I just wanted to say that I really have enjoyed and been blessed by your site. I have a question for you. How do you know if someone really cares about serving the Lord? There is this guy at church that my sister and I have been hanging around but I'm concerned that he maybe having a negative affect on me. I mean it can be confusing if you look at it in the natural because it looks like he has helped me but at the same time I wonder if he has harmed me spiritually. He almost seems to have a don't care attitude, cusses(dosen't seem to bother him), talks about movies(American Pie etc.) like they are so cool but at the same time will say don't watch that out of his mouth, etc. He seems to glory in sin and the things he used to do before he got saved. It almost seems like his heart is in the world where as half of his mind is trying to serve Christ. When I said it was confusing one night I was really dumpy and he called and I talked to him. After I got off of the phone with him I went to bed lighter and singing in the Spirit. At the same time though I feel that maybe I don't care about the things of God like I used to. I'm not saying I've backslidden or anything but thoughts I've had and attitudes that have come my way weren't there before. If not stop seeing him altogether maybe not so much. The other week about everyday we saw him for extended periods of time. My sister talked to him about some of these things and he seems more interested in talking about our viewpoint than being disturbed to truly change. It seems that he keeps wanting to talk to get assurance that he is ok. Like predjudices towards other people have come into my heart because of a facial expression he will make or something that he will say. The other night at his Bible study it seemed that his mom was trying to prove herself as a Christian. She told me that she can't stand it when people cuss, and that it really bothers her but if I'm not mistaken at some point that night I heard her say a word. I'm not saying that if a cuss word slips out of your mouth you aren't a Christian but you have to care about changing. Right??? She made it a point to ask me if I had watched the Emmys the other night and told me that it was trash and maybe something that she didn't know what the world was coming to. Why would she bother to make these comments if in her heart she knew she was right with God??? The way she asked them seemed like she was trying to prove herself. I know peoples prayers have lifted me up. I probably would be insane by now if it wasn't for the Holy Ghost. At times I've just shut myself away and prayed in the Spirit. Praise God for baptizing me with the Holy Ghost!!! If it wasn't for Him I don't know where I'd be(also others prayers). The other day I was weakened to a point that if I had been around people who were doing wrong I might have joined in. Anyway I know this is long enough. What do you think??? God Bless you Jerry and family!!!

Lord I pray for this ministry that You will bless it mightly in Jesus name. That you will put a hedge of protection around it and let all attacks of the enemy fall at their feet. Let Your Spirit guide and direct and Your Perfect Will be done. In Jesus name. Amen. Thank You Lord for doing it!!!

Sounds like he's newly saved. Is he? I would pray for them. Prayer works, amen?

Lord, bring them close to you. Let them walk in your ways. Deliver them from strongholds. Open their eyes and let their hearts be receptive. Continue to work on them, help them to be teachable and to grow in the ways of the Lord, in Jesus name, amen and amen.

He says he has been a Christian for 3 or 4 years...

Everyone grows up in the LORD at their own rate. It depends on their hunger for the things of God and how willing they are to let go of worldly things. For four years AFTER I was saved, I still drank, smoked, cursed and didn't think it was the church's duty to be against abortion. If any Christian saw me they'd have NO EVIDENCE of my salvation. I try to remember that now [saved now 11 years next month], when I see some who says they are saved yet still have bad habits and worldly mindsets. I knew those habits were wrong and in time I was able to GIVE THEM to God and RECEIVE His cleanliness. If one is truly saved, they will eventually produce good fruit. I know lots of people get totally clean and set free immediately at salvation, but I don't think that is the norm. We have to WALK OUT our salvation every day. We have to RENEW OUR MINDS with the Word of God. We have to CRUICIFY our flesh. The goal is to get our minds, will and emotions and body to LINE UP UNDER GOD'S SPIRIT in us and let the Spirit guide us.

If you are more mature than your friend [which sounds like the case], pray for him, do spiritual warfare so the seeds planted in him will grow and flouish, be an example of what a mature Christian is and walk in love.
If he's hooked on to the Vine, he WILL produce good fruit!

Soundsl ike he's still living with one foot in the world. He needs to make a total commitment to the Lord and receive the Holy Spirit....its Him who strengthens us.
We can be Christians for years, but not live in the power that He has given us, just because we haven't fully surrendered to Him.

Lord, please bring our brother face to face with himself and help him to open up the darkest little corners of his heart to You. Help him come into total obedience. Give him the WILL to want to!
I bind the influence his mother has over him, and i unleash the power of Your Spirit in his heart. You love this young man so much and are just longing to take his life into Your own, but only if he agrees to fully surrender to You. Help him to take the step Lord, if there is fear, then wipe it away with Your love and security.
Thankyou for this sister bringing him in prayer to You, thankyou for her compassion. Please continue to guide her and lead her as You have been doing. Give her strength to live each day in You, help her to have confidence in herself. Her love for You is so obvious Lord, thankyou for all the blessing You are pouring out on Your daughter.
In Jesus name. Amen.
