Signature and Partners Concern

Hi!

I love this place! Thank you for all your hard work and bringing it about! Praise God!

Question #1:

I'm trying to put a verse in for my signature that describes my situation and I cannot shorten it enough for the 500 character limit. Is it possible to have more room for sigs? Here is what I wanted to post after much chopping and splicing:

"I thought about my ways & turned my feet... I made haste, & did not delay... You have dealt well with Your servant... Teach me good judgment & knowledge... Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word. You are good, & do good; teach me... It is good for me that I have been afflicted that I may learn Your statutes. The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold & silver. I know, O Lord, that Your judgments are right, & that in faithfulness You have afflicted me. Let... Your merciful kindness be for my comfort... Frm Psalm119:59-76"

Question #2:

I've heard there will be a partners section for those who support the ministry financially. I've read that perhaps some functions (such as PM's) will be limited to those people. I'm terribly impoverished right now in the physical world, and do tithe to my church. Will there be "scholarships" for people like me?

At this moment there are actually other reasons as to why we limit the signature characuters. In the beginning it was only 200 characuters, which of course we raised to 500. One reason we limit it is because that people on modems have a hard enough time as it is loading pages, and adding in even more would make it even more time consuming. Also that the server itself has to parse out the signature on each and every post, which requires a fair amount of resources. Raising that limit, as busy as the site is, would require to much of the cpu.
When we do actually upgrade the servers we would then have the power to offer larger signatures. Sounds like a good idea for another partner addon.

You know, honestly, I had not even thought about that aspect. It is a possibility, but remains something I would have to work on. The system is 100% automated so that once a person joins and their donation goes through they are automatically upgraded. When donations are cancelled or declined the persons account switches back to a normal status.
At this moment in time, I do not have the ability to manually add people to the group, but will someday.
The main aspect to the partners area will be to provide the higher bandwidth aspects of our site to it's partners. Features such as the archives from the nightly broadcasts, Jerry's sermons, and archives of other ministries.
If those features were offered to our 'general members' then our bandwidth bill would skyrocket, as the files avg between 40 and 90 megs each. Imagine all 12k members downloading even one sermon.
60MB x 12k = 720GB or approx $2,000 & $2,500 in bandwidth for that file.
I realize that seems way out there, but having archives with numerous files, updated daily, it would work out the same as having 10% of our members downloading only a dozen archives.
I don't want to get into the overall costs of running the servers, but suffice it to say it's quite high allready. We hope to continue to grow by sharing this ministry opportunity with our members. Those members that are able to become partners will be directly helping to spread the word of this amazing resource for prayer to even more people around the world.

My question about signatures is this:

I tried to put a page address in, so it showed up on every signature, but it would not open. Some people put in something like "Click here for MARRIAGE THREAD" and when I click "MARRIAGE THREAD" I could go right there. How do I do this? We are trying to get a prayer vigil going. And I don't want to have to keep finding the address to the time slots thread.

Thanks Shawn. The only partners feature I am concerned about losing is the PM function, which I read was going to be stopped for those who aren't partners. (I'm sure the services and everything are wonderful, but I am on a dial-up on a slow modem and probably won't be downloading them.) I try not to share my personal name, email address, or details on my threads, but do share them in PM's, as well as more personal conversations that don't really belong on the threads. I would really hate to lose that function.

Praying For Restoration-- just to let you know, there is nothing that is 100% private, as all logs, including pm's are on file, and all areas can be accessed by admins. & read. I can understand that our safety is an issue, because some have been taken advantage of in pm's...what I Don't understand though...if we aren't to be sharing personal info in pm's...then why is the opportunity to include where others can link to the yahoo instant messenger, the aol im,the msn im & E-mail all included in the profiles? This has puzzled me.

JeriRose, to do a link... you click on the 2nd little picture on the top, NEXT to the one that looks like mountains... click on the little world with the link of chain on it...a little box will come up that says SCRIPT PROMPT..this is where you put *click here for prayer vigil * and then hit enter, and then you put the url where it is, on the next box...make sure you have this handy when you get to this step, so you can include it.I think that you can figure it out!

Gotta get to bed.. my arm is hurting from all this typing, & is screaming at me!!

Hi Starchilde,

I don't mind that admins can read it, that's a good safety thing too. But I still would like to have that function if I can't donate and be a partner. It is one thing for the admins to be able to read it, and another to post some things out on the prayer board for a zillion people, some of whom we don't even know, to read. There are a lot of people with similar issues to mine and we get into conversations via PM on details that aren't really prayers, and are just, well, more private.

yes PFR, I agree that the prayer board areas for prayer should be kept as that... for prayer.I cannot say that I have 100% kept to prayers, as I have gotten into some discussions over the time I have been here, and in the prayer area, I am doing better with that though!

I know too, there have been those with similar situations, that have either pm'ed me, or I have pm'ed about things. There are still areas of my life I consider as private, even though I have divulged a lot about myself over the past 4 3/4 months that I have had the blessing to be with anointed.net. I have an upper right arm injury of some sort, hurt while lifting my son, so it has REALLY curtailed my being on here, & on the computer much at all, and I really miss praying for others~ Praise God for my arm getting better each day, for its healing!

The signature link is not working, StarChilde. Either it says "This page can not be displayed" when I click on it. Or it says something about not being able to open that forum -- and if I followed a valid link report it to the webmaster. I clicked on the world with the chain links. I entered *Click here for Baptism with the Holy Ghost and Fire!!!* I then hit enter. In the next box, I entered the page address exactly as it appeared starting with the "www.annointed.net...." I hit enter again. It appeared in my signature. It lit up when I put the finger on it and started to try to open the page....But then I got those messages that I couldn't open the page or enter the forum.

Any hint what I'm doing wrong?

ok i highlighted the url to this post, will run a test,....

*test* run for link

then I cut the url out, and pasted directly into the link... i will see where it takes me... but that's how it's done. It does bring me back to here...

if you pm me the url, I will fix it where you can just copy & paste it into your signature & use it... ok?

Sorry, I never responded back to you. Just side tracked, I guess. Busy site! Busy me.... Anyway, if I put the url into my signature should it work? I tried that before to no results. I lost that thread I was trying to link people to. But, eventually, I would like a thread about the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that I could link everyone to who wants to know more and pray to be filled. I will go search for that thread and PM you the address. How about that? Not sure where that thread is. Didn't subscribe.
