It was certainly a disappointment to see what happened during the half-time show of one of the most widely watched programs by the people of the United States. Personally, until the next day, when all the news of this stunt hit the streets, I wasn't really sure what I had seen. Of course, now I know. It doesn't surprise me greatly because our extremely liberal media is always trying to denigrate higher moral standards. The act was wrong. The suggestive dance, prior to the revealing "tear-off" of the clothing, was inappropriate and distasteful, as well.

I would also like to agree, as stated by a previous person, we need to possibly choose, just to turn the T.V. off, press into God and be more separated from the things of this world. After all, if we are truly "born again", then we are each called by God to choose a more consecrated and holy life.

Jack Kevorkian's first assisted suicide appalled people, but because nothing was done, it was repeated over and over until now increasing numbers of people are accepting and defending it. If this is allowed to pass without being firmly addressed, the same thing will happen, and pretty soon people will be defending it as "free expression" or just an "art" form. It must be nipped in the bud! Too many things are accepted today, even by Christians, that a generation ago were offensive to even the general populace, but because they were now stopped they are now accepted.

I pray that they will confess their sin to the Lord, that the Lord will forgive them and that His glory will come out of this. I think we all need prayer. I agree with the petition against what Janet Jackson did. Please add my name to the petition. Anyone who was involved should have known there was chance for this kind of scandle! You will be held accountable here! The Lord is watching what you do and how it will affect our future for all! Do the right thing before it is too late. Thirty years ago, you would not see advertisements of men and women in their underwear. single men and women living together and sex shown in our homes. Thank God, we have the choice to turn it off. It is really amazing that other countries have stronger moral standards than we do. While many of lesser powers than the US have lower standards, our country must not be in the middle of the pack. As a Christian nation we should have standards of that value. The Bible clearly teaches us to restrain from unfruitful and indecent thoughts and practices. We need to set the standards that are realy there for benifit.

the entire jackson family needs prayer. along with our nation. this nation was built on Christianity. it is the foundation. I agree with my sister above. God did create every part of us and knows every detail, but he does not expect us expose ourselves on any level except to our spouses. You can't just say your a christian and not live it out. God expects us to stand up when we are rightfully angered and let people know that we are different and set apart and will not put up with that kind of disgrace. This is not about getting people in church its about what is morally right according to God. If it was ok for us to expose ourselves in public God would not of made Adam and Eve ashamed of their nakedness in the garden of eden. This is a cause any child of God who still believes in common decency and goodness should take a stand for. I rarely even watch TV anymore except for the Christian channels because smut is smut no matter how you dress it up (or undress it)and TV land is just that-lying, thieving, smutsville whose only God is money ! The bible didn't say that Satan was the prince of the air (waves) for nothing.

Cincinnati— MTV’s halftime show was a slap in the face to parents and youngsters across the country, said the National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families....The Super Bowl started out with a beautiful tribute to NASA and the space shuttle astronauts who lost their lives a year ago but it went rapidly downhill with the halftime show. Parents who gathered to watch the show with their kids were blindsided not only by the baring of Jackson’s breast but also by the freak dancing, crotch grabbing and sexualized lyrics of the music. “CBS clearly made a very poor choice in having MTV design and produce the content of the halftime show,” Rick Schatz, president and CEO of the National Coalition, noted. “The MTV ideology is clearly aimed at promoting a sexualized lifestyle to teens. This time they got the chance to do it on broadcast television instead of cable.” The National Coalition will be polling its constituents to get their feedback on the halftime show. In addition, the organization will be focusing on informing parents about what they really get when they pay for MTV in their cable package.

....The 'flash' seen 'round the world when pop singer Justin Timberlake exposed the breast of Janet Jackson on live television, only seconds after singing, "gonna get you naked by the end of this song"....was just the extreme raunchy ending to the envelope-pushing spectacle that CBS, MTV, and their cadre of pop icons foisted on the American public -- and, by the way, the world. Earlier in the show, the singer Nelly gyrated in a sexually-charged manner that included grabbing his crotch several times as an entourage of cheerleaders behind him performed a mock strip-tease. In the lyrics of his song (please forgive me for being graphic, but I quote this to make a point) he promises that he is "looking for the right time to shoot [his] seed."....This is how far we have descended in the past 40-plus years of the cultural wars. The Middle-American frog has been boiling away in the societal pot, and has only begun to scream because the heat was suddenly and dramatically increased. What is sad is that the frog, in many ways, has been lulled into thinking that the boiling water that is killing him is actually a good thing -- a guise veiled under the vaunted banner of freedom of speech and expression. But freedom of speech -- like all the other freedoms guaranteed by our constitution, and won at the price of the lives of hundreds of thousands who have suffered and died in war to protect it -- must be balanced by the other freedoms we enjoy, and by the responsibility of sober-minded Americans....The point of moral absolutes is that some behavior does hurt people -- a lot of people. The type of sexual display we witnessed during the Super Bowl sends the undeniable message to young people that this behavior is acceptable, and should be a part of their lives. Thus we have skyrocketing instances of sexually-transmitted disease (resulting now in death for some from AIDS or cervical cancer), unwanted pregnancies, wanton abortions, and a trail of shattered lives and broken individuals.That's why civil societies have agreed-upon laws, to curb immoral and dangerous behavior. But those laws must be enforced by our government, and that has not been happening in the media arena when it comes to sexually-explicit content. We have standards in life to protect the innocent -- like the millions of children who saw more than they should have during the half-time show -- from the unchecked lust and passions of sinful human nature. The problem is that if you don't believe in the concept of sin -- that there is a God, who has set standards of behavior, not to keep people from having fun, but to protect them from the mental, emotional, and physical dangers inherent in that behavior -- then who is to say what is right and what is wrong. Where do you draw the line? These are individual questions that must be answered individually. But when individuals flaunt the moral law, it affects the whole of society. That is where the rule of law, the oversight of governmental agencies, and the power of the people in a representative democracy come into play, determining the line between personal liberty, and the common good of society. The networks are scrambling to escape the wrath of an angry public and the FCC over Sunday's halftime show.
The Super Bowl brouhaha is already affecting decision-making at the major networks. ABC, NBC, and CBS are now acting in light of the intense public outcry and a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) investigation....Dave Haverty, president of "Preview Family Movie & TV Review," said the public pressure and the FCC investigation get a lot of credit for the networks' efforts at self-censorship. But advertisers, like the NFL, also hold huge power, he said. "It would (have) very serious repercussions to CBS," Haverty said, "if the NFL canceled their contract with CBS and went someplace else over this." Bill Johnson, president of the American Decency Association, said Americans must continue to speak out — no matter what the FCC ultimately rules. "The crescendo must just increase not decrease," he explained. "The pressure must continue, and we must not falter this time around."

