Then said his servants unto him, What thing [is] this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, [while it was] alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.

The End of Innocence
Posted by: ksommers on Friday, March 25, 2005 - 12:51 PM
The end of innocence.
Nathan Baird went on a road trip with a killer, not knowing that he had stabbed someone to death just a few hours earlier. The previous DA promised that if Nathan passed a polygraph, she would dismiss the charges. Nathan has passed three polygraphs so far to prove his innocence. The new DA, John Newsome, recently promised Nathan the same thing. Now Mr. Newsome has reneged on his promise and is trying to pressure Nathan into pleading guilty just to something -- to anything -- to save their face within the publc eye.

Read the story. It is heart-wrenching. Nathan basically kept his cool, as did Ashley Smith, who rendered her assistance to bring Brian Nichols to justice. Nathan helped to bring another killer to justice, and is now being prosecuted for it.
