Have You Hear of the Faith Prayer Rug?

Has anyone heard of this Faith Prayer Rug? Someone mentioned it at work, and when I got hoime, it was in my mail box. The outside of the envelope says:

Dear Jesus, we pray that You will bless someone in this houise spiritually, physically & financially.... and goes on along those lines.

The upshot is, I have to kneel on the "faith prayer rug" and pray for my needs to be met. Then, I list what I am believing for on this form on Page 2 of the cover letter. I am to put this in my Bible at Philippians 4:19 and leave it there for 24 hours -- the NEXT 24 hours -- I am to wait no longer. Then, I mail this back to them, so they can mail the "rug" out to someone else. (It is just a sheet of paper with the drawing of a rug featuring Jesus, with the crown of thorns). This is from St. Matthews Church, which they keep reminding me is 53 years old. This rug is "aturated in prayer." I do not HAVE to send any money. But I can if I choose to. They will pay postage to send me a "spiritual gift" in return for mailing this back to them.

What do you guys think?

It was just prophecied to me that I would receive financial and spiritual blessings. So is this God saying it's time for that prophecy to be fulfilled? Or is this the devil trying to get me to go about it by some bogus method?

I always do my giving expetcing a harvest. And I believe in points of contact, like prayer cloths. I write down what I am believing for when I give to various ministries. I was just feeling a little uncertain about this. It all sounds OK. Jesus is mentioned throughout the letter, as well as the Holy Ghost. And they said they had prayed over this, because they wanted to see people blessed.

Maybe you guys can get a dicerning on this. Or pray about it and see what the Lord tells you. I am praying, too. Because it is time sensetive, I am wanting to know if I should do it. Often, they will talk about God stirring the waters, and it's time to move/act, then. I beleive in that. I have often given to Trinity Broadcasting Network during telethon at such times. So.... I am wondering if this is pretty much the same or if it's not right?

Because they said "If you don't own a Bible that's okay, just put it under your matress," I kind of had second thoughts. Because are they saying God will bless any, old body who has no faith in Him? Is their faith in Him or in the prayer rug? On the other hand, this might be God's way of showing unbelievers His power so they will want to know Him. I can see it different ways.

Anyhow....

Any advice or thoughts or a word from the Lord on this would be appreciated.

I just had a thought: If my faith is in God when I kneel on this and mail this back, etc., then God will answer according to my faith. Not according to whether I used this rug.

I think you should do it based on faith, not faith in the rug. If others are truly praying with you then it may be ok. Listen to the Holy Spirit. If something doesn't seem quite right then do not do it. Remember Satan is the father of confusion.

God bless you.

Dear heavenly Father I come before you to ask for a clear answer to appear to Jerirose. Allow her to see clearly where you want her to sow and what you want her to do. Give her keen discernment and protect her from any fraud. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

They never asked me to give. They suggested I could. But they will even pay postage (there is no postage necessary if mailed in the US.) I am doing it as a fleece now. I filled out the form and am praying with the rug on my knees (I could kneel or it had to be touching both knees). I already kneeled on it.

I receive mail from them too and I think it's a cute way for witnessing.
They keep sending me things and never ask for anything. I look forward to getting their mail in anticipation of what next.
It's interesting to me and I think the things they ask you to do is just establishing a "point of faith" like when God told that prophet in the Bible to dip in the water 7 times.
It's perfectly harmless and hey, what can it hurt?
After all, you don't have to commit to anything and that's rare nowadays!
I'm praying their ministry will prosper in Jesus' name!
God bless.

Well, one of my co-workers just happened to mention it today. I've NEVER heard of it. Then I get home, and it's in my mail box!!! So it seemed kind of like God saying it was of Him, especially following that prophecy that the devourer would be rebuked off my life soon. If I mail it in and nothing happens, then it was a hoax. If something DOES hapen, then Praise the Lord! This girl at work said someone had gotten $48,000 after doing it. I almost thought she indicated she and her boyfreind had filled it out. If they get an answer, then that would be cool, as God would get the glory. Anyway, I will probably mail it 24 hours from when I filled it out and prayed over it. Actually, still have it on my knes.... Maybe I will even send money. After all, it's a prayer minsitry. And I'm for that.

Hi again,
The point is, when you mail it, you don't mail it to see if it works or not, they want you to mail it and use your faith to BELIEVE it WILL work!
It is a point of contact for your faith.
You see, when you mail it, you take it to the mail box and before you put it in you say,
"Lord, I am using this for my point of faith to show you I am believing in everything you have promised me if I am faithful and obedient to you so I am claiming it in Jesus' name and thank you forever, dear Lord."
Then you mail it and don't just wait and see but EXPECT IT and be on the lookout for your blessing!
It's like when it rains, you don't put a bucket out in the yard and hope rain will fall in it- you expect it to and know it will. See the difference?
God bless.

