Why Do You Think Jesus Picked Judas As One Of His Disciples?

Posted by: jedijeb

Matthew 17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name; those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but for the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Here Jesus is talking to the Father about the deciples and the son of perdition if Judas. Jesus called those that the Father led Him to call, and God knew the heart of Judas even before he was called. God did not make him betray Jesus, but He knew that when Judas was faced with the situation that was to come that he would betray Him.

Yes..i Agree Totally....but This Is Another Thought That Came To Me That Is Along The Same Line.......im Sure That The Other Disciples Thought That Judas Loved Jesus And Followed Him And Served Him Just As Much As They Did...the Only One That Knew Judas's True Intentions And His True Heart Was Jesus...and He Made Sure That The Other Disciples Knew That He Knew Judas Was Going To Betray Him Before He Did........i Think That This Is A Really Good Example That Jesus Gave...its Like A Big Caution Sign To Us All..........just Because A Person Appears To Be A Christian And He Surrounds Himself With Christians Doesnt Mean He Is A Christian......and We May Be Fooled By A Mans Way...but God Isn't...he Always Knows Whats In A Mans Heart.......put No Faith In Man But Only In God!

Yes i agree.

Not everyone who says to Me 'Lord, Lord' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord'have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?
And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlesness.
Matthew 7:21-23

That is a great observation, and I believe it is totally true, also to add to it, Jesus pointed it out to the disciples at the last supper but none of them really understood what He was saying. In fact they really didn't get the fact that He was telling them He was going to die. Sometimes we can get caught up in the " happy feeling" of being with the Lord that we fail to listen to what He says and we miss the warnings He gives us. Jesus wants us to be happy and full of joy, but He also wants us to be wary of the attacks of the enemy before they come. While that would seem to put a damper on the joy, it really doesn't, it protects us so that the joy won't leave us, but we do have to listen or we will be caught off guard and miss out on some of the blessings He has for us.

Also, remember this, Judas was prophesied about in the psalms, and Jesus came to fulfill all prophecy. God had ordained it hundreds of years before, and Jesus did exactly what God had told Him to do, therefore picking Judas was divine appointment.
