Jerry's trip to Africa update thread

Hello
This is Shawn, Jerry's son. First I would like to take a minute and thank each and everyone of you that have been praying for this revival in Africa. A special thank you goes out to everyone who sent in a donation in order to help support the trip.
I will use this thread for the next few weeks to give updates as to how the trip is going when I am able to get word from dad. He will arrive in Paris France later this evening and fly right out to Legos Nigeria. He should arrive in Nigeria on Friday around 5pm. I believe by then the entire team will have arrived with the exception of my brother Steve, and his pastor, who arrive on Sunday.
I am not sure how often I will be able to get ahold of dad while he is there, but as I do I will post the great news that I'm sure he has to share. I sent a large amount of camera and video equipment with the team, so that if they are not able to reach us while they are in Nigeria, we will have a tremendous amount to share when they return.
I will also try and reach the church itself to find out if the internet broadcast equipment arrived there and is ready to setup for us to broadcast live on this website. There are few datails about this at this moment, as it is tremendously hard to reach anyone there via phone.

Please keep Jerry and the entire team in your prayers over the next few weeks. The battle will be huge, but the victory is emminant, as I am sure hundreds of thousands, if not millions, will be touched and saved in this revival. I know that dad feels it quite an honour to even be invited to speak, and with your prayers he'll bring the fire back home with him.

Just a quick update as I only got about a one minute call from Nigeria today.
The entire team has arrived safelly and are out at the church, which is about 30 miles outside of Legos in Lbadan.
On Saturday Jerry was with Reinhard Bonnke. There were about 400,000 people in attendance.
On Sunday Morning Jerry spoke at a neighboring church of about 30,000 people.
I do not have details of the services yet, they just said it was amazing.

The main services start on Monday Dec 15th, so the first service is now underway. It is about 8 hours ahead in Nigeria from our Pacific Time zone. The services will continue all week long.
We are working on a live broadcast of the services, and we will also archive the feed for later viewing. Due to technical issues on their end today they were not able to get a satellite feed up and running. They hope to have the feed fixed for tomorrow at 5pm GMT, 9am Pacific.
If I am able to get a solid lock on the feed, I will rebroadcast it from our website here. There will be a picture to click on the top of every prayer board page and the homepage as well.

Please, I need everyone to pray for the team while they are gone. Pray for their health, safety, and for the millions of people in attendance that they will receive a life changing touch from the Lord in these services.

I will post more as news comes in. There is just an issue of no phones readilly available in the area they are at, and getting out of the area to make a call, with that many people around, is virtually impossible.

The Lord bless you all, and thank you for your continued prayers and support of this mission.

Father, we thank you for this immense opportunity to minister to such a great gathering of people. We pray for a special anointing upon each member and we pray a hedge of protection around them. We pray for the sound system. We pray for the connections that must be made. We pray for the translation, Lord, that it would flow freely. We thank you for your mercy and your grace! We praise you for such a large harvest, oh, Lord! You know each and every need and we place this mission in your hands. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen

I have not heard back from Jerry or the team today. My last phone call was last night. My brother said everything was going great. He was absolutelly amazed at the numbers of people showing up, should be in the millions by tonights service.
Once again they tried all day long (our night time) to get the satellite feed up and running with no luck. They are going to try again today with a new uplink. It would be great if we could get a number of people praying for this technology as I would, and I'm sure many of you would like to see the services live.
I will post more information as it comes in.

Well the battle continues for the live feed.
I am not sure exactly what the issue is, but I have been told that they can achieve a satellite uplink, but can't keep it stable. That means every time it drops, which must be often, that everyone viewing would also be dropped. Obviously this isn't a good situation.
I have spoken to the webmaster three times throughout the day, and it does not look like the situation is going to improve, at least for today's broadcast.
I expect they will try again tomorrow. If it does work, then I will of course post the link for everyone to tune in. If it does not work, then we will all have to wait untill christmas when the team returns. We sent plenty of video and camera equipment with them on the trip. It will only be a matter of my encoding their video's and uploading the pictures when they return. Just like most people here I am dying to see the event live and continue to pray that they get the equipment side sorted out.

