A type of inspirational poem I wrote a few months ago for my creative writing college class, thought I might share.
“Because of Thee”: by Mary Templeton
In a valley of unforgotten dreams
Lives threaded together by strong seams
Like only yesterday we were one
Two souls, bonded, broken by none
Weathered us two, the storms that came
Beaten and battered you still knew my name.
How is it then that you expect me to forget?
A life I’ve lived without exception or regret
The forecast predicts the future will be bright
Your force will be my guiding light.
Hallowed be your memory
And the lessons I take, in honor of thee.
Without you I could only reckon
That life would just not have beckoned.
To recollect what resounds through hollow halls
Is to accept what remains on naked walls.
A ransom set forth by a higher authority
The memories that still fill the majority
Of my longing soul.
I am but one who chooses to reflect
Yet, will never interject
Everything you meant to me
All that I have
All that I ever will be
Because of thee.
