Additional Information: MINISTER - Here are just a few things you can do to minister to God. Worship and praise the Lord for Who He is (Ps. 100). Spend time daily in His Word (Josh. 1:8; Jer. 15:16; Ps. 119:18). Spend daily time in prayer (Lu. 11:28; Matt. 13:23; Mar. 4:20; Lu. 8:15). Here is an example of how you can use scriptures in your prayer life: Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, my heart’s desire is to be fruitful for You. Your Word says that I did not choose you, but You have chosen me. You ordained me, that I should go and bring forth fruit, and that my fruit should remain (John 15:16). In order to be fruitful, I must have listening ears and a good and honest heart. So I ask, in Jesus’ name, for listening ears and a good and honest heart. Let not my heart be drawn away after the lust of other things today. Father, I also ask for an understanding heart, to know what to do with what I hear, and receive into my heart. Thank You, for hearing my prayers... SANCTIFICATION, SANCTIFY - To purify or make clean. Sanctification can be illustrated by using a clean linen napkin that has been set aside (consecrated) for use at an expensive restaurant. Like us, the napkin is special and is set aside for a unique purpose. However, if the napkin is sneezed on, or if it falls to the ground, it becomes dirty (unsanctified - as we do when we sin). In order to be restored, it must be made clean (or sanctified). Then it is ready to fulfill its purpose again. Father, in Jesus’ name, I ask that You would make me a holy (clean) vessel for the Holy Spirit to move through me today. Now that you have completed the Purpose of the Anointing, it’s time to look at your relationship with God. 1 - Using a separate sheet of paper, write down your testimony. When did you "die" or "get saved"? What did God save you from? When were you filled with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues? Describe that experience. Have you learned the joy of speaking in your heavenly language on a daily basis, and discovered the strength that comes as a result? 2 - Write about your current walk with God. How much time do you spend daily in the Word, in prayer, and in worship and praise? Or, do you? Have you discovered the delight of the Living God speaking to your heart through His Word, or are you eagerly awaiting that wonderful moment? Describe your current way of reading the Word. Do you have a specific plan for reading through the Bible? If so, do you follow it? Describe your current times of prayer. Daily? Hit and miss? Is praise and worship a part of your life on a daily basis, or is it limited to church services? 3 - on the same sheet, write about the changes you need to make so that ministering to God becomes your first priority. Ask the Lord what He would have you do each day to begin focusing on Him first. For some, it may mean setting your alarm a few minutes earlier, DAILY, so you can minister to God. For others, it may mean beginning to read a couple of chapters DAILY in Genesis or Matthew - continuing on until you finish the whole Bible. For others, it may mean adding a time of praise and worship as you minister to God - without others or instruments. A "Love Gift" brochure is enclosed to help you begin your first "ministry" - yes, it IS a ministry! Read and pray through the portions DAILY. 4 - It’s time to mail your assignment to us. An envelope is enclosed for you to use. This will help us "get to know you", as we would if we were in a class setting. This assignment will be returned to you towards the end of this course. At that time, we will ask you to update your paper, describing the changes God has begun to work into your life. 5 - BEFORE you begin the next lesson, spend a week or two putting into practice your new ministry - ministering to God on a DAILY basis. You may want to keep a journal to chart your journey. If you are going to spend time in the presence of the Living God, it won’t take long for Him to begin speaking to your heart - through the Word, through prayer or worship. Because God is speaking to you, it makes sense to write it down. You’re beginning an incredible journey - ENJOY! 
