Anna's mother writes:

I went to the hospital last night and ANNA IS OFF THE OSCILLATOR!!!!! This is a major step for her. The original plan was to try to get her off it today but she was doing so well that the dr. decided to try it yesterday afternoon and she was doing very well off it. She is still on the ventilator and will be for a while. She is not getting the paralytic drug anymore and she was moving a lot last night while I was there. The nurse said she's waking up. She's been on such a high dose of sedative for almost 2 weeks so they have to wean her off that very slowly so she doesn't get any withdrawal-type problems. They did lower the dosage of that a little early yesterday evening. I think she knew I was there with her this time.

I asked about her pneumonia and the nurse said Anna's chest xray yesterday afternoon was the best of all the kids in the ICU. The respiratory therapist came in while I was there and checked Anna's lungs but she said she didn't hear anything in there to suction out. The nurse said they'd tried to suction out her lungs and got nothing. A week ago they were getting tube after tube of gunk out of her lungs.

The prayers are working! Please continue to pray for her.

Thank you all!

Love, Jo Ann
