Pray for the salvation of my husband.

A prayer warrior yesterday had a word that my husband's salvation is what God most wants me to pray for related to the restoration of our marriage.

Please pray that his heart will be softened and that he will allow himself to hear words affirming the gift of salvation. My husband was raised in a communist country and indoctrinated with that "religion" in his schooling. It is hard for him to overcome the brain washing he was given.

Then when the communist left, his family returned to Eastern Orthodoxy. (Which is a wonderful religion and I am not ever going to speak against it.) But how it was practiced at first dissoltioned my husband because he saw "idol" worship and there were some bad church leaders who had people pay for "relics" that if they bought them,they could have their sins forgiven. This really upset my husband so that he turned away from the faith as "hypocritical".

My husband knows the bible very well. But he has never completely understood it. When I gave him an NIV version (paperback) of the New Testiment that he could use to help his english, he could not stop reading it and was up all night reading it. The next day he was through Roman's and said to me that "That is NOT the bible". First, it was in paperback, which 'is not allowed". Next, it was "understandable" and that is not how the bible is. He says that only the priests understand the bible and they explain to everyone else what it says. (I know this is not true of all Eastern Orthodox, but that was his experience.)

He did accept that it was the bible. After we married he has attended church with me almost weekly and even went to a marriage enrichment class with me. My husband has (until just recently) followed the ethical code of behavior taught in the bible (and by his parents who were Eastern Orthodox before the communist took over.) He liked church. He really really liked the minister. It seemed that he was praying in church too. He even read some Christian fiction that I had.

So, I think that he was getting close to taking the leap of faith when he did this run away and hiding act. Perhaps this whole thing is an attack from s. to prevent his salvation, not just an attack on our marriage.

Please pray that my husband's mind will be open. He is especaially open to influence by older men. I have been praying for an older man to come to my husband and remind him of his moral obligation to his marriage, but now I am praying that my husband will be open to the teaching of the Gospel.

Father, ThornyGrace's husband needs Jesus and he needs to be "good save"! Holy Spirit, work in this man's life to bring him to repentance and salvation in the Name of Jesus! Bring him home. AMEN!

I keep hoping that this time of trial will yeild forth salvation for my husband. It will be worth everything I have gone through for that!
