Pastor Jerry,
I hope you understand that I am serious when I ask these questions.
I have seen the pictures you posted from your church and most of it looked very exciting..encouraging infact to see revival in action..BUT I don't understand what appeared to be "slain in the spirit" and the "laughing spirit" picture.
Also were the 5 children who were covered in sheets, is that what happened to them? What was the congregation praying over them for???
I go to an A of G church and I have seen the "thickness of the HS" permeate our sanctuary. I've also seen tongues and interpretation...I have heard of these other things but don't really understand them.
Also, sorry..I have heard some of our critical brothers and sisters say when we exibit these things we aren't really being Christian; we are being used by the enemy and partipating in pagan rituals. I don't agree with that...I believe the Holy Spirit really does move among us, I just don't understand in what ways except those I have just mentioned I have seen.
Any explainations you can give would be great!
Thanks.
~Tammie

i know I'm not Jerry but here are supporting scriptures on being slain in the spirit...

Genesis 15:12 "...A DEEP SLEEP FELL upon Abram... And God said to Abram..."
Genesis 17:1, 3 "The Lord appeared to Abraham... and Abraham FELL ON HIS FACE, and God talked with him..."

2 Chronicles 5:13, 14 "... then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; so that the priests COULD NOT STAND to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God."

Daniel 8:17 "And it came about when I, Daniel, had seen the vision... I heard the voice... So he came near... I was frightened and FELL ON MY FACE... Now while he was talking with me, I sank into a deep sleep with MY FACE TO THE GROUND..."

Daniel 10:8, 9 "So I was left ALONE and saw this great vision; yet no strength was left in me, for my natural color turned to a deathly pallor, and I retained no strength. But I heard the sound of his words; and... I fell into a deep sleep ON MY FACE, with MY FACE TO THE GROUND."

Ezekiel 1:28 "...the likeness of the glory of the Lord. When I saw it, I FELL FACEDOWN, and I heard the voice of one speaking."

Ezekiel 3:22, 23 "The hand of the Lord was upon me there, and he said to me, '...I will speak to you.' ...And the glory of the Lord was standing there..., and I FELL FACEDOWN."

Ezekiel 43:1-7, esp. 3 "...behold, the glory of the God of Israel... His voice... and the earth shone with his glory... like the vision which I saw by the river Chebar; and I FELL ON MY FACE..."

Ezekiel 44:4, 5 "...behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord, and I FELL ON MY FACE. And the Lord said to me..."

Revelation 1:17 "When I saw him, I FELL AT HIS FEET AS THOUGH DEAD.... [Note: This is probably the source of the phrase 'slain in the spirit.']

Please go here

http://www.annointed.net/pn_vb.php?...8677#post108677

and read all the verses very carefully.

Pray about each verse then tell me what you think.

BTW what laughing pic are you talking about

I will read each of those scriptures when I get home.
The picture was posted the day that I wrote you this post and it came from a church revival meeting that had 5 kids who were on the floor being prayed over by a gropu of adults. A picture in that group was captioned , "laughing in the Spirit".
My husband did tell me he grew up in a Pentecostal church were this happened frequently. I just have never heard of it and was hoping for some insight.
I will look at those references and I will pray.
Also I want to thank you for this site!
I am learning and growing each day.

Hi Tammy:

Is this the picture you were talking about?

This is from Dougout52's Gallery, it is probably 2-3 months ago. I do not remember why we were praying for the children at that time, I will ask some of those I see in the picture.

PS: I did ask Jim to get a good picture of the God Squad, I think it may have gotten forgotten! I will mention it again.

I love the "God squad"..It just sounds like an amazing way to motivate people to serve!
Yes, it was that group of people, but they showed a young couple, maybe a married couple, who were laughing on the floor and it said, "laughing in the Spirit".
I wasn't sure what that was all about.
I still have to study and pray about Pastor Jerry's scriptural references, but I am learning.
It just seems all of us believers have so many different emphasis and traditions...I'd like to know more so I can relate to others, but also I have a burden to see all of us argue less because of it.
You're either a slave to sin or a slave to righteousness..Wars are best fought when there are only 2 sides...Otherwise it gets very confusing, if you know what I mean. It's hard to figure out who the enemy is...
Anyway, bless all three of you for taking the time to respond to me!
love,
~Tammie

1 Corinthians 2
14The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

We are all made spirit, soul and body
To spiritually discern the things of God you have to be lead by his Holy Spirit confirming it with your spirit not your mind, If we walk in the flesh first then soul second then spirit last we will never grow in Jesus, for we are to yield to the Holy Spirit within are heart first then soul and body, by walking in the spirit first you open yourself up to be taught by God and his ways, if you are still trying to figure it all out in your mind you will never grow, In Proverbs 3:5 it says to Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; so if we are not trusting in the Lord to show us the way and teach us how he wants to teach us then we will be confused, if we are leaning to are own understanding it takes us deeper into confusion and bondage.

You see the Holy Spirit turns on the switch in your spirit when being taught which is why when we are learning we should remove are understanding out of the way in are minds and let the Holy Spirit turn the switch of revelation on in are spirit man.. Put things in this order first spirit soul and body, if you dont have your spirit first your going to be out of whack..If you try to discern what is going on in those pictures with your mind and in your own understanding you will never figure it out, but instead open your spiritual eyes by letting the Holy Spirit show you what is going on in your spirit, for it is in your spirit where you grow not how much you attain in your mind in knowledge or understanding..your spirit will never forget for the Holy Spirit will always bring into rememberence to your spirit what he has taught you..

