aspergillus in her brain

I don't know how to start this but it is very hard. We still have hope that Shanna will recover but they have found aspergillus in her brain. A spot that was o­n the MRI done o­n April 9th that was about the size of a pea is now o­n May 9th the size of a medium size olive and extends down into the 3rd ventricle of the brain. It was causing some hydrocephalus because it is blocking some of the flow of the fluid. It is a very serious situation. Gene is extremely distraught because they kept telling us an MRI was not warranted at this time. The o­nly reason why they decided to do o­ne was because of the seizure she had last Sunday. She has an open port into her brain where today they started administering the antifungal drugs that they used in her spine.  She has continually got these through IV but they do not cross the blood/brain barrier. We have a meeting Monday with all the teams and I know Gene is going to blow his top. Please pray for the correct phrasing for him to convey his ideas and criticisms. We feel the infectious disease team has not kept o­n top of this problem and now it is out of control again.  Shanna is very calm. I know she is worried inside though. We still want to attempt to take her home for a weekend. But now with a external port that may have to wait until they can put it under the skin, like o­n her back.

I cannot begin to second guess the Lord o­n why this is going o­n in our lives but I do know He is in control. It is very hard not to be angry, abusive, and sarcastic towards the doctors that we feel should have some answers, but we have to remember that it is not they who are calling the shots.

We may lose this battle and I know we will fight it with everything we have. Please join us o­nce again in prayer and ask that Shanna be spared.

But if she does have to go home to the Lord, let her short life be an inspiration to those who know her and those who know of her story.

Lord Jesus I come in aggreement with this family and David for the healing of Shanna. Jesus touch her Lord with Your Healing. I ask Lord that healing flow from her head to her bottoms of her feet. Complete recovery in The Name of Jesus, even Now Lord I thank You for what Your doing in her.
Jesus I pray that the family receive peace, your peace, the peace that surpasses all understanding. Refresh this family Lord, strengthen them, give them a hope and a future to look forward to.
Lord in all things we give You the Glory. Amen
