We live in Thailand where sin is like we have never seen before. However, on tv if someone puts a cigarette to their mouth, it is "blacked out". But Janet Jackson showing her naked body was not "blacked out". There was even a picture of her on the front page of the newspaper here! This was not an accident--it was planned. Dear Jerry, I applaud your courage to take a stand against the lascivious act that took place during the Super Bowl Half-Time show. Whether or not the incident was intentional or accidental, is not the case here. The case is that Ms. Jackson wore a costume with removable parts, and Mr. Timberlake's particiaption in the event was scripted to remove part of her costume, on a private part of her body! The Super Bowl is broadcast to be a family event, and being labeled such, it should not portray ANY nudity, sexuality or other behavior inappropriate for a young audience. Ms. Jackson admits she did not tell MTV or CBS about the last minute change in her costume, and that is what I find appalling. I agree that all affiliate stations, CBS, and Ms. Jackson shold be fined accordingly for this disaster. Lord Jesus, your Word says that You will make staright our paths, and that we should consider itall good when we encounter trials. Lord, pleas teach us what went wrong here, and forgive us for our near-sightednedd and lack of diligence in protecting our children and our righteous adults who do not wish to be exposed to this filth. Please give us a cleaheart, God, and teach us to stand up for Your righteousness, and when injustice occurs, give us the means, the determination, and the victory to fight the injustice and let Your righteousness reign. TV Sports is an American Family leisure time. The marketing strategies of commercials and performers during their performances need family guidelines. I have heard from co-workers about obscene things within the commercials and performances surrounding the game. Children (and others) do mimic these actions at school (and at work). I love freedom of speech, but please enforce guidelines that surround family events. Thank you!

It saddens me to see such a publicity stunt as the one that was pulled Sunday at half-time! It is a shame that our children cannot even view a football game without being exposed to this societies sinful ways of the flesh. If anyone that evening wanted to see women exposing themselves in the name of entertainment, they would have been watching pay-per-view not the Super Bowl! What type of message was Mr. Timberlake sending to our sons? Are women nothing more than a sexual piece of meat that can be violated in any way a man wishes?Furthermore, what is the message Ms. Jackson was sending to our impressionable daughters? Are we not to have modesty? As a parent of 4, I was outraged. As a hostess to my childrens friends I was embarressed that this horrible message was sent to children in my livingroom. As a Christian woman, I was ashamed that this great nation that we all love so well could be so permissive of this sinful material in the name of freedom of speech and freedom of expression. It is my prayer that this little escapade does not have any harmful effects on the children that were viewing the show (not to mention all the children who are viewing its media attention.)

Fortunately we were watching the Super Bowl at church and were talking to people about the true meaning of life and sharing the testimony of a former Pittsburg Steeler's player. Thank the Lord our children present were not exposed. But, please tell me why we have to see it over and over and over, regurgitated in the news, with all the sexual moves that the performers made.

When is enough enough in this country. O God, please intervene on behalf of the righteous in this country! We have strayed so far off course, we are in danger of self destruction. Hear our prayer our Lord, spare us from your rod of destruction, but apply the rod of correction.

On prime time television, this was totally inappropriate. I think what Justin and Janet did was not only unnecessary, indecent, and vulgar. I didn't have small children watching but if my grandchildren had been watching I would have been even more outraged.

I would like to add that I once heard on television a man identified as a network executive state that they had to give the people what they want! I thought he was going to say that we want good, wholesome, even educational programming. He said that what the public wants is explicit sex. Well, this part of the public does not! I don't even watch TV anymore because it is so raunchy.

Most of the people have watched this trash so much that they don't even know it is trash anymore. When you are up to your eyeballs in garbage, what's another shovel full to you?

The Muslim world sees us as the great satan mostly because of the trash that they see us put on the airwaves that infects the whole world.

