How to solve a problem with a wedding ring that keeps falling off.

I posted this within another thread but thought I would share it more openly here.
Can I tell a story? My friends kept encouraging me to "go on with my life" after my husband didn't return as planned from a trip. (I hate that phrase but they all say it one way or another.) My life is paralyzed. I can't ignore the fact that God has called a halt on my path to the promised land and has me in the desert seeking Him first and giving me manna.
Anyway, under the influence of friends, I took my wedding ring off. I had lost weight with the "broken heart" diet and it was slipping off alot and that was my excuse. Then I lost the ring. I started to really miss it and felt a strong desire to find it and wear it. I couldn't find it anywhere. Kmart had a 70% off sale of their jewlery and I bought a wedding band for around $20. As soon as I bought that ring (a half size smaller than the original ring) I found the other one on a ring holder right beside the bible on the bed side table. If it was there before, I didn't see it.
Now I wear both rings. The original ring is worn first and the new ring is worn on top of it. (They are both just plain gold narrow bands.) The smaller new one keeps the other one from slipping off when I shower or do dishes or even wash my hands.
I see the outer ring, the one that keeps the original ring from falling off as the the ring my spiritual husband (The Lord) gave me. It represents that only He can keep my marriage from slipping away.
Somehow I hope that this idea helps someone think about their marriage problems in a different light.
Without the Lord, anyone's marriage is likely to slip away.

i love this story!!!! thanks for sharing it. oddly enough, when i told my hubby i "wanted out" i gave him back my ring (i always only had the engagement ring, not a wedding band b/c i thought the one ring was enough). a family member gave me a beautiful band with little diamonds as an Easter present (it looks almost like a wedding band) and i wear that to work, etc. it reminds me i am still married and helps to keep "evil" away (if you know what i mean).
again, i loved you story! thank you for sharing it!!!!! Keep the faith and do what you do best: wait onthe Lord! God bless you! {{{hugs}}}
