Great pic. Even though I was young (2) when he was elected - I remember him very well. On his 2nd election - I kept telling my mother that he was going to win big (according to her). I do remember sitting inches from the Tv glued to the screen during the election coverage.

Posted by: FriendOfGod Oh dear gracious God, please console the family of President Ronald Reagan. Fill all of his associates with peace and give them strength. Accept Ronald Reagan in your loving arms. I ask this in Jesus name I pray, Amen. Posted by: Cara I am so pleased to be able to leave this for the Reagan family. Firstly I am so sorry for your loss and even if a familly member is elderly we still feel those awful pangs of lonliness. Ronald Reagan had such an impact that changed history as we knew it. We viewed pictures of him nearly losing his life to an assasin, we saw the wall come down that ended the cold war. We saw him as a husband and mostly as a human being with a humbleness, and a wonderful sense of humor. I used to love seeing his news conferences and interviews because of that whit. We also saw a man that shared his most profound illness with us all. Sadly we lost connections with him but more tragically his family did. This view of him is from a Canadians eyes, what ever side of the border we were on we loved and respected him. Mrs. Reagan, if I can say, that you gave woman an example of how to care for their mate with love, in sickness and in health. You gave your husband the dignity that befitted him during his illness. Mostly thank you for sharing your husband with the world. You will be in my prayers. Carol and Stewart Eggie Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Posted by: JC's girl Ronald Reagan did so many wonderful things for our nation during his presidency. We will be forever grateful for the legacy he leaves behind. I heard on the radio this morning that Billy Graham considered Ronald Reagan a close friend. Graham stated that Mr. Reagan had a faith deeper than most people knew about. It is evident in his speeches that God had a significant place in Mr. Reagan's life. May the God of peace bring comfort to Nancy and her family; comfort them in their sorrow; strengthen them on this journey; and bring joy on the morrow. In Jesus' name, AMEN. May God bless and keep you all safe and sound. Thank you for showing us how great this country can be. Thanks for this circulation as well as the photos. Posted by: imall4god I can remember back to the 1st and last time I ever voted for who I knew was a great man. I was 18 when President Reagan was running for his 2nd term. I was more then proud to be able to vote for him. I was so proud of how well he did in office in his 1st term not only that I was impressed. He made such a big impact in my heart and mind on how well he did. Him and his loving and carring wife Nancey with the campain of not doing drugs helped me to turn my life around. I wrote many poems on why not to do drugs because of them. I truley believe that if it wasn't for him and his greatChristian ways this country would have been alot worse now then it is. I to morn for him and wish I would have had the honor of meeting him and his family. Just knowing him in my heart and the way he ran this country was all I have got. Of memories to cherish of him. Nancey, my heart cries out for you and your children. I know these are just words and they may not even begin to ease your pain but I just thought you'd like to know that you loving husband was more then just an actor or President to me and my life he was hope to a young girl of 16 who loved the fact that someone other then her own family cared how her life would turn out to be. So I want to say thank you Mr President for all that you did for the youth in this country and for being the man you were. May you rest in peace with our saviour Jesus and our Father in Heaven for all ways God Bless. Cyndi M. Crawford all4him**mo-net.com Posted by: JG

Entertainer Merv Griffin, an old family friend, stands behind Ron Reagan. NBC, MSNBC and news services Updated: 11:28 p.m.ET June07, 2004 SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Ronald Reagans flag-covered casket arrived at his presidential library Monday, the first stop on a final journey that will include a state funeral in the nations capital and then a return to the library for burial on a hilltop. A military band saluted the arriving entourage with “Hail to the Chief” and “America” as eight armed forces members carried the casket into the library, past a 10-foot-tall sculpture titled “After the Ride” depicting Reagan as a smiling cowboy with a Stetson in his hand. Nancy Reagan, 82, the former presidents widow, was escorted to her seat. At the close of a brief family ceremony, she touched her cheek to the casket, began to cry and was embraced tightly by her daughter, Patti Davis. Reagans fellow Californians were later allowed into the rotunda to pay their respects to the man who was their governor from 1967 to 1975. Among the first were Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver. Public viewing of the casket is to run until Tuesday