Our nation was founded by people of great accomplishment, great courage, and great humility. They believed not only in themselves, but also in the goodness of God's wisdom and God's plan for every life. This American quality has endured throughout the generations. Americans are, at our best, are a reverent and a grateful people. Even in times of hardship, we see all around us gifts to be thankful for: our families and friends, the beautiful land we call home, and the freedom granted to us all.

This year, as in other times in our history, we can be especially grateful for the courage and faithfulness of those who defend us. Every man and woman who wears our country's uniform is a volunteer, facing hardships and sometimes peril, because they believe in this country and our cause. Our nation's sense of gratitude is the source of the great generosity and compassion of our people.

Give thanks for the good news that the nation's threat level has been reduced to yellow or "elevated." Pray that all Americans will remain vigilant and responsive to security concerns.

Pray for wisdom for the President in the proposed changes to America’s immigration laws, and as he travels to Monterrey, Mexico on January 12-13, 2004 for the Special Summit of the Americas. This gathering is an opportunity for the democratically-elected leaders of the hemisphere to meet together to discuss shared interests regarding democracy, prosperity and development throughout the hemisphere. The President will also meet with Mexican president Vicente Fox to discuss mutual concerns--particularly the immigration rules.

Give thanks for the success of the Spirit Rover mission to Mars. Pray for all those at NASA with responsibility for this program, and pray for the best use of the information gained from this mission.

Pray for God's continued protection and give thanks for the successful efforts of the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration in the management of the most recent threats on America. Many flights have been cancelled or grounded due to the discovery of possible plots to crash aircraft into key American sites. Pray for continued wisdom and help for President Bush and his team, especially Tom Ridge and Admiral James Loy.

Pray for the ongoing efforts in the war on terror, that the President and all his intelligence sources will obtain the most helpful information in safeguarding America, and that further threats will be foiled before they are begun. Pray for them to have godly wisdom in the manner in which they handle each bit of information.

Pray for our troops as they continue to battle against insurgents and rebels to bring peace and hope to the people of Iraq. Pray for their protection and strength.

Pray for the effectiveness of a new fingerprinting initiative that will screen foreign travelers entering America. Intended to be “easy for travelers to use but hard for terrorists,” pray that the system will work to thwart future threats to American security.

Give thanks for the successful passage of the Afghan constitution. Pray for the President’s ambassador and special envoy to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, as he works with Afghan leaders to flesh out a true democracy for that nation.

Pray for the President as he welcomes Spanish President Aznar to the White House on January 14, 2004. In addition to discussing mutual concerns including the war on terror, the President and Mrs. Bush will host a dinner in honor of President and Mrs. Aznar.

Thank You Father for a nation who is concerned for the safety of its people, Thank You that the threat of terrorism has fallen in most situations and facilities. Thank you father as You keep my husband safe as he works for TSA in the airport. Thank You for vigilence and speed in response to threats.

Father Please keep the persons responsible for ferreting out the information in the activities of terror informed, covered and correct in their readings of the situations they look at. Lead them all into Salvation, please.

Father, please lead the other leaders into Salvation. Holy Spirit, I release You to work in their hearts toward that end and ask that You be in charge of their countries policies and laws reguarding Christians.

Help TSA as they weather a storm from within at this time. Keep Tom Ridge and Admiral Loy honest and informed of their people, let them be quick to remove any threats or problems.

Father, I ask that You lead Mr. Ridge and Admiral Loy into a deep and abiding Salvation Walk. Holy Spirit, I release them to You.

Father, the men and women who are in Iraq and Afghanistan... Thank You for them. Holy Spirit, I release You to work in their lives toward Salvation. Give them Strength, Protection, Compassion, and Wisdom as they deal with the people of the countries they are in. Let them be shining lights of what Freedom can be as they represent our country. Thank You Father.

Father, do not allow two standards of law in Afghanistan, a lienient one for men and a harsh one for women. Do not allow the Talibans horrible oppression of women continue into the new State. Give Zalmay Khalilzad as he works to make a new, free country. Holy Spirit, I release You to work in this Nation and in the hearts of its citizens and those working to build a new Nation.
