Have you guys noticed that too? With each year, Christmas because more Santa Clausish that Jesus' birthish. The whole hype around Christmas is more focused on presents and Santa Claus and "I want this" and "I want that", that we forget to remember the Son.
In shopping malls, they're not allowed to say "Merry Christmas" anymore. Instead, they have to say "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings" or they get fired. In some schools in my area, they banned Christmas trees because it is too related to Christianity.
Each Christmas, when a child looks under the tree, they see "To Jimmy, from Mom" or "Too Sally, from Dad." Or the worst one of all, "To Billy from Santa."

Let me pose you with a question. When you were growing up, did you ever receive a gift under the tree that said "To my beautiful child. From Jesus."? Did you? I know I didn't.

It seems that each year, Christmas is more focused on Santa Claus and presents, which is not what Christmas is about.

It's origins are from a Christian Bishop who lived in the 3rd century, Saint Nicholas. Now that almost sounds like Santa Claus. Saint Nicholas would give bags of gold to poor families, and secretly leave presents for children.

No matter what way you look at Christmas, the whole spirit is giving. But I am giving you a challenge. This year, focus Christmas not on Santa Claus and presents, but on Jesus and His birth.

I agree whole heartedly with what you are saying. The other day when we were driving I saw a florist that called it Present Day. We have become so politically correct that we are all so accepting of these things. We know that there are certain groups that want all aspects of christianity removed everywhere. I found it interesting to hear that Moon tried to have crosses removed from outside all churches. As consumers we know how we can get our voice heard and that is not to patronize businesses that we do not agree with their policy. Every year the Christmas displays go up earlier and there is less talk of the reason for the season. I know growing up in a christian home we were taught that Jesus was the resaon for Christmas and that Santa was not real but the fun part of Christmas. Although my sons are not raising their children in the Christian faith, in our home before we open presents we read the Christmas story from Matthew. My husband and I feel that we are teaching them the Lord's part and why we have Christmas. I know the Lord does not object to us celebrating Christmas including some of the secular customs, he just wants to be part of it.

We are sooooooooooooo blessed here in New Zealand, we have a 24hr, 7 day a week Christian radio station network and tv network!! For such a small country, we have been blessed by God, in that, 25 yrs ago a group of people had a vision to start this and overcame all the opposition, which of course was tremendous, and bought this vision to manifestation for us here!

I also get a Christian newspaper once a week and I read in there yesterday that Shine TV has huge billboards in the central business district here in Auckland, picturing a family, Christmas morning with gifts under their tree, and the huge caption is 'CELEBRATE JESUS' BIRTHDAY!'

PRAISE GOD FOR THESE AWESOME SERVANTS OF THE ONE TRUE GOD HERE IN NEW ZEALAND!

We, also, have much debate raging on all levels of govt and local councils etc., so called "offended" people wanting to remove any and ALL reference to our Saviour here in our country!

I just pray that they will recognise, before it's too late and God withdraws the blessings we take so for granted, WHERE OUR BLESSINGS COME FROM!!! BECAUSE OUR COUNTRY, LIKE YOURS, WAS FOUNDED ON BELIEF IN HIM AND OBEDIENCE TO HIS COMMANDMENTS!

Forever His,
Sharon
