Failed Church

I have a special request to all prayer warriors out there.

The church that I used to attend failed. It started out in the Pastors home with 10 members, and grew so much he had to rent space in an office building. There were well over 60 members and it seemed that it was growing. It was growing, then the sin of pride, judgement, and favoritism got a hold of the Pastor and his wife. The church ended up with five members. They shut the doors last week. About six months ago, one of the members of the church who has an amazing prophetic gift told the pastor that he had a word from the Lord that the church was going to dissolve. The Pastor yelled at him, told him never to come back to the church, never to pray for he or his family again. He did other things like this to others.

I am not trying to bad mouth this man. Please don't take it like that, because that is not what I am doing. He started out preaching with the best of intentions. He obeyed God when he was called into ministry. He quit a job that was paying well over two hundred thousand a year to follow God.

Near the end before the fall of the church, he was very rude to the members who didn't take his suggestions, by telling them that they should do what he says because he is the pastor and they are to submit to him. He showed great favoritism to the members who did obey him.

This is not the pastor that he used to be. This neighborhood that I live in is a very urban/chic/bohemian/alternative place. This neighborhood is considered the gay of houston. There are tattoo studios, occult shops, new age and non-christian shops and churches everywhere. It is a very hip and happening place to live if you are Godless. There is even a church that calls itself a Methodist Christian church with a lesbian as the Priest!

So, you can imagine, that the demonic strongholds are very strong here, and any Christian church that preaches the TRUTH about Jesus is going to come under attack.

My former pastor came under attack, and I am sad to say that he lost the battle because of his pride and his desire to be admired and praised. He was not like this before.

A friend of mine had lunch with him last week, and his exact words were "If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. I didn't do anything wrong."

So, I am asking anyone who is led by the Lord, to pray that he will be willing to be teachable, and accept that his church failed due to some of his actions and sins. I know, that if he gets rid of that junk, he will have an AMAZING ministry in the future.

I am not going to mention his name out of respect, just his first initial. "M". The Lord knows who he is, so please pray for "M" and his family if you are led.

Dear Lord,
This is such a delicate situation that requires your deep intervention on behalf of this pastor and the Christians he was leading.
Please cast out any demonic influences that are hindering this ministry!
Show this pastor any errors or straying from your Word that he might have done.
Lead him "not into temptation, but deliver him from evil."
Let the congregation hear your voice and let them be willing to forgive him of any wrongdoing from the past.
Dear Lord, bars and places of great sin are flourishing in this city, so I pray that you will bring forth churches here that are truly Spirit-filled and can bring you, Jesus, into this place and cast out those places not of you!
Please take over this situation and if this pastor is truly called of you, let him allow himself to be totally under your authority and to follow only what is in your Word and under your complete and holy direction!
May the love of Jesus and the restoration of Christians, and the bringing of lost souls to you be the only objective of this church.

Holy Father,

I praise You Almighty God for what You do and Who You are. Churches, pastors, movements of Your Spirit, the reaction of Your people - it's all in Your hand Father. We believe Your word Lord that if we cast all our cares upon You, if we humble ourselves under Your mighty hand then You will exalt us in do time because You care for us. You know Lord, we just want to live and be fruitful trees in Your kingdom. You told us to come together and You would be in the midst. You gave us the example of fellowship while You walked this earth. So we believe that in due time You will fulfill Your word in us. Give us the patience we need so that after we've done the Your will Oh Lord, we might receive the promise.

We trust You Lord God.

I would be wasting my time and prayers to ask God to fix this man that does not want to be fixed! The first step in loosing the influences that brought this church down, would be the pastor recognizing his wrongdoing, and asking for help. He needs to confess and ask for forgiveness. The spirit of pride covers up the spirit of religion, and the spirit of religion covers up the spirit of pride. Both can bring about swift destruction, especially when they are working together.

Heavenly Father, I ask You to show "M" right now, in the name of Jesus, the errors of his ways. I pray that you would bring this man to a point of recognition, that he would realize what happened, and ask You for forgiveness. I pray that "M" would seek to repent of his ways, of his harsh words and swift judgement of others, in Jesus mighty name.

I pray that those that followed him would find a new church home without the pride, without the spirit of religion. Let the healing begin, now, in Jesus mighty name.