The entire half-time show had No Class at all. I can't believe that this is what we expose to our children and some think, not only is it OK, but that this is what we should all be thinking about and spreading around. I can't believe that this is what MTV, and the rest of them, including the performers, came up with to entertain mega million people and children watching. Do they really think that it showed any originality or creativity? The material was not only immoral and denegrating to women and men, it had no great creative content.

Do these people really think that sex is all there is? Is this what America wants the children to think is important? We need to be teaching our children about respect for others, love, faith, giving, generosity, sharing, pride, kindness, poverty, wealth, compassion, violoence, war, integrity, and other real things that we need to know about life, in order to live it to our fullest, showing our best.

There are virtues out there that are worth teaching and learning. I know that sex is an important part of relationships, but is this the way to teach it, and what we must see over and over again? Is this the image of Amercian values that we witnessed by the world? Our performers, entertainers, media, and anyone who has power over what is shown and taught from TV and other media formats.

Where is the intelligence and morality of the adults in our entertainment world??? They have have the privelege of tremendous power. They showed great abuse of this power, and obviously cannot handle it with respect for themselves and others. Take the power away from those who cannot handle the responsibility, that is entrusted to them.

Tell these entertainers and the media, that Americans do not want this kind of disrespect and immorality. I am not only talking about the nudity. I am talking about the message sent to our young people and to the adults, through the words and danced messages that pervaded the entire show. This was a show that was seen by millions, including children. I am a musician and teacher, and I know that there are so many ways to entertain without having to behave so incredibly stupid and with no dignity, land no creativity, ike the performers did at the half-time show. As a note, on the talk radio stations that were discussing the half-time show, there were several young people, 19, 21, 23 year olds, etc. that called in to express that they felt that it was filthy, and totally uncalled for. I am not a really great fan of football. So I wasn't watching when it happened. I feel that the whole tv thing is out of hand, when you can see such things as to ladies kissing on tv, it makes you sick. Guess I'll stick with tv shows such as Andy Griffith or maybe or maybe just not watch at all. Course there are great Christian Shows on tv,There are also great places to go on the computer such as the annointed.network.

My wife and I brought this up with a great friend but this friend was from Africa where it is not thought of as vulgar.She didn't think anything was wrong. My wife said: That may be true there but once you leave Eden.you can not go back.

I totally agree with you. I thought the halftime show was terrible. If I had young children at home I would be very upset for them to see that.
We need to stop all of this kind of stuff. We need to reinforce and teach the right things. We don't have to accept things such as this.

We were fortunate, in that our daughter had just left the room and did not see the shock/filth. For them to say it was an "accident" is a lie. Why else would she have been wearing a "pastie" underneath her costume? The grabbing, fondling, stripping, etc. of the entire MTV program was horrible. The ONLY highlight was the young lady that sang the National Anthem with great grace..and the young man that sang the tribute to the NASA astronauts. The tv/advertisers have been doing the old "frog in the boiling water" treatment to the public for a long time with violence and sex. One small thing added at a time, the the temp of the water goes up..and the frog sits there happily, all the while oblivious of his obvious end.
Time is very short. Look up!

I am appalled at the display that was seen during the game. Even people I work with, who are not professing Christians, are outraged and disgusted by the gross display of disrespect for the family oriented show. Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake need to be taken to the woodshed. What were they thinking? They both need prayer. Put Del and Kay Gregg on the list as signing the petition. I heard about it from a Christian friend in another state calling me. I seldom watch the half-time shows anyway because they have gotten so bad. Thank you for taking a stand against this. The Super Bowl is supposed to be a family event, something we can all enjoy together. But this is the normal course of degredation - downward. Thankfully we have not all been too desensitized to notice this is going too far, even for the jaundiced viewers of today. I pray the media will take a giant leap to wholesomeness in programming again. Even one voice makes a great difference; we should all email, write, call, or otherwise contact the media every time we are offended by something on our television and pray, pray, pray for the holy spirit to convince and convict of sin. And we should pray the holy spirit keep us sensitive to His voice. Thank you, Jerry, for this opportunity to be a part of the solution to this type of thing and to voice our outrage. Freedom is a precious, blood-bought right, but not at the expense of decency. As we know, the only thing evil needs in order to win is for good men and women to do nothing.

