Interesting difference in bible version

Hi, this is not really a question about the bible. Last week my friend and I noticed something quite interesting. Her bible is a Good News English Standard Version and I use a KJV. Ecclesiastes 9:8 in the KJV says Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. This talks about how we must be pure and the anointing.
But the Good News says: Always be happy and cheerful. This is completely different from any other bible version, I've checked. Even the ESV which is supposed to be similar to the Good News, says:
Let your garments be always white. Let not oil be lacking on your head.
We read the whole of Chapter 9 in both bibles and the Good News was completely different. My friend was really worried about this so she got an NIV bible, which is great. The thing now is we live in South Africa and most people have the Good News because it is the cheapest bible by far.
Anyway, what do y'all think?

Hi, Tafi! Yes, that is interesting to know. I know what you mean about the different "versions" of the Bible. I, too, prefer the NKJ version over all the others. But, I do have a comment. I think you and your friend should stick with the bibles you have. Some versions are badly misinterpreted, as you have just show. How much would you be willing to pay in order to know the truth? I am meaning no disrespect, or being mean, in anyway, so please don't take it that way. It's just a question to reflect on think about. I am really glad you posted for others to read, so that the ppl who do have this version, can trade their bibles in! Have a blessed day!

My Husband and I have compared different bibles before and decided to stick with the KJV because (search the web for more info) the other versions are copywritten (someone owns these versions/has the right to alter as they please) and many times key verses are changed or eliminated. In the New KJV I believe the word Lord was removed in 66 places. Things like this worry me because it clearly states in Revelation about changing God's Word.
How much are the Bibles in Africa?

Hey Stephanie. Bible prices in Zimbabwe (where I am from) range from about Z$40000 to Z$1000000 and in South Africa R40 to R5000 which in US$ is about $7 to $800.
The Good News is the cheapest at R40 then the next cheapest is around R100 (US$16).
