PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER
REQUESTS FOR
DECEMBER 5, 2003

Continue to pray for the President’s efforts to help create a free and peaceful Iraq. With the assistance of other nations, support is building, but much still remains to be done. Pray especially for the President and his advisors in their communication with the members of the Iraqi Governing Council as they determine the values that will guide the new government.

As the anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day approaches on December 7, give thanks for the freedom we enjoy in America, hard fought and hard won by America’s veterans.

Pray for the United States Supreme Court as it hears the first cases regarding the prisoners held at the U.S. Navy Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Pray for God’s wisdom for the justices as they decide whether these prisoners, rounded up in the wake of the September 11 terror attacks, will have access to United States courts.

Pray for the members of Congress as they enjoy recess until next week. Pray for safe travel, refreshment and wisdom from God.

Pray for the family and friends of the victims of the September 11 terror attacks. Pray for their comfort and strength as they face their third holiday season without their loved ones. Continue to pray that those who perpetrated the attacks will be brought to justice and that God’s comfort and will be with all who hurt.

Give thanks for the success of the President’s visit to the troops on Thanksgiving Day—that no person’s security or safety was compromised, particularly the Commander-in-Chief’s—and that the important message of gratitude and support was conveyed to the valued members of our military. Continue to pray for the protection and safety of the troops, and that God will grant them success and favor in every effort.

Pray for a safe and accident free holiday season. As the President prepares to declare National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month pray that Americans will exercise caution and refuse to drive while impaired, protecting the lives of untold numbers of citizens.

Pray for the President as he welcomes Rolandas Paksas of Lithuania to the White House on December 8. The two leaders will discuss the rebuilding of Iraq and key regional issues in Europe. Pray also for the President as he meets with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao of China on December 9, 2003. They will discuss concerns of mutual interests to both nations