I too agree that the Janet Jackson/Justin Timberlake fiasco took television to a whole new level.I would like to suggest a whole new level myself by saying that in my humble opinion, the Super Bowl needs to do away with half time altogether because you couldn't really proclaim with any conviction that the majority of half time entertainment is what you could call wholesome family entertainment.

I would like to submit a complaint regarding the Super Bowl half-time show. With the exception of Josh Groban (who was absolutely fantastic!) I was appalled by the entire half-time show and, like most Americans, truly appalled by Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson's despicable actions at the end of their song.

I would also like to take issue with:

1. Nelly. Why did he continually grab himself while he sang? This is totally unacceptable for a public appearance.

2. The "bump and grind" moves of all of the artists (except Josh Groban) and the dancers.

3. The lyrics to the songs being sung. Why are the lyrics "I'm gonna have you naked by the end of this song" even allowed during prime-time television when children are watching?

As the mother of a 12-year-old son I was mortified by what I saw. How do I explain to my son what was shown during prime-time television when I ban MTV and other questionable media in my home in an attempt to protect him and his innocence??

I agree that MTV should be banned from EVER being involved in another Super Bowl event and that heavy sanctions should be given to everyone involved in this matter.

Correct me if I am wrong Jerry, but doesn't a petition have to have a valid,legal name to be recognized as a signer of the petition?

Also, don't the signees of such petition have to be of legal age to sign it?

This is my understanding of it. I have looked for valid petition rules on the web, but can find no clear concise information on this. This is just going by prior petitions that I have been a part of.

I suggest that each of us take the tikme to write our legislators (Federal) to make sure they know our moral outrage. This is unacceptable behavior. It must not be tolerated.

I did not see the program, still I know that many of my family members did. They were also amazed at the decrease in morality on TV as we enter what the Bible calls the end. Several of these family members do not claim Christ as Savior and yet as those who are a part of the world, they oppose this kind of behavior on family TV. I did not personally witness the incident between Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson at the 2004 SuperBowl (which was in extremely poor taste), -- but sadly, some of my children DID witness the antics of Justin and Janet, and I am outraged.

How low will some of these so-called 'celebrities' go to gain attention?

Doesn't the Jackson fmaily have enough problems with Michael right now?

Does Janet really believe she has done nothing wrong?
Or that she has done something that will 'help' (rather than further hurt) her brother Michael?

Does Justin Timberlake think he is some type of "Hot-Shot Romeo" now, because he has dated few famous teeny-bopper girls?

Everywhere I look I see angry parents, appalled at the antics of these two 'celebrities' during the SuperBowl.
I am one of them.
There are OTHER ways to get attention!

It appears that many 'celebrities' have run out of imaginative ideas to get POSITIVE attention, -- and therefore have resorted to taking extremely desperate and NEGATIVE actions to gain the attention they require to feed their growing egos.

It is quite pathetic to see such acts occuring at family events such as the SuperBowl!

The networks responsible for this event should be fined, and Justin and Janet should make formal apologies to the world for their lack of good judgment.

These are NOT the types of "role models" I want my children to look up to... nor do I wish to continue seeing this type of behavior on prime-time television!

After Britney and Madonna's public kissing, and then Britney's 24 hour marriage... I guess Justin felt like HE had to do something outrageous so people would not FORGET about HIM, and talk about HIM as they do with Britney.

How childish, self-centered, ans vain can one spoiled kid be?!?
It appears one spoiled kid can be extremely childish, self-centered and vain!

I just want to say that I agree that something has to be done about the despicable and obscene act that was performed by Janet Jackson and Justin Timerlane. Aside from the vulgar and shocking display, Mr. Timerlane gave the impression of an agressive act suggesting an attack on a woman such as rape. I feel the worst for the children and the parents that were assaulted unknowningly while watching a supposedly innnocent half time show during a football game. Someone needs to be held responsible and/or we should just ban watching CBS (this is not the first time they have allowed this type of thing to happen) and MTV on regular TV.