evening. Dozens of buses were on hand at a nearby college to shuttle mourners, who are expected to number about 2,000 an hour for the 30 hours the casket will lie in repose at the library. Between noon and 7:15 p.m., 12,100 people passed by the casket, said Melissa Giller, chief of staff for the library foundation. Flags, flowers and jelly beans Clusters of onlookers gathered on overpasses to follow the progress of the 40-mile motorcade route on its journey from a funeral home to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, northwest of Los Angeles. The freeways were cleared of traffic ahead of the motorcade. On one overpass, a huge U.S. flag hung between the ladders of two fire trucks. At the funeral home, Nancy Reagan accompanied by Davis; her son, Ron Reagan; and Michael Reagan, the late presidents adopted son viewed impromptu remembrances that had been placed outside. U.S. flags, flowers and jars of jelly beans, Ronald Reagans favorite treat, were left along with notes, stuffed animals and candles in the spontaneous shrine. Thank you for changing the world, one handwritten note said, and the words Thank you, Ronald Reagan were drawn across a map of the United States. Dozens of mourners gathered to pay their respects from a distance. I thought this would be a wonderful experience for my daughter, said Wendy Mattina, who visited the library with her 9-year-old daughter. Let them find pleasure in each other's presence, and let the grandchildren inherit the good qualities You have placed in their parents and grandparents. Thank You for hearing this prayer, in Jesus' Name. Amen. Posted by: gracepoint A small remembrance: I am a baby boomer. The Reagan administration came along just when we needed it, after the 60's and 70's. God does provide. I can not add to the testimonials which I've heard via various forms of media. More importantly, I have a 20 year old son, who in reading about and discussing govt. and politics over the years, recognized some time ago what an awesome man of God Mr. Reagan was and the legacy of righteousness he has left behind. My son has been able to draw from that legacy and hopes for a brighter tomorrow, because God has proven if we trust Him, He can do what seems impossible, just when we need it most. His timing IS perfect. I hope and pray this future generation as a whole will learn about and draw from the expanse of history within the Reagan admin. and his family values as well. This generation coming into harvest wants and needs simple truth, depth, hope, which the Reagan's afforded us. I hope and pray the present total leadership of our country will be deeply touched through this event and remembrance, and deeply evaluate themselves in order to lead us righteously and courageously into the future, as President Reagan ince did. Future generations need it, and hope for it.[/FONT] Posted by: JeriRose12 I received this email: >From the Desk of : D. James Kennedy, Ph.D. 6/9/2004 Jerena, Ronald Wilson Reagan wielded the broom that swept the Soviet Union--that most evil empire in history--into the ash heap of history. And he did it without firing a shot. The collapse of Soviet rule and the breakup of an empire responsible for the death of more than 100 million people took place because of his courage and vision. The news this week of President Ronald Reagan's passing has given me the opportunity to reflect on an encounter I had with this great man during the 1980 presidential campaign. It was early in 1980, and I joined a handful of other Christian ministers who were invited to come and speak with the then ex-governor and ask him questions. This was a private meeting--not a public forum. Many questions were asked. When my turn came, I said, "Governor, I would like to ask you a very important spiritual question." I asked Governor Reagan: "If you were to die and stand before God and He were to say to you, 'Why should I let you into My Heaven?' what would you say?" It was as if I had punched him in the solar plexis! Reagan doubled over, put his head down between his knees and stayed there for about 45 seconds. Now, that is quite a long time, especially since up until that point we had been involved in a rather lively question and answer session. Slowly, Reagan sat back up straight and said, in somber tones, words which I shall never forget: I don't deserve to go to Heaven. The only thing that I could say would be, "For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." My friend, Ronald Reagan was a great man. A man of incredible vision for America as a "shining city on a hill." A man who turned the course of our nation. A man who stared down the "evil empire" and is rightfully credited for winning the Cold War. A man who stood by the unborn and upheld religious freedom. Most important of all, Ronald Reagan was a man who had a personal and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. As Michael Reagan said shortly after his father's passing: I am secure in the knowledge that he is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in heaven. The greatest gift my father ever gave me was the simple knowledge that I would