prayer for daugther (almost 11)

I have a beautiful daughter, only child and truly a delight. Perhaps this prayer should be for me. My daughter is so thick-headed and disobedient with the everyday things, that I'm losing it and find that back-talk, etc. has become a circle of who gets the last word, and I feel exhausted and mean. These past few days, I've feel like I'm a bad Mom, resorting to cursing and lifting my hand. I hope it's a phase, but pray that I can get through in a more loving and productive manner and that her willful spirit won't drive me to such anger.

Lord Jesus I ask that You send the Holy Spirit to this mother and give her the peace and calmness she needs to persevere through this time in her relationship with her daughter. Lord I ask that You would come to this daughter and show her Your ways and Your will and call her to You. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

oH sweety, i can hear you loud and clear!!!! i have a 14 year old "mouth" myself and he can get me swearing quicker then you can say spit!!!!!! i lose my cool so fast with him. This is easier said then done of course but it her job to push the boundries and your job to give her clear and consitent boundries. one thing that works for me(sometimes ) is picking my battles. for example i can not stand a dirty house, i can get crazzzzzzy over his room but i compremised, he cleans his room on fridays and the rest of the week i just shut the door. this gives him a little control and it saves a lot less fights. i will pray for you. love kassy

Heavenly Father, I come to you today to ask that you take this child and help her to be more passive with her mother. Please help geostripe to be able to exercise her patience with her daughter. Please give her the wisdom to know that we don't always have the answers, But you do! Please enfold the both of them with your peace and wisdom during this difficult time of the teen- age years. In the name of Jesus I pray Amen............... geostripe, I know that it's really hard being a parent sometimes. I've done and said some things that I'm not proud of, But I know that I'm only human and can only do so much. That's where the Lord comes in. I pray EVERYDAY that he will give me the wisdom when it comes to my daughter, then I let him take care of the rest. It's not easy going through this transition. I used to be her best friend and now it's like I'm the enemy. But, now I know that I'm not her friend...........I'm her mother. And it's my responsibility to take care of her whether she likes it or not {and alot of the time it's NOT } But, all you can do is hold your ground, try to maintain her respect, and let God do the rest. It's working pretty good for me! Please let us know what happens. God bless you!
