Pastor John Thuringer about what has happened so far
Posted by: Jerry Gaffney on Saturday, June 08, 2002 - 06:49 AM

The people poured into that church. There was no advertising, no news papers, no TV or Radio; just word of mouth and one letter we sent out to the people in the area. People and pastors poured in from a five-state area. We had Baptist pastors, Methodist pastors, Assembly of God pastors, First Christian Church pastors, Mennonite pastors, and pastors from many independent churches. The outpouring of unity among the churches in the area was almost historic. The hunger in the area for the Lord to touch his people has almost never been this great. We have seen people running to the altar asking the Lord to either touch them or their families, from all walks of life and almost all denominational backgrounds.

My Dearest Friends:

It is with great delight that I come to you today to report on the Regional Gathering we had last Friday, the 22 of February, at Central United Methodist Church in Dalhart Texas.
We had been praying for a long time for the Lord to show us what He wanted to do, and boy did He! Pastor Jeff Taylor had invited us from Dumas Christian Center to hold our Friday gathering at his church in Dalhart. Some were not really sure what would happen. Would the Holy Spirit move in the same powerful way, as He had in the last ten weeks of revival services at Dumas Christian Center? Well, I want to tell you, I don't think anyone in town believed what the Lord was about to do.

A young man had tried to commit suicide by hanging himself the other day. When the noose he made to hang himself broke he laid on the floor in despair. His sister felt compelled to go to his apartment and check up on him. Realizing the state he was in, she made him come to the meetings. There he found Jesus and he is in the process of realizing Jesus is the answer. Another young man, who was jailed for drug possession and had lost all hope, was brought to the meetings. After Jesus touched his heart, he now wants to go into the ministry instead of jail. My God is an awesome God!

Did not Jesus say the world will know we are Christians by our love? Is not this what the world is looking for, when the whole body of Christ can come together and feel at home? Pastor Jim Loper has asked us to join him with our regional gathering on his 15th year anniversary at Cornerstone Church in Borger, this Friday, the 1st of March, 2002. So if you are hungry to see the Lord do something new in your area and you have been praying for something to happen, this is your day! People have said you can't do this, you can't move a meeting from city to city or from domination to denomination or from church to church. I don't believe that, I really believe there are hungry people out there who want to see the Lord touch their churches and towns.

We would count it an honor to have you with us at "The Gathering" this Friday, March 1st, at the Cornerstone Church in Borger. Join us at 7:00 P.M. as we pray for a window in heaven to open and a blessing to be poured out on all our communities. Don't miss this great opportunity to be part of church history in our area!
May the Lord bless you,
Pastor John Thuringer
