Praying in Jesus name ?

Mark 16;15-18 says that we can heal people in the name of Jesus.
This means that I can go into the world and heal people in the name of Jesus ???
Really ?? And God will listen to what I ask for and grant it cause I pray in the name of Jesus.
Is this correct ?
I just prayed in Jesus' name for my baptizm with the holy spirit and now all I have to do is wait, how long will it take ?
Hours, days, weeks ?
Can I pray for a new car in Jesus' name as well ?

Remember, "not everyone that says unto Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter into the kingdom of heaven."
So, if we won't even enter heaven just because we use Jesus name, does it stand to reason we will get everything we ask for in His name? There are other factors--you have to consider the
entire Bible. Without faith it is impossible please God. If you are just using Jesus name to get something, but have no faith, I don't believe you will get it. We can not use His name as a magic wand.
Jesus said His Father would be glorified when he answered a prayer asked in His name. But maybe it brings more glory to God for you to drive a not so nice car and keep a posotive, faith-filled attitude than if He just dropped a fancy car into Your life. Anyone, can praise God and be upbeat when everything is going well. Some of the people who minister to me the most are those who are going through some pretty awful stuff and seemingly are not getting what they asked for in Jesus name, but their faith is still strong.
The scripture you refer to is surrounded by words Jesus gave to His disciples just before He went to the cross. It is a lot about relationship, and I believe this is where most people miss it. We are not walking close to Jesus at all, and expect if we ask something in His name, that it will automatically happen. Or we get mad when it doesn't. If you study the entire context of scripture, what God msot wants from us is a relaitionship. Abraham was called the friend of God, and look how long he waited for the promise of Isaac. It is not about how soon He answers, but about how much we get to know Him while we wait.
God doesn't answer any two people the exact same. I used to ask Him, "What about ---------?"
(meaning "Why don't you treat me the same as you treat [name of person]." And He said, "Because you aren't [that person]. I treat you as an individual." Jesus knows me intimately; He knows exactly what I need.
If I have prayed "in Jesus name," faithfully, but am still waiting for the answer, I have to believe He knows what He is up to and has an ultimate plan for His purposes on the earth. I can not see the entire picture of what He is doing.. Maybe I want one person saved, but He is waiting because He has a plan that will sweep millions into the kingdom. I have to let God be God. Face it, it
really is all about Jesus!!! At any time in my life where I don't seem to be getting the answers I want and am praying for, I have to trust and lean not to my own understanding. Jesus is so big and so awesome, how can we ever really expect to understand here on this earth?
The Bible says "He that endurers to the end will be saved." So obviously, I have to endure some stuff. I am more concerned that in my calling "Lord, Lord," I am counted worthy to enter into His joy forevermore I want to love Him, love Him, love Him, love Him, love Him.....!!!

I will post a lesson on the name SHEM
He was the son of Noah.
I will give some hints.
His name became one of the Names of God. Ha-Shem
Ha means the
When you speak in the name of someone you are standing in for them, just as if they were there.
Example, if you said you were doing something in the name of Jerry Gaffney you better ask me first and make sure you are doing exactly what I wanted.

People heal others in the name of Jesus, do you think they ask Jesus every time before they heal somebody ? No, they just do it and God allows it but when I pray in Jesus' name for the holy spirit nothing happens. You know I feel like somebody is making fun of me. Why does nothing work when I try it ? Is it my faith ? I have no more trust in prayer cause my prayers don't show any effect.

Not even Jesus could heal without asking.
JOH 5:30 (Jesus said) I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
JOH 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of (or by) himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
JOH 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
JOH 15:5 (Jesus said
I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Again you see Frederik. You must look at the word for your guidence. No one can heal but the Father in heaven. Even Jesus Himself, the Son of the living God could not heal without the Father's permission.

