Deputies Search for Missing Liberty Co. Toddler

Sheriff's deputies are looking for a missing toddler in Liberty County. Early Saturday afternoon, two and a half year old Taylor Berry disappeared from her grandparents' home on Isle of Wight Road near Midway. Taylor was watching cartoons in her grandparents' living room when she simply disappeared.

"We didn't hear a door open or anything," explained her grandmother, Anna Carter. "I went in my bedroom to change my bed sheets and when I came back, she was gone."

The family immediately called the Liberty County Sheriff's Department. Deputies and detectives brought in K-9 units to search the grounds and divers to scour a nearby pond. A helicopter with special equipment used to detect body heat continued to pass overhead, but still, no sign of Taylor. Her family tearfully sits by, waiting for any word.

"I just want someone to find her," sobbed her other grandmother, Carolyn Helmey.

Police are not giving up their search for Taylor, saying they'll stay through the night, if necessary. Family members simply want her home.

"She's our Taylor," added Carter. "We love her and we need her. We can't go on without her."

If you have any information about Taylor's whereabouts, call the Liberty County Sheriff's Department at (912) 876-2131 or call 911.