Yes, I do understand. Oh, well, my faith is in God, with or without the rug....since I was a little skeptical about it all. I will ask Him to bless anyway.

I've been tithing and giving, Lord. So please rebuke the devourer. You know what I need by this weekend. Please supply it miraculously.

Hi Jeri!

We got this supposed prayer rug yesterday and if you send anything back to them then they have just collected:

1) Your address.

2) Your Name.

3) Your needs so they can send out junk to you.

Not to mention the possibility of identity theft.

If you send them a check then you open the door for them to steal even more from you because they can use your name, address, and bank account number in ways that you never dreamed!

If you have not sent it... DON'T.

You don't need this for God to answer your prayer OR to answer his Word over you!

Father, please put an end to this fraudulent letter and "prayer rug". In the Name of Jesus, do not allow Your children to be hurt because they answer it. AMEN!

Have you heard that they are using it for indentity theft, Carol?

I already prayed over the situation, and I did mail it. I was testing the spirits by seeing what came of it, I guess. The Old Testement says the way to know if a prophet is real is to see if his words come true....

I mailed one back several months ago... I didn't see it as fraudulent as many places have access to name lists... I have had other churches do this as well. As far as any getting your check info... there is the chance of that everytime someone uses a check, to a church or otherwise.
Yes discernment, yet listen to one's heart & pray as well. God bless~

Trinity Broadcasting Network does close to the same with their "the water's are being stirred" sermons (so get in now). I often send to TBN. In fact I did this time when Jentzen Franklin preached about purity and said those who wanted mates should call.... Keep praying brothers and sisters!!! Anyway, if this church has drenched this thing in prayer, why not plug in to that anointing? If it's simply a point of contact.... Anyway, I plead the blood over myself a lot, and I know that has protected me many times!!!

And if it's like the drowing man who was sent a boat, a hellicoptor, etc. then said, "Lord, why didn't you rescue me?" and the Lord said, "I sent you a boat and a hellicoptor...." I didn't want to be in that boat (no pun intendend !)

The first thought that came to me reading your initial post was about this woman I knew who frequently spoke of "sending out a fleece." I know the bible fairly well and could guess this was from the Old Testament because I had never heard of it and I know the New Testament better than the old.

I ignored her at first. But eventually asked her to explain. She said whenever she wanted to know what to do she would tell God that if (such and such) happened than I know I am to do (such and such.)

I felt the need to rebuke her and we went to read about the Temptations of Jesus during his 40 day fast. He said: "You shall not test Your God." She disagreed and said I didn't understand.

But, I know the enemy also heard her "fleece" and I hadn't seen much discernment of spirits in her so I didn't think she should trust this. She of course responded with the "Sacred Lots" mentioned in the Old Testament (I just read about them a few nights ago in the story of Joshua and dividing up the promised land amoung the 12 tribes.)

I don't think I am off topic here. There are many who believe that God works through paper "prayer rugs" or through "fleece" or possibly by "sacred lots" (the later of which I hope is not used especially.)

If God is going to answer your prayer, it is a done deal. Yet sometimes, God will let us use tools to help build our faith.

My "prayer rug" is the 700 Club. Over and over again I have called them for prayer and if the prayer warrior prays for a certain event to occur, it does. I have learned to really trust that it will. So much so that when I have doubts I will remind myself that the prayer warrior said it would be thus and I know God will answer that prayer.

So, JeriRose, I see nothing wrong with this paper prayer rug. I might not choose to use it, but then, I don't like motorized tooth brushes and I'll bet they clean peoples teeth just as well as my regular brush. It is just a matter of what tool to use to build your faith.

If you are talking about Saint Matthew's, the guy has made millions; do a web search & you'll see all of the disappointed Christians.

However if you want to send a buck I guess it's up to you, amen ?

You know, I never heard back from these guys that I recollect. I didn't get a lot of junk mail or anything. I also don't know as I got a huge amount of blessings. Not mammoth, anyway, if that's what I was supposed to get. I guess it matters not if I kneel on a piece of paper or the floor, as long as my faith is in God. I know that many needs have been met since that time. . .and I had totally forgotten about mailing this in. I don't think it can be attributed to this prayer rug, as much as to may faith in God to supply. And my continued tithing and giving. (Wow, that was three years ago. I moved a time or two since then, so they would have lost my address, anyway.) All I know is, God has blessed me with many good gifts. I'm glad He doesn't require us to kneel on some little piece of paper to get a blessing. We can just obey His Word about tithing and giving and believe in faith and He will supply. Probably, if I got that today, I wouldn't kneel on it, mail it in, etc. But then, I already know it didn't seem to make a huge difference in my life. . . .

Thanks for the info, nycrick. I don't want to be lining some guys pockets, so he is the one getting the blessings financially. . . .
