not a prayer, but a question about tithes

My family has extremely limited income. If we do not tithe, we have barely enough to pay basic necessities. If we do, we end up having to borrow or ask for handouts from the community. Should we tithe & end up begging or borrowing, or not tithe & support ourselves?

Ask God for "seed" to plant into His church.(Seed is money).
When He gives you the seed to plant, be sure to give it and then your harvest will be blessed.
When I first started tithing, I would worry about bills too. I asked God to give me a little extra money to put in church. When He did, I started putting that in and then my seed began to grow. My income increased and I could pay my tithes and also offerings. After a while, it got easier.
He continues to bless me with everything I need.
You just have to take that chance and believe God will keep His Word and take care of you.
Ask Him for money to give back to Him and see what happens!
Just hang in there!
God bless-at least you were concerned enough to ask.

Understand what you're saying. Our family has been there. Yes, we should pay our tithes. Found most folks live on what they make. If you are interested in ways to cut expenses, email me and I'll send you hundreds of ideas.

"As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3"I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."" (Luke 21:1-4)

Jesus also said:

"Give, and it will be given to you." (Luke 6:38)

Be faithful. Remember Satan will try to convince you not to follow God in even the smallest way. Trust me I know how hard it is living check to check. Been there. I started tithing regularly about a year ago. It was hard. But I seperated the money out right away and did not total it into the TOTAL. First it started woth little blessings, like my auto insurance for some reason was $24 instead of $99! A bible my husband needed was $25 instead of $80. These blessings happen to us now right on time. Somehow God keeps making away and now I am even able to give offerings and donations, it feels so good in my soul, so please be faithful.

I am praying for you and your finances.

That's an awesome testimony, Stephanie-it really works!

This may seem trivial and little, but here is a strange little thing God did for me-He's even interested in small things.

Our dishwasher quit working and no one here barely has time to do dishes so they would pile up, which got on my nerves.

Last year I bought a dishwasher at a yard sale for $3.00 and let it sit outside in the weather for a year because I figured for that price it wouldn't work.

Hooked it up tonight- it works!!!

Now the dishes are washed. Praise God! That's what I did-I knew it was God and thanked Him.

We are much happier seeing how He supplies our needs than if we had a million dollars or ten new dishwashers!

GOD IS AWESOME!

R,
Just wanted to further encourage you. It really is worth it.
Malachi 3 says we can test the Lord in this. How often does God tell us we can test Him?
I remind myself that that 10% isn't mine. It is God's. I take it right off the top and when I don't have money to make ends meet, which is rare now..(not always the case pre-tithe days), It is usally because I spent frivilously. Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit so some weeks I need to pray for more fruit!
Trust Him and test Him. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Also remember your tithe helps your church provide all of the activites it does and helps your pastors feed their families. Sometimes I need to take the common sense approach..
Hope this helps!

I put the Lord to the test some years ago. Feeling led to tithe, but feeling hard pressed financially at the time because of some back taxes owed, I simply started to move in the direction of tithing. Very shortly an unexpected breakthrough came financially! It is a long story, but I was able to pay off the taxes pretty quickly.

Last year I realized I wasn't always giving the Lord the "first fruits" of my offering. That is, the money would kind of lie around waiting to be given. I made up my mind to have the tithe in as soon as the money was in. Almost right away I found out I had inherited a modest sum of money from an aunt who passed away!

Who knows how many blessings come because of tithing, for example, better health, better family relationships, not to mention more prayer power. "The prayers of a righteous man availeth much."

It is righteous to tithe.