God created us to minister to Him. By the time you finish this complete lesson, get on your knees and pray, "Okay, God, where do I fit in? How do I minister to You?" To minister to God takes various forms. In the Old Testament, the ministers offered up the sacrifices. They presented the petitions for the people. David actually started twelve choirs that ministered to God in song 24 hours a day. When the ministry of worship was alive in the kingdom, they always had two generations of complete blessing. So, you can minister to God through worship. You also minister to God through tasks. Between each sacrifice, the altar had to be cleaned, so there was a lot of laundering to be done - and a lot of garbage to be taken out. That was also a part of the ministry to God. So, ministering to God is not just preaching, but is also assisting the ministers who are proclaiming the gospel. Ministering to God includes feeding on the Word of God daily. It also includes worship daily. After ministering to God, we have a divine destiny, daily, of preaching the gospel to the poor. So, you will be looking for someone who needs to hear the good news of the gospel daily. It’s so easy to become lazy, or become afraid, and get away from that destiny. Look for your divine destiny daily of the miracle of sharing, of proclaiming the good news to someone. That’s preaching the gospel to the poor. It doesn’t have to be in a congregation. There are churches, with 200 or more people, that have gone a year with no salvations in the church. God wants us to reap in His harvest field everyday. So, how much more could we proclaim the gospel! Ministering to the Lord is done daily. The burnt sacrifice, given to show us a pattern, was made daily. The praise offering was made daily. God says, in Isaiah 42:13-16, that He will stir up His jealousy for us. If we sing and praise and commune with Him everyday, not only will He stir up His jealousy for us, He will roar against the enemy. He will fight against our enemies. He will destroy our enemies, and He will go before us. He will make any giant problems, any big mountains tht we have, come low. He will make crooked things come straight when we minister to Him. Any battles that we have to fight, we fight in praise. We fight in prayer. We fight in the presence of God. When we do, God goes before us. What we do then is enjoy the victory, and give Him praise. Many people, including many ministers, have not been ministering to God. It’s easy to get caught up with daily activities. A car breaks down. Children get sick. The roof leaks. "Well, we’re too busy!" Of course, when trouble comes, we have a lot of time. It’s better to minister to God in front of a problem, instead of after a problem. Your first assignment is to begin to minister to the Lord. A "Love Gift" brochure is included. This is to help you on a daily basis. It is called a love gift of the bride, preparing for the presence of Jesus. Look up each verse, as you begin to use the guide. (It is only an outline - not a legalistic, check-off list.) The average person spends less than three minutes a day in real prayer. Some people say, "My whole day is a prayer", but time is needed to sit quietly in His presence. Take time for praise and worship - and, of course, repentance. Then, it’s time to feed on the Word of God - eat something to feed your spirit. Exercise, to make your spirit strong, by praying in your heavenly prayer language - tongues - daily. When you finish, you’re ready to exercise by sharing the gospel with someone. So, you will prepare for His presence, feed on His presence, and exercise. You will exercise by demonstrating the power of the Holy Spirit. Let Jesus speak through you, and let the power of the Holy Spirit come. As soon as the Holy Spirit sees Jesus working, He starts moving, and lives are changed. As that happens, your eyes will be opened to see the goodness of God. And, you will want to stay clean. Your next assignment is to MEMORIZE Romans 12:1,2. (A sheet is included with your memory work for each lesson.) For further study: It’s always a good idea to see what God’s Word has to say about a word or a topic. It will prove very helpful to find out what God has to say about being a "minister". This list can be gone through a little at a time - spread it out over the entire course. 
How well we remember the very first time a copy of these papers was placed in our hands. We had been having services for about four months, and had just arrived the night before our First service in Blaine,WA. As the pastor climbed into the car with us, he handed a simple Photocopy of something called "The Azusa Papers". He explained that there was no copyright On them, and suggested that we may want to have a copy made for ourselves while we were in Town. It’s impossible to forget the first experience of reading descriptions of a mighty move of God in Los Angeles, CA in 1906. God had been moving mightily in our services for several months, and our hearts were in awe. When the Holy Spirit begins to move, something happens! Salvations... healings... deliverances... infillings of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues...marriages Restored...families restored...and, many different manifestations. There are also a lot of Questions! After praying many years for a mighty move of God, many rejoiced greatly. There were also those who were firmly convinced that God stopped moving in such ways during New Testament times. There were even those who attributed this to satan. A few pointed out that such things had never happened before, so it couldn’t possibly be God. Perhaps, you can imagine the kind of questions that we brought to the Lord.
