Isaiah 58:6
[Is] not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

God Saved My Son David
Posted by: Jerry Gaffney on Tuesday, June 04, 2002 - 10:00 AM
I want to take this time to thank all of you who have been praying for me and my family. One of the most precious gifts the Lord can give any parent is to see their children come to the Lord and get good-saved. My 25- year old son, David, came to the meetings in Quilcene.

This was a news article I wrote when my son David got saved

PRAISE THE LORD!

MY SON DAVID GOT SAVED &

FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
I had asked him Saturday night if he wanted Jesus in his life. He gave me an answer that struck me to the bone. He said, "Dad, I don’t want a new value system in my life. I am having a hard enough time keeping the one I have. I don’t want to exchange my value system for yours." Well, I want you to know I cried all that night. I realized that I had failed my Jesus, and my son, by not showing him the real Jesus. He thought serving Jesus was nothing more than some kind of rules and regulations that no one could keep. I had failed to show my son the love and wonder of, "What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bare. What a privilege it is to carry every thing to God in prayer." I rose early in the morning, went into the woods, and cried for hours. I cried to Jesus and He gave me the sermon for that Sunday morning.

"We are saved by grace, not rules and regulations. You can keep all the rules and still go to hell.

You can break all the rules and still go to heaven. But, if you keep breaking them, on purpose, they may keep you out." I preached my heart out that Sunday. David sat on the third row. I asked if he wanted Jesus in his heart and he took that first step to finding Jesus as his friend. He said, " Dad, I want to find Him slowly." Thirty other people ran to the altar for salvation that day. He later came to Evergreen Christian Center in Vancouver, WA. There, he saw Jesus for the first time as his Saviour. Below is my David being baptized in water. He was so overcome by the power of the Holy Spirit, when he entered the water, he could not stand. It was as if he was hit by a bolt of lightning. He had to be carried out of the baptismal tank after his old sins were washed away. My old David died that day, and Jesus made him all new. In a matter of a few days, David was saved, baptized in the Holy Spirit and baptized in water. In Dec, he went on a missions trip to Haiti! Wow, what a year! He even preached his first sermon this year. Fifteen people ran back to the Lord at the altar call.
