I know that gossip can lead to no good but I was told that the person who I thought I was my friend has been talking and saying mean things about me behind my back. I do not how I should handle this situation. Pray that I will know what to do and what to say. I do not want to hurt her but I do not think I should be a door mat eather.

Mattie, i would first pray that the Lord give me the right words to say, and then i would go and talk to her about it.
If it's not resolved, a root of bitterness can very well spring up. Even if she doesnt ask forgiveness, you have to forgive her according to God's word. And that is your responsiblity to the Lord.
If she doesn't respond, then its her responsibility towards God. You just take care that YOU can look the Lord in His eyes....

I read this verse this evening funnily enough....
"Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.
If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men."Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath, for it is written: Vengeance is mine,I will repay, says the Lord. .................................................. .................................................. .....Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
Ropmans 12:17-19,21.

God bless, sis.

Your words are like a soothing balm for my pain. I am trying keep my words from being bitter when I speak with her even today because we go to the same church. I want my actions to be upright and beyond reproach. I hate confrontation and pray that I will not have to but I fear I must. Keep me in prayer because I do not want my words to be daggers. You also came up with the perfect scipture about vengeance being the Lords. The Lord knows what has been said and the pain her words have caused. Vengeance is not mine but the Lords. Keep me in prayer and thank you for the soothing balm.

Hold your head high. Ignore the gossip, unless she says something to you. Above all pray and don't become involved in it. When others see that you are dignified and do what is right what can they say? Don't tell this person any of your personal business and for now keep your relationship with her on a business level.

Father, please protect her from the hurt and harm of any one who means to harm her. Turn the bad to good and order her steps to be strong and of good courage. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father,

Please bless mattie with the ability to see this situation as You see it. I stand on Matthew 10, "That which is covered shall soon be uncovered," asking for revelation of the truth about this matter. Give mattie the strength to follow smb1976's wise advice. Protect mattie from the slings and arrows of those who would speak about her with malice. Bring any gossipers in her life to a place of extreme remorse and deliver them from that evil. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Mattie, there wil be times that people talk about you , some good some bad, Please don't let it harden your heart, I know what I am talking about, people have talked about me for a long long time and it never gets easier to hear that a friend talks about you, the one thing you have to remember is they talked about Jesus first.

If He could take it and He did then you and I can take it

love ya Shanni
besides they are only words, words never hurt anyone.
