Jerry (and any one else),

I have become recently frustrated at the disrepectful, flaming liberal enivronment that is occuring in Seattle. I see this best demonstarted at my workplace (a grocery store)
Everyday I am confronted with buttons, bumper stickers, t-shirts, and people saying things like, "President Bush is a liar.." "He deserves to go to to H***.", "We are planning a march to burn him in effigy."
This makes me so angry I could scream. Even if I didn't support the Bush administration, I do believe we should respect the office of the President of the United States of America. Even if John Kerry gets elected I intend to respect the office he holds, even if I dislike his policies. I won't say or do those things..I will merely exercise my right to vote him out of office when his term is up.
This is the first problem..The second is that I think they are wrong about him. My uncle, who is a retired high ranking Navy official, has told me there is so much that we the American people cannot know right now as an interest of National security..that the reason Preisent Bush testified in private regarding the 9/11 inquiries was so as not to divulge to people monitoring our news potentially dangerous information.
I just don't get this beyond the obvious spritual war that is ever so evident right now.
I was just curious of your impressions as a pastor and, if confronted, what would be a proper Christian response to why I support President Bush.
Thanks.

This has bothered me as well. I believe that we should respect the President whether we like him or not. I do not think people should be saying bad things about him. So far I have not said anything to those who bash him but I'm getting tired of it so I will start getting after those who do. If you don't like the guy then don't vote for him when he runs again. I know that we do have the right to say what we want but I think when it comes to someone in authority it should be different. Actually I've also been thinking about what this says to other countries as well. We vote someone in to a very high authority position and then have bumper stickers that are against him.
I also would like to know what an appropriate response would be.
