Jerry, I need your help!

Jerry, not long ago I stood in agreement with you on the thread about "Once saved always saved". I recently started attending a class at my home church. The class is for new believers, and I felt led there to go back to the basics. The class book is a manuscript written by one of the assistant pastors on staff.

In the first lesson (I was in another class at the time) they talked about "eternal salvation". The pastor goes on in his book to state that it is heresy for anyone to tell you that you can loose your salvation. I was led back to the thread on this topic, and wrote a paper on this matter in order to clarify my position and gain a better understanding of these truths.

The problem is now what should I do with this information? Should I confront the pastor and explain my views, that through disobedience and sin your name can be blotted out of the book of life. That there are at least three unforgivable sins--blaspheming the Holy Spirit, taking the mark of the beast and sinning away your day of grace.

I guess the worst thing that can happen to me is I might be kicked out of this church--but the worst thing that can happen to misled believers is they might spend eternity in an undesireable place.

I would appreciate your prayers for me, that the Holy Spirit would continue to guide me with this and all other revelations. In Jesus mighty name
-thanks,
Bruce

All you have to do is see what they believe.

I think of the harm this has done to the body of Christ.
When people fall in sin so many pastors say they were never really saved but did nothing to stop the sin as long as they were coming to their church.

Think of the millions who have gone to hell because they thought they were ok.

Sam Morris, Baptist preacher in Stamford, TX wrote an article entitled, "Do A Christian's sins damn his souls"? Here is a quote from the article: "We take the position that a Christian's sins do not damn his soul. The way a Christian lives, what he says, his character, his conduct, or his attitude toward other people have nothing whatever to do with the salvation of his souls...And all the sins he may commit from murder to idolatry will not make his soul in any more danger.

Bill Foster, Baptist preacher in Louisville KY made this comment: "If I killed my wife and mother and debauched a thousand women I couldn't go to hell--in fact, I couldn't go to hell if I wanted to."

Although these statements appear repulsive, they genuinely represent the official view of most evangelical churches.

Apostasy
1. Definition - to stand away from Jesus and renounce Him, having previously identified with Him.
2. Examples of Scriptural support
I Tim. 4:1 - "some will fall away from the faith"
Heb. 3:12 - "falling away from the living God"
Heb. 6:4-6 - "tasted of heavenly gift and then fallen away"
F. Revocation or alienation
1. Definition - the severing and termination of identification with Jesus Christ.
2. Examples of Scriptural support
John 15:6 - "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away.."
I Cor. 9:27 - "lest I should be disqualified"
Gal. 5:4 - "you have been severed from Christ..fallen from grace"
II Pet. 2:20,21 - "last state is worst than the first"

The Bible says murdarers will have their part in the lake of fire. So if my friend -- who entered a "not guilty" plea -- doesn't repent, he is going to hell. He has professed to be a Christian since I met him. What happened to "By your fruits you shall know them"? (Matthew 7:16 & 20)If he isn't showing the fruits, can we say he's saved? The Bile says, "He that endures to the end will be saved." (Matthew 10:22) How can we know if a guy who goes to the alter today and prays a "sinners prayer" WILL endure to the end? In Revelation he told the one church he would remove their lampstand unless they repented (Revelation 2:5). He said (Revelation 2:10) "Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life." Sounds like they could lose that crown if not faithful. He said He would fight against another church with the sword of his mouth (Revelation 2:16). To "the corrput church" he said he would cast those who committed adultary with Jezebel into tribulaiton, unless they repented of their deeds (Revelation 2:22) To one church, He said He would come like a thief and they wouldn't know the hour he came (Revelation 3:3). (sounds like the five foolish virgins, Matthew 25:1-12). Another church He told to "Hold fast what you have that no one may take your crown." (Revelation 3:11) When it came to the lukewarm church, He was knocking at the door of their hearts, so they would open to Him (Revelation 3:20)....Sounds like they didn't even know Him!!! This calls to mind Matthew 7:21-23, where He said not everyone who cried "Lord, Lord," would enter the kingdom of heaven and told them, "I never knew you!"

Hell is a real place, and I don't want to go there. I don't want anyone else to go there. The above scriptures make it plain you can go there even after praying a "sinners prayer."
