Judgmental

I've wondered for years what causes some Christians to have judgmental attitudes. Some of us don't want to respond to some prayer requests, accept some people into our churches, or even witness to some people. Even here, some posters sound like their posts are more important than others or "the accurate information." Wonder what causes us to be like that?

For myself, when I see a bag lady lately, I've been saying, "the Lord loves her just as much as he loves me." I'm going to start praying for them.

I so agree with you. Just today, I saw a post that wasn't as Christian as it should be (judgmental). I think that it is important that we embrace all people as time is short for the complete harvest of souls. Even Jesus, our example, went to the "common people"....so I think that we should as well. We should make sure that what we say, write and do is in accordance with the word because even before we became children of Christ, we were in the shoes of so many that visit this site. Be Blessed my friends.

I Also Agree With The Two Of You...i Think If Someone Takes The Time To Register And Post A Prayer On This Site They Should Not Be Made To Feel Judged Or Like Their Prayer Reguest Is Not Important...the Least Of Our Concerns Are Important To God....and Like Was Stated Earlier....this May Be The Only Contact You Will Ever Have With This Person Any Time In Your Life....dont Blow It By Being Judgemental....at The Least We Can Just Pray Gods Will Be Done.....

I agree.Christians are sometimes more judgmental. I have noticed that alot of christians automatically jump to the worst possible conclusion. I can't tell you how many times I have read a post from someone who just wants prayer for their girlfriend or boyfriend, and immediatly the first response is " Well, they must be having sex". And some one just goes on and on about sex. And the writer had never said anything about sex. I think that when someone has such a immediate reaction that it must be them that has the problem.

I will agree with you there Rachel, I have seen that happen many times. Sometimes it is obvious and if it is we have to take a stand by saying what is right and not praying for something that is wrong, but even then it must be done in love and with compassion. I ask the Holy Spirit to guide my prayers and there are times when I will offer a prayer which really doesn't seem to fit the request but it just feels that I am led to offer that prayer.

There is also that fine line between being judgmental and reproof. When Jesus came to the temple and found the money changers there, He didn't just ask them quietly to leave, He ran them out. But knowing when to use a strong hand and when not to is something that must be done with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is probably better to err on the side of gentleness when you don't know which to use. It really does irk me when someone just tears into someone right from the start. If we see someone doing wrong as it says in the Bible we should take them aside and admonish them quietly avoiding embarrassment, sometimes that doesnt work and we have to be stronger, but only when necessary. There is a time and a place for everything, we just have to seek which it is the time for.
