Subject: FCC Consumer Center response from representative TSR61
You are receiving this email in response to your recent inquiry to the
FCC.
Hello Mr. Mister,
The Federal Communications Commission
examined the complaint
filed by the Parents Television Council
concerning remarks from a performer on the Golden Globe Awards show.
We concluded in Memorandum Opinion and Order DA 03-3045,
that the various licensees who aired the program on January 19, 2003,
did not violate obscenity or indecency law.
The performer used a crude and offensive word,
but in the context
as presented in the complaint,
did not describe sexual or excretory organs or activities.
Rather, the word was used to emphasize an exclamation.
In similar circumstances,
the Commission has found that offensive language used as an insult,
rather than as a description of sexual or excretory activity or organs
is not within the scope of the prohibition of indecent content.
The Federal Communications Commission by this decision,
does not approve or condone the use of crude and offensive language in broadcast programming.
The use of such language (the "F") is not in and of itself indecent speech regulated by the Commission.
We do not have the power of censorship;
that responsibility is up to the broadcast networks and stations themselves.
Thank you for contacting the FCC,
My God if the "F" word is not indecent What IS?
Has David Solomon lost his mind.
We need to pray for this man

Father, please lead David Solomon into a Salvation Relationship with Jesus. Show him the reason we feel this word and others are indecent. Make him hunger for Your truth, Your purity, Your righteousness and Your Wisdom as he does his job and lives his life amid the spiritual squalor of Washington DC. Thank You Father! I ask this in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
