Pride

Why do we think pride is a good thing? Proud to be an American. Proud of my family. Proud of my new truck. Proud of my kids. I am real proud of the job you have done here.
Proverbs 29:23 "A man's pride will bring him low."
Proverbs 16:18 "Pride goeth before destruction."
"and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands. And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust." Isaiah 25:11
What about the bumper stickers? Billboards? Am I off base here? Are we in big trouble?

Hmmm not sure on this one, but is it Self Pride or Pride in general that is warned against. If our children do something good like achieve good grades, what emotion are we to have? Also do we today know what pride is truely describing, like love, we call so many things love which really arent love at all. I know that pride has been related to being haughty or high minded, but is that the same as having a good sense of self?