I am deeply disturbed by the halftime events of the SuperBowl. I do not feel that the "dirty dancing" performances were appropriate for such a family oriented, celebrated annual event. Shame on Ms. Jackson! I find her statement that "it was a wardbrode error" to be totally false, as she announced prior to the event that there would be "something shocking". How sad it is that our entertainment industry now finds that the only thing left for entertainment is "shock value".
SHAME on MTV for promoting such constant vulgarity in every event they are asked to participate in. I pray that this embarassing & deeply disturbing event that has our great nation shaking their heads in shame, will finally realize that we, DO NOT WANT or NEED any more SHOCK VALUE.

insist that the station stop showing sex and violence on TV. I'm sure they can have educational programs or clean sytcom or clean comedy.

The entertainment industry has been pushing moral limits for quite some time now. I think it has had a devastating effect on the morals of our young people. we came against the sports spirit and now the Blazers want to know what happened to all their fans. The prayers of the saints removed the blazer beleivers. I love sports if I'm in them but the greater majority of the body of Christ likes the vacarious sports life and the vacarious church life, and this incident is an indication that something is wrong with the church not just the unsaved who program tv, and the unsaved multitudes that watch and idolize games as the Romans did.

How do I sign this petition? Wrong is wrong, but the TV stations have a 6 second delay, if they had been doing their job right, they could have prevented the viewers from seeing this. As far as the families that went to see the game that is a different story.

Janet Jackson should be very ashamed of herself to expose her body, and Justin as well to be put in this situation. It's an entertainers game to get exposure and publicity, which they are getting. What will be done about this? who knows but our voices will be heard if we stand together!

Sin is creeping into our homes right before our eyes. Yes we have a choice to watch or not but this act on Super Bowl day was truly offensive. I was having a party for my children and explaining to them that the half time entertainment was what was exciting to watch....well that's not the case any more. It embarrassed me and them. What happened on stage between Jackson and Timberlake was definitely unacceptable and over the top and I have no problem with fines being put in place. But, I consider this petition to be over the top as well in that:

1) It only singles out Jackson for condemnation--Justin does not have clean hands; or is this about a judgement based on gender inequity on your part?

2) To me at first, it absolutely looked to be a planned stunt, but several days later, on seeing follow up video and pictures and the looks on Jackson's and Timberlake's faces, I'm not so sure now and I'm not so quick to condemn or to judge--neither should you.

I did not see the game but heard about what happened, It could have been something that was not suppose to have happened but than again it could have been planned ONE WILL NEVER KNOW FOR SURE, but as soon as it happened Ms.Jackson should have left the stage, I feel that worse than part of her costume begin ripped of was the guy that was totally naked on the field, that is what I would be more upset about, he was showing off his whole body, Ms.Jackson (in my opinion) showed off lot less than that guy did. Don't get me wrong I"m not for nudity of any kind in public wether it be on tv or in public it is wrong & something should be done about it but on the other hand something needs to be done to that guy as well. so why aren't we petitioning that as well !!

I do not plan to watch sprots on T.V. because of the events we were
subjected to on Super Bowl programing. Programs that air in "family time"
should not have to be worried by parents that children would be exposed to adult content or language.
Please take actions to stop this and instill trust in the censorship of offensive actions for the sake of our children.

we had a super bowl party and my 5 year old and 14 year old grandc hildren b oth witnessed this outrageous display. However, I am even more upset with ALL of the stations that keep showing the scene over and over again. What would happen to any person doing this in a public place, etc, grocery store, department store. This is indecent exposure. The half-time shows on SuperBowl Sunday are hardly what I would call Christian oriented. Nor is the SuperBowl, it is all about the world, which Jesus called us to be separated from.