HOLY GHOST CONGRESS 2003 REPORTS

WHEN ADEBOYE WAS “ARRESTED’’ BY THE HOLY SPIRIT



The Holy Spirit literally overpowered Pastor E. A. Adeboye on Wednesday night at the on going Holy Ghost Congress as the General Overseer found it difficult to continue standing as he began to deliver his message.

Unlike his normal self, when Pastor Adeboye came to the podium he leaned on the pulpit and began to explain the blessings of the third day. According to him God would provide for the needs of those present and he will reward the labour of their hands.

Suddenly, the General Overseer requested for a seat because of the presence of God, which was so much as a result of which he could no longer remain standing.

The Holy Ghost took control and Pastor Adeboye began to give various words of knowledge. After a while, he asked for permission to retire to his prayer room and when he came back he asked people to bring out handkerchiefs on which he transferred his anointing to them.

After the blessing he told the people to begin to praise God and it was jubilation time for everybody as they danced round the ground and gave thanks to God.

Prior to this time, Pastor Yon Chan Pastokan from Netherlands spoke on, "The joy of abiding in Christ". He told the congregation "we need to fight in faith to obtain the promises of God” noting that many people want God to fix their problems the way they want it but God wants us to always be on his side.

He challenged people to hold on to God even though his promise may not be forthcoming yet.



After the programme, Pastor Adeboye retired to the prayer room with the ministers where he lied down and asked them to touch him to receive the anointing.

The prayer session took a dramatic turn around as the ministers who touched him started to fall under the anointing.



GOD IS REALLY HERE

Many foreign delegates at the Congress have continued to marvel at the move of the Holy Spirit at the programme . Some of the delegates mainly from the United States spoke on their impressions so far

The power of God, the holiness that is on this ground is unimaginable. There is so much of God. No man can do this but God. When the programme is over, I will take the soil of the camp in a bag, ask Pastor Adeboye to pray on it and I will take it to where I live -America and speak to it to produce the kind of revival at the camp.

MINISTERS PRAY FOR NATION, FAMILY, YOUTH, CHURCH

Thursday was a special night of prayers at the on Holy Ghost congress holding at the Redemption Camp along the Lagos-Ibadan, Expressway on the outskirt of Lagos, Nigeria former capital city.

Church leaders from different ministries led various prayer sessions on the issues including the family, revival of the Church, youth lifestyle, peace and security in the country.

Pastor Taiwo Odukoya of Fountain of Life Ministry while leading the prayer for the family noted that God spoke of blessing, increase and multiplication for the family but the devil is out to destroy man who is the head.

“The devil uses, the wife and children to get the man. If the man survives, he will revive the family, otherwise the entire family will die”.

Pastor Odukoya who run a popular programme known as Discovery for Men therefore urged participants at the congress to “pray for your husband and father for wisdom and understanding if you are a woman while the men and husbands should also pray for themselves”

Pastor Adefarasin of House on the Rock, Lagos, while praying for the youth on lifestyle of purity and zealously seeking the Lord, urged the congregation to pray that they will not take their anointing to the grave like Elisha.

To guarantee peace and security in the nation, Pastor S.A Abiara of C.A.C, Agbala Itura said Nigerians have to do away with sins and salvation imbibed by all.

He likened sin to livewire or snake, which should be avoided.



OKONKWO ON COMMITMENT TO TRUTH



The President of the Pentecostal fellowship of Nigeria, Bishop Mike Okonkwo has call for a pursuit and commitment to truth by all believers.

Speaking of Thursday Night at the on going Holy Ghost Congress Bishop Okonkwo who is the General Overseer of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) stressed that “Jesus is the truth who is able to do all things”.

“He can heal any wound, he can build. Bring all your suffering and burden to him and walk in the fullness of his salvation.

“When the going gets though, do not go to the world for a solution. Do not allow bitter life to stop you from following the truth. Follow the truth that you know in all situation.” Okonkwo who is the Vice President of the Christian Association of Nigeria stated.

He urged participants at the congress to pray that God will reveal the truth to them so that they can be free.



HOW GOD CAN ARISE IN YOUR SITUATION

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor E.A.Adeboye has urged Christians to always do everything to please God to guarantee divine intervention in every situation.

In a message titled “My God shall arise” Pastor Adeboye assured that “your sun will rise” as long as people remain faithful to the lord.