Frederik, there are those who have tried to use the name of Jesus to get the same results as those who intimately know Him. Those who know Jesus intimately, know His word and His will get results. Those who do not know Jesus will get the contrary as illustrated in the book of Acts. The first 12 verses show the successful use of the authority of the believer by the apostle Paul. The last six verses display those who attempt to imitate faith in the name of Jesus without the authority granted through a loving relationship with the heavenlly Father.
Blessings, Robert Cyders...
Heb 11:6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Acts 19:1-12
1 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples
2 and asked them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" They answered, "No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit."
3 So Paul asked, "Then what baptism did you receive?" "John's baptism," they replied.
4 Paul said, "John's baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus."
5 On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
7 There were about twelve men in all.
8 Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God.
9 But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
10 This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.
11 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul,
12 so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.
(NIV)
Acts 19:13-18
13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, "In the name of Jesus, whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out."
14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.
15 [One day] the evil spirit answered them, "Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?"
16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.
17 When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.
18 Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds.
(NIV)
2 Pet 1:2-3
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue(moral excellence):

Okay, then I don't know Jesus.

You know Frederik, maybe you don't know Jesus. Are you saved, really deep down saved? Down to your toes and running over saved? Don't play with jesus or you might get spanked by him! I have, just a few days ago, and I won't forget it any time soon. At least I hope I don't. Because each time you recieve a spanking from the Lord, you have learned something.
I'm not judging you because it says in the bible, "judge not lest you be judged", but you remind me of a little boy playing with things. You want to do it your way, or no way, in Jesus name. I say to you here and now, get serious Frederik, get very serious with the Lord. You never know whats going to happen tomorrow, or if you will even be there.
Get in a church, even if you do feel like two left shoes,(because that is showing the Lord that you really love him)read the bible, study the bible, and if you don't remember the verse that you just read, read it again. Don't know what it means, write it down and ask the minister, or write Jerry. You know that you would get help. I mean you know Jerry, he might answer your guestion with another question and send you back to the bible, but what he wants you to do is think!
So start thinking dear boy, everything is not for gain in worldly possessions, because lets face it, you can't take it with you! Theres only one thing that you need, and that is the LORD! When you have him fully, he will take care of you needs, and you won't go without!
I'll be praying for you, and praying that God will give you the inside peace that you are screaming out for.
God be with you,
Marni

Thanks Marni.
I went to church on Sunday and guess what was the topic of the sermon ? Yes, it was praying in Jesus' name and I learned a lot.
Do you think this was a sign from God ? I am not sure, I am so quick to think that everything is simply a coincidence.

Frederik,
Do not be a doubting Thoams. God leaves nothing to coincidence! He knew what you needed, you over come and started going to church, and just when you needed that message, honey you got it!
Now, lets deal with the "doubting Thomas" part of you. When you have started to do something wrong, and you KNEW it was wrong to do it, you know that little voice telling you not to do it? That was God! Sit still, by yourself, and listen to your inner self. You will hear God! Like when you are doing something, watching t.v. and you get a little nudge in your tummy or heart and it flashes in your mind to read the bible, email Jerry, stop and pray, say "Thank you lord " and do it. Thats God! The more you mind or do what ever that nudge or still quiet voice is telling you to do, The more our Wonderful Lord will talk to you. And even if you do not think it was God, do it any way, because it is God. Soon you will be talking to God all the time, and oh Frederik, its wonderful!
God even has a sence of humor! When Jerry told me this I thought to myself "your out of your mind!, and I could not understand God Talking to me! But then I started to do what I have
tried to explain to you, and now I talk to him off and on all day! Now, even when my Grandchildren loose something, they'll say, pray Grandma; and do you know something, they are never let down because God answers prayer.
Pray Frederik, get closer to God, and in a week or a month from now, you will laugh at your self and say,"this was so easy", why was I doing thigs so hard.
I have a hard time with words Frederik, or trying to explain my self, but I pray to God that you can kind of grasp what I have said, and try it! You will like it!
Your always in my prayers,
Your friend in Christ,
Marni

I know that I am too doubtful.

Federik, it's so great you went to church! Hallelujah! And do what my pastor used to say (moved, so in a different church): [when you think it's not God talking to you]: Start doubting your doubts!
