Please pray for me
Hello all,
I am coming onto this forum trying to set myself straight. In my life I have all the things I could ever want, a family that loves and cares about me more than anything and a Fiancée that means the world to me. I don't think that by any means I am a bad person, or purposely go out and do bad things. I just want to make sure my life is going where it needs to go. I grew up in the Church and was active in Youth Group and went to retreats and would get the spiritual highs, but haven't really attended any Church regularly during college. I've done the drinking thing, I've done the party thing, but I am striving for more. I know that ultimately what it is, is God. But in my own mental demise, have taken myself back from and specific denomination as I can't figure out what is working for me. I know that a God exists out there, I get blessed by him daily. My problem is that I don't give him the respect and praise I should each day. I want to change it though. I need a prayer that I can say every day. One that says, "God, I'm done living my life solely for myself and want to do things in your name." ...Writing that last sentence (don't even know why I am admitting it) brought tears to my eyes. I guess my opening line is wrong then. I don't have everything because I can't feel the closeness with God anymore. If anyone please has any wisdom or prayers they would be willing to say for me I would greatly appreciate it. I don't want to feel like my prayers are because they 'are the right to do.' I want to find it in myself where my prayers are because I just want to praise God all the time. Thanks in advance everyone. |

CollegeGuy-
There have been several times thru out my life, when God put it on my heart to change one or a number of things at some specific moment. I obeyed and sought God when needed to help me carry each one thru. It did not happen over night, but over years, taking one step at a time, dealing with one orm more aspects God lead me to change as He worked to bring me more into the person He wanted me to be individually. He will do the same for you. What happened that other nite is just "proof in the pudding" - (confirmation), God is with you working to help you and your life be improved thru growing closer to Him. God Bless!!

But were you truly ever saved and reborn in Jesus Christ? Going to McDonalds doesn't make you a Big Mac, and going to church doesn't make you a Christian -- a follower of Christ. Until you are truly a "follower of Christ" it will be difficult to change any of these things. Jesus told all whom He asked to follow Him to leave it all behind as in "Let the dead bury their dead, but you come and follow me" or he told the other man to forget saying goodbye to his mother and father and just follow Him. In other words, we leave the stuff of this world behind to follow Him. The Bible says a good soldier does not become entangled with the affairs of this world. And Jesus said once we put our hand to the plow, we are not to look back. So you have to realize a relationship with God is not a partly in the world/partly in the Kingdom affair. Either your IN or your OUT. There is no being in both. The pull of the world will be too strong, and you will end up continuing to disobey God.
Now, I am not talking about someone who sets out to follow Christ and falls into sin at times. This happens to all of us. It happened to the disciples, who left their professions the minute Jesus said, "Follow me." But I am referring to someone who tries to follow Christ and the world both at the same time. You will love one and reject the other if that's the case. Of course, on our path to becoming more Christ like, we will have struggles. We will be tempted to sin, and, at times, we will give in. But there is forgiveness in God and getting right with Him again and moving on in relationship with Him. What I would like to know is: Are you spending time with Him developing a deeper and stronger relationship? Spend time praising Him, praying to Him, reading His Word, time just BEING in His Presence. If you are not working on a better relationship with Him, then I question if you ever truly MET Him. Someone who truly meets Jesus in a life changing way will want to know Him MORE. And they will endeavor to know Him more as each day goes by. Again, there may be times of temptation and falling to sin...and then, we come to Him for forgiveness and know Him more as our Savior who pardons and forgives. But, in your over all life, is it your desire to know Him? And following that, your desire to please Him? I pray, Lord, that You will show CollegeGuy Your wonder and glory, so that he will never again want to try to serve two masters (the world and God). Draw him to You in total devotion and love. I pray, Jesus, that You are his FIRST LOVE from this day on and always! I pray he bows and makes You Lord. May he turn every area of his life over to You. I ask and pray, in Jesus Name, amen.