Among other prayer points he asked the participants to pray “every closed door by the enemy should open”

“Lord Arise scatter my enemies

“Help me always to please you

“Father give me a song of total deliverance

“My progress shall be rapid

“I will never see my enemies again.



THE EARTH IS THE LORD’S

-Bunmi Oni on how to make profitable investments



Instead of running abroad Nigerians have been urged to make the best use of the opportunities for investment in the country.



Speaking at a seminar on Investment opportunities in Nigeria on Thursday, Mr. Bunmi Oni, Managing Director of Cadbury Nigeria Limited said if Christians are obedient to the voice of the lord, they will always eat the good of the land.



“Opportunity for investment is at our disposal because the earth is the Lord’s and our sufficiency should always be in the lord and not running to other countries where you may be forced to be a second rate citizen” Oni, noted. For example, Oni said with 45 percent of Nigeria’s population being below 13 years, there are lots of investment opportunities for coming up with goods and services for this age bracket.

He also said that the various natural resources which the country is endowed with and the on going privatization excise by government offer a lot of investment opportunities.

To succeed, Oni advised investors to develop themselves educationally, get the right staff with requisite experience, hear from God and follow His instructions diligently

Ok, lets keep on praying the heaven on to the world.
Let´s pray to rip the darkness in to pieces!
Let´s pray until the walls of darkness falls. Let´s pray specially for the deliverance of all those magigians which has held the african people in bondage for generations. Let´s pray that Satan shall loose those who has served him from generation to generation. Shall our Lords Light of freedom change their darkness in to divine light.

Jerry starts about 2 mins into the clip. It is not his entire message, but it is the only portion of video that I can find that made it to their servers from the satellite uplink. I will try and find out if there are any more clips of Jerry.

I didn't know this thread was here Praise God I found it!! I have been interceeding for Jerry's trip w/ prayer & fasting even before he left... will continue until all are back on USA soil~
Although I have set prayer times, the whole time I am awaake just seems like one big prayer session! Paul admonished pray without ceasing... yes Lord, yes LOrd,yes Lord YES!!!
I PRAISE YOU GOD- I LOVE YOU JESUS--I AM SATURATED IN YOUR PRECENSE HOLY SPIRIT,,,pour all of Jerry's team with fresh anointing... overflowing,out into every receptive heart there...touch the ones who think they are not ready...bring the seed to full fruit and in good soil, not rocky or sandy!

This is really a cool idea. Maybe Jerry could leave a little bit of this soil in Europe when he lands there before he continues his flight to the USA, cause Europe also needs revival.

By the way the video rocks, it's thrilling.
I think I would freak out if I had to speak in front of so many people but Jerry does a really good job. I wouldn't even know what to talk about to these people. Does Jerry prepare his speeches or does he vamp, too ?

I think I would freak out if I had to speak in front of so many people but Jerry does a really good job. I wouldn't even know what to talk about to these people. Does Jerry prepare his speeches or does he vamp, too ?

hahaha I like the idea of leaving some of the soil in Europe. He actually flies out of Paris (jealousy hits).
As to dad preparing his messages, yes sometimes they are completelly prepared, and many times they are not. You have to understand that dad has preached over 5k times in the past 10 years. He has a notebook of about 500 messages or so that he has written. Pretty much he knows them all inside and out. I can say this though, most of the time dad has no idea what he is going to preach on even minutes before he arrives at the church. He usually prays quite hard about what the word from the Lord is going to be for the evening.
Of course there is no way for me to know untill asking him, but this message looks like he had specific verses prepared, however it is obvious to me that other than the verses themselves it is straight from what the Lord is telling him to say. (He's not reading it).

ANOINTING FOR GREATNESS SERIES NEXT YEAR

Next year’s Holy Ghost monthly services will feature a new series of messages on Anointing for greatness.

Pastor E .A .Adeboye who disclosed this on Friday night said the Holy Ghost services will witness a lot of changes in view of the new anointing which is now on the ministry.

Noting that many people were destined for greatness in the new year, Pastor Adeboye urged members not to miss any of the monthly programmes next year.

To round up this year (2003), the General Overseer also invited members for a Holy Communion Service on December 31 from 7-9 pm.

Pastor Adeboye noted that every year has its joy and sorrow and urged members to participate in the end of year service to guarantee a sorrow free 2004.

