"You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. "

It doesn't say:

"You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it some day when the time has come."

So why do I not recieve the Holy Spirit when I ask for it ?
I know that we cannot get everything immediately just because we come to God and rely on John 14;14. Hey God, I want a new car, right now cause John 14;14 says it. Thank you. I understand that, but why can't I get a breakthrough when I ask for it and rely on John 14;14 ?

The only thing that I would say is this... check your motives for wanting the Holy Ghost.

James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

I remember when I first started seeking the Holy Ghost, I wanted the power, I wanted to speak in tongues... but this is not what the Holy Ghost is.

The Holy Ghost is a person... the third person of the Trinity. He is so much more than tongues... He is my comforter, my teacher, my guide and so much more. Tongues although is one of the evidences that one is filled with the Spirit... is not the most important characteristic of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a person and the anointing is his personality.

The words "anointing" and "unction" both come from the Greek word "Charisma". It's meaning, a smearing, rubbing or endowment. Literally means to smear on, overshadow or paint over.

When one is filled with the Holy Ghost - his personality begins to make a change in this persons life... the Holy Ghost begins to anoint, or paint you. It is His personality overshadowing you, clothing you with His virtues, His character and His power rather than your own.

This is the most important thing... not speaking in tongues, or a spiritual high... but rather, that He is allowed to clothe you with His personality.

And in order for this to happen, you must become "humble" ... submitting your will to His... you no longer have an agenda, it's now His agenda... and you are totally submitted to what He wants... rather than what You want.

Wow, I feel like just now as I was typing this... someone was reading and they all of a sudden understood ... and they just received the Holy Spirit into their life! Thank You Father for filling.

Frederik... the most important thing you can do right now... is humble yourself before God. Do not allow "Pride" to rob you of this wonderful blessing that God has prepared for you and sent to you in the person of the Holy Ghost.

Um, I want the Holy Ghost because:

1) I want to experience God
2) I want to be cleaned & get rid of all sinful things which still affect me and which I cannot get rid off on my own, I have to be transformed by the Holy Spirit
3) God to reveal himself and show me his love
4) I just wanna know how God is and I want to be close to him

Is this selfish ?

I did not mean to imply that you were selfish, simply was just asking you to check your motives.

Because there was a time when mine were all wrong as I stated in the last post... I wanted the tongues, power... I didn't care anything about the person of the Holy Ghost, nor any change that He would make in my life.

Many times, when we do not receive it could be because of our motives... also, there could be a "hindering" spirit delaying God's promise to you... read my post to Jerry in the "What am I doing Wrong" thread.

Hang in there - God will send reinforcements as He did with Daniel if He has to in order to get the answer to you.

Of course the tongues would be the icing on my cake, but I simply want to get on the next level. I mean I finally wanna see God or whatever he wants to show me. I wish he'd just knock me off and take me on a little trip. This would be cool.

Do you attend church anywhere? Is there a Spirit filled church near where you live there in ... I believe it's Germany... correct?

You need to be around other believers, who can pray with you, and encourage, and give you instruction in person.

It really would do so much for you.

No, not in my town. My church is dry, really dry. There is nothing at all.
But I have also visited charismatic sermons a few times but I also didn't experience anything.
