why does God send people to hell?

Does he do it cause he wants to take revenge for them not believing in him? Do you think he enjoys sending somebody to hell? I cannot imagine that but at the same time he does it, so why? Does he do it cause he is just and has no other choice?

Psalm 14
2 The LORD looks down from heaven
on the sons of men
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.

Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are noble, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise think on these things
Philippians 4:8

Frederik,

God made Heaven first, and in making it He made it so that sin may not enter. When man first sined he made himself unable to go into heaven, so it is not God who is sending people to hell it is people themselves. God in His awesome love though made a way for man to get into heaven, which was sacrifice. The penalty of sin is death in the physical and separation from God in the spiritual. By offering the ultimate sacrifice of death of a sinless man ( Christ) God allowed that one voluntary death to make up for all the sins which everyone else would commit, but everyone has to accept that gift to be covered from their sins. If we accept that gift we are covered and when we die we may enter heaven because we are no longer sinful, but those who reject that gift are sinful and therefore send themselves to hell. Hell was never designed for man, it was designed for Satan and those angels which rebelled and followed him against God. It was man's own fault that we sinned and ended up headed for a place we were never supposed to go. So actually God does not send anyone to hell, but has done everything within His power to keep us out of hell, but being just and good He cannot break His own rules of not letting sin into heaven.

You said God made heaven first, but God is omniscient. I mean he knew what would happen. He also knew about hell.

Dear FREDERIK,
when questions as these are asked by spirit filled believers it leave room for atheist agnostics and BIBLE shredding Theologians to querry the omnipotence of God and or contest the verity of the Christian faith as not being mere surposition/superstition.

THE BIBLE does not carry answers to life's every questions and man's every inquisition. If this were so, the Bible would be the the best reference book upheld by the Edisons, Bill gates, Carnegies, Einstein and sigmund Frued of this world.

God does not owe us any tenable or otherwise exegesis/treatises/Exposes for HIS ANY ACTION within the sphere of creation. Some question in man's heart, like who gave birth to God or what is the technical process-in details of how the dead do come back to life,in this life or in the after life will be added to some up to nothing but trivias in God's daily calculations for creation.

THE BIBLE adequately answers every questions pertaining to our salvation, the adequacy of grace and the efficacy of faith to inherit God's promises.Truely, these place us, no matter how seemingly irrational, above Sciece and the Dogmatic Theologies of this time

Let us in the Church of today learn to be silent where the Bible is silent. That the BIBLE is silent in respect to questions in our heart does not mean that GOD IS NOT ADEQUATELY shielding our such "blind spot" areas in life.(aLSO, NOTE THAT JUST as some scientific experiments find answers only outside earth's atmospheric conditions some of questions will only find answers only after outside physical life experiece.

The BIBLE HAS NO DIRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.Avoid and ignor any theological attempt thru intra Church entertaining gymnstics of speech, acrobatics of grammr, calisthenics of words or pyrothechnics of charisma TO CONFUSE rather than convince you.

The only convincing you can get as answer to your qestion is to leap over THAT QUESTION IN YOUR HEART with the Pole of FAITH.

I disagree with JEDIJEB, not Theological, but Faithwise, that God had done all within His Power.... If anything this is a declaration by subtlety that subintimates a low level appreciation of the Omnipotence of God's, by a Rationalist trying to have a firm hold on the intutive-a major prerequisite for the Faith life.
Should we not decline from the mind conflicting debate of whether man is utterly septic/irresponsible and deserving savage death in Hell or whether God contains some element of viciousness in Him as to be able to endure the unending sight of people in Hell will lead to us spilling the conterminated blood of intra Church contraction-since we will be seen by the outside would as talking with our TONGUES IN-BETWEEN OUR TEETH

Your servant in Christ

Thanks for trying to answer my question.
But how can God be vicious? Satan is vicious. I don't think that God can be vicious.

I have wondered about this for many years. God has answered so many of my questions since I was filled with the Spirit.

I had a dream once, and God answered all of my questions - the hardest ones. When I woke up, I couldn't remember one question, or one answer, but I do remember that each of the answers were right. God has allowed me to know, ahead of time, that we will be comforted because He has done the right things.

Yes, I also believe that. God makes no mistakes.

Am sorry the bible DOES hold the key to every question and way of life

Lest we forget what is said in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

That truth alone is all you need to know to all the answers to life and the way of this life on this earth and eternally.. The pathway is narrow and those who find the narrow path find life forever in Jesus, there's no gray in the middle Jesus is who he says he is or he isnt, AND HE IS WHO HE SAYS HE IS THE GOD ALMIGHTY, THE ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE BEGINNING AND THE END, THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE... Without Jesus in your heart you have NO life in you period but rather a your own self made thinking and opinions and no truth in them, for Jesus alone is truth..

