I have a question....

In the bible it says honour your mother and father and you will live a longer life....

I have known 2 wonderful, strong Christian women who both dearly loved their parents. They both passed away in their 20's. I dont understand this. Does anyone have an answere??

I don't know the direct passage of Scripture where it says that, but I am guessing that it has to do with more of an eternal and satisfying non-worldly life, in the end. I am sorry for the loss of these great influences in your life, but I do know that God has reasons behind everything that occurs...answers are futile in the long run, because we should focus on God, and not trying to always find the answers. After all, in Heaven, we won't worry about such things.

They probably had a peaceful, loving time on this earth
enjoying the blessings of God (even tho shortlived)BECAUSE they honored their
mother and father. If the children curse and blame
their parents and walk in rebellion, there is no end of
misery and probably a very weak walk in the Lord if Christian.
It is a Biblical principal. We can physically die at any time
as none of us are exempt from that, but spiritually we have
a choice.

To honor your father and mother is one of them. I think by honoring them you are listening to them. And I think that it's referring to godly parents. But we are to love them all no matter what they do. But I think this is telling us to listen to our parents because they know more than we do. After all they have been here longer than we have. I know from my kids, they seem to think we never had a life and never did the things they do. We try to teach our kids from our own life experiences. But they don't seem to listen till they do it themselves. Like if we have walked on ice and slipped, and we tell our kids not to walk on it or be carefull. They wish they had listened when theyre sitting on the ice. We tried to tell them what would happen coz we already slipped on the ice. Who knows, maby your friends would have passed away earlier than they did if they hadn't listened to they're parents. Honor is also loving them, and careing for them in they're time of need also.