see him in heaven one day. Historian David Barton has noted that in years gone by, as public leaders neared their time of death, even the press watched closely with great interest to see how that leader faced death. Were there any parting words? In essence, the world watched to see if those who professed their faith in life would profess their faith in death. Reports from the Reagan family of President Reagan's final moments reveal a man who died in his faith. Although disease had sapped his ability to speak, and he had not opened his eyes for several days, President Reagan offered to his wife, Nancy, what she would call "the greatest gift he could have given me." According to daughter Patti Davis: At that last moment when his breathing told us this was it, he opened his eyes and looked straight at my mother. Eyes that had not opened for days did, and they weren't chalky or vague. They were clear and blue and full of life. If a death can be lovely, his was. Michael Reagan said, "His last earthly look was at his wife; his next look was at the face of God." Jerena, I trust you will take time out in the next few days to honor the memory of this great man of faith who literally changed the course of our nation and the world. As you do, recount to your friends and family this bedrock of faith in Jesus Christ, which served as a compass for Ronald Wilson Reagan. If you would like the same assurance of faith that Ronald Reagan had, please visit this web site: http://www.reclaimamerica*****/PAGES...spel/EEpg1.html May God bless the Reagan family. And may God bless America. D. James Kennedy, Ph.D., Founder CENTER FOR RECLAIMING AMERICA Posted by: JeriRose12 Dear Lord, may many come home to Jesus, because they realize what truly made him great was his faith in You!!! I thank You for the love of God that shone out of Him and showed in His small acts of kindness to all. Please, as this nation stops to refelct on him, may they realize that they, too, can make a difference in the world if they will turn to You and put all faith and trust in You. I thank You that You are bringing hope and good out of this time of grieving around the world. As the world applaudes him and his impact in history, may the truth of his REAL legacy be revealed: That he believed in Jesus Christ with all his heart, soul, mind and strength, and that he knew when he died that that was not the end, because he knew he would step into eternity with You. Thank You, Lord, for the gift he was to the world, and I pray that his family is comforted. May they look to Jesus their Blessed Hope. May they remember Christ in them is the hope of Glory -- meaning they will see him again on the other side! Put Your arms around Nancy and strengthen and help her in a special way. Strengthen the children and all other family members as well. I pray in Jesus Name, Father, amen. Jerena L. Merk, Mount Vernon, Washington Posted by: jasna Lord I prayer for Ronald Reagan's family and close friends. That every person that knew him would be at peace and know that he is sitting at the right hand side of Our Lord. That they will reflect on the good times as well as the bad. That joy will be in their lives and happiness. For them not to be sad but rejoice in his life. Thank you Lord for such a good man may the memories of him carry on. Bless Nancy and comfort her in those bleak times. In our Lord Jesus Amen. Posted by: youngijp I don't know how much enhancing of President Reagan's record there was throughout last week, but it was indeed awesome to hear of his many, many true acts of kindness and good will, as well as about his prayer life, with spontaneously his praying for John Hinckley after the shooting. I was so moved and grateful for all the memorial ceremonies being such Christian services, particularly inspired by the wonderful hymns -- "Amazing Grace" used several times and others I recognized being played included the music to "Softly and Tenderly"; "Just As I Am"; "Rock of Ages"; "Abide with Me"; "I Need Thee Every Hour"; "Holy, Holy, Holy"; "O God, Our Help in Ages Past"; and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" -- and Michael wonderfully reiterating what he had previously written, "And so now the peace I feel is knowing that my father has gone home to be with his God and his Lord, and that is the greatest gift that he ever gave me." Too, what a sense of history and Christian roots with the connected reminder of John Winthrop's 1630 "City upon a Hill" sermon! I pray the events of the week and following days will be instrumental in leading people to faith in God through Jesus. Maybe people, including Moslems, will wonder and seek the truth. As I observed in the cathedral the throng of prominent people and instinctively recalled negative things we have heard about some -- serving as a reminder of how flawed we all are, I was again amazed at the comradery that happens periodically on such occasions. What a story that must be for those from other countries in attendance and broadcast to the rest of the world! And what a CA sunset the Lord displayed Friday! "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
