There is no easy comfort to this, unfortunately. As a sister in the Lord I can only say you must capture EVERY thought for Christ and make Him your first love and bride in all ways. You will have no peace, no rest until you do and (from experience) I know it is not worth the cost! I pray that you will not have to learn "the hard way".

As we know Jesus better, his divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life... --2 Peter 1:3

Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. --Proverbs 24:14

Proverbs 5

The Peril of Adultery

Warning Against Immorality
1 My son, pay attention to my wisdom;
        Lend your ear to my understanding,
        2That you may preserve discretion,
        And your lips may keep knowledge.
        3For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey,
        And her mouth is smoother than oil;
        4But in the end she is bitter as wormwood,
        Sharp as a two-edged sword.
        5Her feet go down to death,
        Her steps lay hold of hell.[1]
        6Lest you ponder her path of life--
        Her ways are unstable;
        You do not know them.

        7Therefore hear me now, my children,
        And do not depart from the words of my mouth.
        8Remove your way far from her,
        And do not go near the door of her house,
        9Lest you give your honor to others,
        And your years to the cruel one;
        10Lest aliens be filled with your wealth,
        And your labors go to the house of a foreigner;
        11And you mourn at last,
        When your flesh and your body are consumed,
        12And say:
        "How I have hated instruction,
        And my heart despised correction!
        13I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers,
        Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me!
        14I was on the verge of total ruin,
        In the midst of the assembly and congregation."

        15Drink water from your own cistern,
        And running water from your own well.
        16Should your fountains be dispersed abroad,
        Streams of water in the streets?
        17Let them be only your own,
        And not for strangers with you.
        18Let your fountain be blessed,
        And rejoice with the wife of your youth.
        19As a loving deer and a graceful doe,
        Let her breasts satisfy you at all times;
        And always be enraptured with her love.
        20For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman,
        And be embraced in the arms of a seductress?

        21For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD,
        And He ponders all his paths.
        22His own iniquities entrap the wicked man,
        And he is caught in the cords of his sin.
        23He shall die for lack of instruction,
        And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

Footnotes

  1. 5:5 Or Sheol

Lord, I pray you will set "Thryllz" free.

(But just remember, it is not a thrill--it is degrading to women and you should be ashamed of lowering women to nothing more than body parts.  Women have emotions, intuition, intelligence, nurturing and a ton of great attributes.  They are not sex objects!  Those who pose in these magazines probably have a shame base and feel they are not worth enough to be looked at any differently.  Because of the shame, they want attention [to validate themselves], and they see this as a way to get it.  You should not treat them as they wrongly think they should be treated by looking at them nude--this only continues the visious cycle.  Think about it this way:  What if it was your sister, mother or wife posing for all those eyes to peer at?  Would you be so thrilled then?)

Jesus, I know You are the only real thrill in life.  Oh, so many things distract us, dazzle our eyes for a moment....But soon, we feel eimpty and come searching for You.  Please let him (I don't like the name "Thryllz," because it's a lie from the pit of hell!  The real thrill is waiting for your marriage partner and having sex with only them--not fantasizing over some airbrushed picture in a magazine!  You can't have a relationship with a photo.) come to You Jesus.

Trite as it sounds, Jesus really is the only answer!  Jesus is the greatest thrill.  Not that I press in like I should.  No.  I have a million and one things I think are so important.  But after a while I feel empty, sad, discouraged.  Because I quit seeking Jesus.  I quit praying; I quit reading the Bible; I quit praising; I quit "being still to know he is God."  See, it's about dicipline.  It's about JUST DO IT!  Just seek Jesus that is.

The Proverbs passage holds the key:  Therefore hear me now, my children, and do not depart from the words of my mouth.  If you keep God's word before you, in your mind, in your heart, meditate on it day and night, there will be no room for dwelling on evil.  It is a 24/7 battle.  Every minute be putting your mind back on Jesus and His Word.  That is the only way You will win.  I would be reading and reading and reading the Word.  Dicipline yourself.  If you have time for porn, you have time for God's Word!!!  Every time you are craving porn, grab your Bible and READ.  The Bible says let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight.  What better to meditate on than God's Word?  We overcome with the word of our testimony.  What better testimony than God's Word?  Eat the Word, injest it, devour it!  The Word is the key to our deliverance!

I hope you did not mind reading this long post, but this is a subject I feel very passionate about!  Whatever else you get, know this:  I will be praying for you.  And maybe when you want to look at porn, you will remember I am praying and that will strengthen your resolve not to.  Thanks for listening.

JeriRose...

hmmm... i thank you.... and yet i feel "crucified" by you... yes, i am ashamed of what i did... i am sore ashamed.... this is the very reason for my requesting a prayer... your intentions may have been good... as a matter of fact, i believe it was good.... but you see.... your actual reply acted as an accuser.... under normal circumstances, this would be fine.... but i have been convicted already by the Spirit of God.... it feels like salt was poured on a closing wound.... but i thank you nonetheless...

God bless you...

Thryllz,

I read your post and your request for prayer. I will pray for you dear child of God. May God protect you and keep you in His will. I ask you to read about putting on the full armor of God. You will find the passages in Ephesians 6:10-20.
May God also renew your mind. I would also ask you to read Romans 12:2.

May you be richly blessed in the Lord.

Your brother in Christ,

David P. Slusser