We need to go back to good clean basics especially in an event that is made for the whole family. Most events include some kind of sexual content and we don't do anything to prevent it, we need to stand up and let everyone hear that we don't appove instead of doing nothing. Please add my name to the petition.
We must also remember that Janet is human and she has appologized. The Lord doesn't want us to hate that in itself is a Sin.
We must pray for her and her family - Lord please take the Jacksons in your arms and guide them into godness away from the evil life they lead.

The purpose of the FCC regulation of the television media is to restrain behavior, for the protection of society against the intrusion of things deemed offensive in places considered protected. Bared breasts can be part of television programs, but only on certain cable channels, or on broadcast TV during certain hours and with certain warnings.

The purpose of the petition is to encourage the FCC to enforce its regualtions, so that others tempted to repeat such provocative displays think twice...and decide not to.

The FCC is investigaing the NFL, MTV, the show coordinating staff, and the performers, so perhaps you're even too late to complain that the petition is too late.

In the two-plus hours "before that happened," parents saw not only the commercials featuring a crotch-biting dog, a flatulent horse and a potty-mouthed child but also the number in which the crotch-grabbing Nelly successfully commanded a gaggle of cheerleaders to rip off their skirts. What signal were these poor, helpless adults waiting for before pulling their children away from the set? Apparently nothing short of a simulated rape would do....It's now been more than a quarter-century since Super Bowl X, when the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders first caught the attention of the nation. "The audience deserves a little sex with its violence," Chuck Milton, a CBS sports producer, said back then....This year was not the first MTV halftime show that the league has ordered to try to expand its aging audience beyond the Levitra demographic. The first such collaboration, Super Bowl XXXV three years ago, featured Britney Spears all but falling out of a halter top and numbers in which both Mr. Timberlake (then appearing with 'NSync) and Nelly grabbed their crotches. While what happened is rather unfortunate, I believe we should forgive them and move on. Even if we start a petition, it won't dissolve the sins committed; only Jesus Christ can do that. If a petition is started, that will just spread hate even more. I realize that this indecency can not go on as it is infecting the youth of the nation, but the real way to prevent that is to teach the children of America what is wrong. As a high school senior, I know that when a group of adults comes to children and starts shouting about righteousness, people my age close their ears. The best way to convey a message is not to tell a person they are wrong, but why they are wrong and why they are forgiven.

Please don't add my name to this petition because I feel that more hate will be spread. I really do agree with you all that it was a wrong thing to do but we do not have a right to judge. Only God is the judge and His sons blood can cover any sin and forgive. I think that the television is full of enough junk without celebrities stripping on prime-time television. I am glad and fortunate enough that I did not see it but I have heard about it. It is gross and awful. I really feel that this generation of children are growing up and satan is using dirt to cram into their heads. Pictures like this affect people in many different ways and can cause a lot of damage. Instead I think we should pray for our kids and for these celebrities.



Father, I pray Lord that you would pull down the television companys that promote rubbish and junk. This needs to stop, our children are growing up and they heads are being filled with junk and dirt. I pray that you would rise up Christian programs for people or ages and all tastes. Lord Rise up the people who are willing to proclaim your word, I pray that they would not be filled with pride because of this but they would know that you are using them to do an awesome work. Humble us all Lord and let us see your kingdom come on this earth. I lift up these celebrities who are very messed up and do not know you. I pray that you would humble them, bring them off their worldly thrones and save them. Convict them of what they are doing and save them.

I have read alot here. The problem is that not all christians watch
tv that much so they aren't aware of what horrible things are going on. I prefer to rent movies and watch them after someone else I trust has told me what they think. Then I usually critic them myself because I am very picky what my childrens eye gates, and ear gates are recieving. I think that is why there are not that many who stood up to this. Alot of my friends don't watch tv and those who do are male, which most not all will overlook things females will get up in arms about. Thank you Jerry for being an advocate for the children out there who do not need this garbage and have no one standing up for them. In today's society anything goes and we need to pay more attention to this and wake up church. Come on this not standing for what we believe in is why there is no praying in schools, why Rowe vs. Wade was passed. Lets call society on this sin problem and stand up against it.