“Sorrow will cease to come near your home. What God does so that his child does not taste out of the sorrow of any year is to go a step ahead of the enemy” Adeboye stated.

NIGERIA WILL BECOME MECCA OF CHRISTIANITY -ADEBOYE

The General Overseer has prophesied that Nigeria would soon become the Christian Mecca of the world.

According to him, apart from citizens of the world, heads of states worldwide would come to worship at the Redemption camp based on the message he has received from the Lord.

Adeboye stated that Nigeria would become the greatest nation in the world in view of God’s presence in the land.

“People will bow for Nigerians wheN they travel abroad. Not because of technological or scientific development. They will just acknowledge that God is here. He lives in Nigeria.

The G.O explained that President Obasanjo’s participation in the Holy Ghost Congress is a fulfillment of a 12 year prophesy which necessitated the building of a presidential house then,.

“People did not believe me when I said it. When I started building the Presidential guest house they were not sure I heard from God. Now the President has finally come. No matter how long, every promise of God will come to pass”.

President Obasanjo himself disclosed that his coming to the camp was a fulfillment of a pledge he made to the G.O sometime ago and thanked God for enabling him to fulfill the promise..

OBASANJO COMMITS NIGERIA TO GOD

President Olusegun Obasanjo has committed Nigeria to God asking for a new song to lead the county to a new Nigeria.

Speaking on the theme of the Congress “A New Song” President Obasanjo admitted that a new Nigeria would be possible with divine intervention.

“A new song to lead to New Nigeria but how? In the hand of God. I pray that God will do this for us.”

According to the President, for Nigerians to individually sing a new song, they need to embrace the characteristics of love, victory, praise, joy, courage, peace, worship, faith, repentance, obedience, righteousness and sacrifice.

Obasanjo described the theme of the Congress as very topical, relevant, and important citing Moses, Miriam, sister of Moses and Mary mother of Jesus as examples of people who sang a new song after God miraculously intervened in their affairs.

The President thanked members of the Church for their prayer support noting that the success so far achieved by his administration was due to prayers of the faithful.

“Your prayer is good thus far, but we want you to continue praying for us. We have begun but we have a long way to go.” Obasanjo pleaded.

WHEN OBASANJO LED PRAISE AND WORSHIP

Although he confessed to having a croaky voice, President Obasanjo managed to lead participants at the congress in three songs to the delight of all.

He sang three popular songs and a one on a new Nigeria which he requested should become like a national anthem for Christians.

I am singing unto the Lord, Singing Hale (2ce) I am dancing unto the Lord Dancing Haleluyah (2ce)

Open your mouth and praie the Lord (2ce) Open your mouth your lord is good.

MUMMY G.O IN HEARTH FELT PRAYER FOR NIGERIA

One of the major highlights of the Friday night was a special prayer for the nation led by the wife of the General Overseer , Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye.

During the prayer Mrs Adeboye popularly kwon as Mummy G.O prayed fervently for the country so that Nigerians can begin to sing a new song.

She said there was need to pray for the country because of the various problems confronting the nation due largely to the sin of the leaders.

In a loud voice the Mother in Israel asked the congregation to confess the sins of the nation.

“There are too many bad things happening in the country. People die and we leave them to rot on the road side. There is assassination, robbery. We do all kinds of things all in the name of money and our people are wasting away.

“Let’s pray for our leaders to fully turn to God. That God will rule their heart. That they will know that it is God who put them there. That they will not just call God with their mouth, while their hearts are far from God.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. When a nation is taken over by Jehovah, peace, righteousness, blessings joy goodness will reign.

That's cool. I don't like the speeches at my church where the whole speech is written by the pastor the day before and then he just stands there and reads it to the audience. That's simply a dead speech, it may sound good and you may think that he's clever and that he knows how to write good speeches but it doesn't really reach you.

Did everyone get home alright? I know Randy and Linda planned to see if they could stay at least one extra day in Paris for their Anniversary but I have heard nothing from anyone!!!

I haven't been a member long,but I am really enjoying myself. I seen the clip of the service,and I enjoyed. It didn't matter,that I couldn't see it well,but I could should hear it. I hope that the couple will find their luggage,God will find it,alright. I like to say again,welcome home,and what a great work you all are doing.I hope that you can get a little rest,because 40 hours,is a long time. I will continue to pray for the ministry.