Below is a little teaching not by me about spiritual eyes:

IN THE BEGINNING

In the Garden of Eden before the fall, Adam and the woman communed with God. They did not speak with vocal words, they "understood," they were in total harmony with God. They had spiritual eyes. That is a fact! How do we know that? Well, let us look at Genesis 3 before the fall:

*And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, THEN YOUR EYES SHALL BE OPENED, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman SAW that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the EYES, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (Gen 3:4-6)

We note that the serpent said to the woman "then your eyes shall be opened." Do we conclude then that she was presently blind? No, because we read that she "saw that the tree was good for food" and "that it was pleasant to the eyes." She was obviously "seeing" with some type of vision. Let us go on to after the fall:

*And the EYES of them both WERE OPENED, and they knew.... (Gen 3:7)

Yes they were "seeing" before the fall, but their "eyes... were opened" after the fall. What does that mean? Well, they had spiritual eyes through v.6 and communed with God. In v.7 they fell from His Holy Presence, from the Most Holy Place, from communing with God, from seeing with spiritual eyes. They were thereafter separated from God. Sin separates from God. Sin stood between God and them. Sin is a barrier between God and man. Sin is opaque. There is no light in sin. As a consequence, their spiritual eyes were cut-off, closed, darkened, and their natural eyes "were opened." Now they could only communicate with God.

Both ate of the tree. The woman did not believe God. Adam disobeyed God. "And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (I Tim 2:14). The woman was in the first transgression. Adam chose to disobey God.

*And unto Adam he said, BECAUSE THOU HAST HARKENED UNTO the voice of thy wife, AND hast eaten of the tree.... (Gen 3:17)

"Harkened unto" means that Adam chose to heed, submit to, bow the knee to the voice of his wife over the voice of God, for he was not deceived. Adam disobeyed God. The woman chose to heed, submit to, bow the knee to the voice of the serpent over the voice of God, for she was deceived. The woman did not believe God.

THEIR EYES WERE DARKENED

The following Scriptures reach back to the woman and Adam, and forward to those "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (II Cor 4:4).

*Let their eyes be DARKENED that they may not see, and bow down their back alway. (Rom 11:10)

*Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became VAIN in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was DARKENED. (Rom 1:21)

*Having the understanding DARKENED, being ALIENATED from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the BLINDNESS of their heart. (Eph 4:18)

THE LIGHT

When we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, the inner candlestick, the Holy Spirit is lit with a glowing ember from the brasen altar of sacrifice. "For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness." (Psalm 18:28). We were once completely darkened, the candlestick in our holy place without oil. But now we are being continuously transformed from that darkened condition toward full enlightenment, from darkened through darkly into God's Presence. "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." (Phil 1:6). From darkened through darkly, because of the ever present sin in our lives. Unforgiven sin makes opaque. Unforgiveness makes opaque. Present sin (I John 1:8) obfuscates.

*For now we see through a glass, DARKLY; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (I Cor 13:12)

Adam and the woman fell from what we are attaining to. They had spiritual eyes, and fell to natural eyes. Their spiritual eyes were closed, darkened. It is into this fallen state that we are born. We are born fallen with natural eyes and our spiritual eyes are closed, darkened. When we are born again our spiritual sight is fully restored positionally by the grace of God, but only just barely opened experientially. We are newborn spiritual babies. Everything spiritual is blurred, fuzzy, and out of focus. As we are fed the Word and grow in the Lord we learn to center our focus on Him. Full positional spiritual sight is an immediate reality, whereas, full experiential spiritual sight is a becoming reality.

FOCUS

*The LIGHT of the BODY is the eye: if therefore thine eye be SINGLE, thy whole BODY shall be FULL OF LIGHT. (Matt 6:22)

The Word of God is the body of Christ Jesus (John 1:14; Rev 19:13), literally. The word "single" is translated by the Holy Spirit in only one instance: Matthew 6:22 and the comparable passage in Luke 11:34. It was spoken by Jesus Christ and it means focused. If your eye is totally focused on Jesus Christ, who is the "light of the world" (John 8:12) then everything that enters into you will be Him. And you will be full of Him. Glory. When you are full of Him, you are like Him. Peter was full of Him:

*And he [Jesus] said, COME. And when PETER was come down out of the ship, HE WALKED ON THE WATER, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. (Matt 14:29,30)

Great prayer! Peter was full of Him when he walked on the water. Peter did and became Matthew 6:22. Peter was full of Him, temporarily, just as the disciples were in Acts 2. When Peter was full of Him, he was Like Him and walked on the water. Peter could have remained full of Him if he had not allowed the thorns of this world (Mark 4:18,19) to distract his focus. They pricked him! As he looked to the pricks he lost focus on Jesus Christ and became a double-minded man (James 1:6-8). However, when our present trials and tribulations are completed, we shall be forever Like Him:

*For I reckon that the sufferings of this PRESENT TIME are NOT WORTHY to be compared with the GLORY which SHALL BE REVEALED IN US. (Rom 8:18)

Now all you have to do is this open up your spiritual eyes in your heart instead of your mind.. In other words the Holy Spirit will open up your spiritual eyes to see him in all his glory if you yield to him and his ways...
