dear brother in Christ. We love and thank God continually for your faithfulness to Him. We pray that nothing ever detracts from your simplicity and humbleness and power in Jesus Christ
Your brother in Christ