The reason people do not follow the word of God is because the flesh of man will not be able to discern what God is saying for one has to be born-again in Jesus to be able to clearly see the truths that are in the word of God then yield to the Holy Spirit and let him teach you and lean not to your own ways..

1 Corinthians 2
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

To discern the things of God we MUST abide in Jesus and remain in him period not ever in are own thinking or ways the very second we try to say something out of are mind or what we think its already considered false for it did not come out of yielding to the Holy Spirit to show you the truth..

"I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing."

– Jesus (John 15:5)

Proverbs 3
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
.

Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

To know the answer to this question why does God send people to hell lest we forget lets read Genesis and read with are hearts through guidence with the Holy Spirit what happened when eve and adam sinned... WHO MADE THE CHOICE TO EAT THE APPLE THUS CREATING SIN THROUGH DISOBEDIENCE ADAM AND EVE DID RIGHT? THROUGH DISOBEDIENCE THEY MADE A CHOICE TO DO SO, THUS WE MAKE THE CHOICE TO SIN OR NOT TO THUS WE WILL EITHER CHOOSE JESUS INTO ARE HEARTS TO ATONE FOR THE SINS COMMITED IN ARE LIVES GIVING US ETERNAL LIFE, THEREFORE WE CHOOSE TO ACCEPT LIFE OR DEATH ITS UP TO YOU IF YOUR GOING TO HELL OR NOT PERIOD...

Let us not be blind to the truth in Jesus, man sinned through CHOICE Jesus came to earth to atone for the sins created and bore them all on the cross NOW its up to us if we will accept the gift of salvation into are hearts to be saved from sins curse and grasp, people will either go about ingnoring this truth or recieve it, its that simple either way God wil give everyone this choice to be made and will be held to accountability in conviction from the Holy Spirit if they recieve Jesus or not into there hearts, If they reject the conviction of the Holy Spirit to come to Jesus and accept him they will be held accountable on judgement day, no ways around it God gave all of mankind they way out but man choose to stay in pride and enjoy sin and go there own ways, God is HOLY and is just in his ways NO SIN OR REBELLION IS ALLOWED IN HEAVEN PERIOD, thus is why Jesus came to save us from sins death sentence, so we can come back into relationship with him just like before adam and eve ever sinned WHOOO HOO Awesome preaching ANOINTED WARRIOR!!! Sorry had to say amen to myself Jesus was speaking through me praise God

I believe that sinners make the choice to send themselves to Hell.. Either you live for the Lord with all your heart and soul or you live for the evil one and cast yourself into the pit of fire... It is a choice... We all have a choice... God doesn't want anyone to go to hell he want you to choose Eternal Life with Him.

God created man with a free will so he can express his love for God voluntarily God knows that love must be volitional in order to be true love. Free will cannot be classified as an evil thing, so when God created man He created him in the most loving way possible: perfect, but with free will.

Because man chose to disobey God, the situation changed. We are now not naturally attracted to God's ways, but to ways of rebellion. Because we still possess free will, we have the capability to choose whether we wish to follow God or our own ways. If God were to force us to follow Him, He would not be loving in His actions toward us, and we wouldn't be showing true love to Him.

The other thing we must realize we have received from God is an eternal existence. God wanted us to be with Him forever. He endowed us with spirits that will live forever in some kind of state. In this way we can truly have fellowship with God, for He exists outside of time, and He desires us to relate to Him more intimately than is possible with our limited physical existence.

Once we understand this groundwork, the problem becomes much easier. The Bible says "Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights (James 1:17)." If God is the author all that is good, and someone chooses to live a life separate from Him, they have chosen to separate themselves from the provider of all that is good. In this world that is not always an observable condition, for God has extended a blessing for all based upon His promises and His longsuffering (Matt 5:45). However, when you leave this life behind and you've chosen to separate yourself from God, He will not violate your free will either. The only difference is that you are now going to eternally exist in that chosen state. If you choose to be separate from everything that is good, then what will you have left? What kind of options are open to you if any good thing isn't one of them?

Man chooses to suffer in eternal torment because he chooses to reject God and all His goodness. If you have nothing that is good (no rest, no comfort, no peace) then eternal torment is your only option. God allows us to taste of both in this life so we can make an informed decision about where we wish to spend the next life. It is unfair to ask how God can send people to hell when He's done all He can to stop them from going there! He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die in our place, to suffer instead of us, so we can have a gift of eternal life without having to work for it. He has given us His written word and His church to point the way (although many times imperfectly in regards to the latter.) If God is the author of all good and people have the free will to follow Him or separate from Him, then it must follow that people will suffer if they don't choose to follow God. In this way it is not a "punishment", but the only option left to God who cannot destroy your sovereign will.
