Many Christians become frustrated in there prayer life and drift from using this most powerful weapon, and greatest privelage. Remember that one of the enemies most basic strategies against the church is to "wear out the saints." Believe it or not, one of the enemy's main strategies to keep you from praying is to wear you out in prayer by having you pray to much. The devil will try to make you feel guilty because you are not praying at least an hour each day, or even more, when the Lord may have only called you to spend five minutes in prayer each day. Let me expalin.
First, I think it is certainly noble to want to pray for an hour each day, and I will even agree this would be good for every believer. However, if you try to get there too fast you will probably fail, and may even drift from prayer altogether. If you will start with trying to be faithful to pray five minutes each day, you will soon start to love prayer. Then you will find yourself automatically going ten minutes, and then twenty... Soon you will be so addicted to prayer and the presence of the Lord that your whole life will begin to revolve around trying to find time to get away and pray.

If you are watching the clock and cant wait to get it over with, back off! You are trying to do to much, too fast. No one is ever glad when there conversation is over with the one they love. Somehow your conversation has turned into a religious ritual if you can't wait for the time to be up. Return to your first love. Do not give up on prayer, but pray out of love, taking small but steady steps towards maturity in it..

Above all things we must keep in mind that prayer itself is not the goal-but rather a part of seeing His kingdom come and His will being done on the earth. Prayer is a means to draw near to Him. Our goal should be to become so unified with Him that we are always praying according to His will. Then we know our prayers will be answered. This takes maturity, but in all things we should be growing and maturing. If our prayer life is not maturing, then we are almost certainly caught in a dead religious exercise at best. Our goal should be to grow in our relationship with the Lord and our faith in Him, until all of our prayers are answered.

Prayer is our most powerful weapon because prayer can move God. Are your prayers moving Him? If not, find the answer to this ultimate question. Nothing may change your life more.

Thanks for sharing this, Chris. That's one of the reasons I have been seeking God more, praying on here less. I soaked in His Presence for two hours yesterday, and it was AWESOME!!! Whoohoo!!!

People at work can not believe I stay up so late and have so much energy, even got "Employess of the Month." (Actually, I'm tired a lot, just push through it and work hard). But obviously, my lack of sleep sometimes, is not affecting my work, as far as being able to tired to conentrate. Whoohoo! I attribute this to the way He's been refueling me as I take time out to soak in His Presence. That gives me not only spiritual engergy, but also natural energy!

I Find Myself Coming Here And Reading The Posts And Starting To Post But Instead Just Saying To Myself "help Them Lord"...my Prayers Have Run Dry...i Dont Know What Has Happened To Me...i Love The Lord And I Love Everyone Here But My Desire To Post A Prayer Or A Prayer Request Has Been Very Labored...whats Wrong With Me

Alexx, I guess something you have to ask yourself is " Is the Holy Spirit calling me to pray for this request?" If the answer is yes then I imagine it is the devil tearing at you and distracting you from praying. If the answer is no, then it is the Holy Spirit trying to guide you on to something else He wants you to do. I know it isnt easy to answer the question sometimes, but I know that when I am trying to pray and the devil doesnt want me praying, my mind starts drifting off to everything you can imagine, even while I am kneeling and praying I start thinking of work, or tv shows or anything besides what I am praying for. When it is the Holy Spirit leading me to something else I usually find myself loosing interest in what I am trying to pray for and finding something else to pray for, or I get the feeling that what I am doing just isnt right, like maybe God doesnt want that person to have what they are asking for. Tiredness and distraction are some big tools the devil uses against us. But we also have to be sure not to try to do everything for God, but to do exactly as much as He asks us to. Try spending time praying and just asking God what He wants you to do, what He is trying to teach you, where He is guiding you. Take a day or two to just sit and chat with God about Him and you, about what makes you happy and what bothers you. Sometimes we spend so much energy trying to help others that we negelect ourselves and then we get sick, either physically or spiritually or both. Sometime we just need to take a spiritual vacation and unwind so that we can come back even stronger than before. Give it a try and see what happens

I agree with my brethren here. Spending time with the Lord,in prayer and praying is also one very important tool in spiritual warfare. We are to put on the FULL armor of God, and not leave off any of the components of it. They are all there for a reason!
I praise God for the gift of praying in tongues. It is a gift that has blessed me many times over! When I was younger, I heard a sermon and took notes on it, regarding speaking in tongues. I also have notes on a sermon that shows where the following verse:

Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount-up-with-wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Could be said about speaking in tongues as well, I don't know where the notes are atm, but will look for them. How often do we try to do things in our own strength, and wonder why it fails? The key words in the above scripture are: they that wait upon the LORD, and not doing things without His guidance.

What is good about praying in tongues?

First it helps build you up; it is kind of like a spiritual battery charger. That is what is called edification. It gets to be so awesome; it is better than any drug or drunk in the world! I have been so drunk in the Spirit that I could not walk! Yes, it can get that intense!

This is from my Bible, what I wrote in about tongues:

Tongues are for: praying God’s will

Praying unknown things

Praying exclusively to God

Praying divine secrets

For edification, charging up
Rest in the Spirit (Isaiah 28:11-12)

Best way to give thanks (Isaiah 28:11-12)

Most perfect way to pray (I Corinthians 14:14-16)

Help bring the tongue under subjection, control (James 3:8)

I am not saying that ALL have to speak in tongues, but it is a wonderful gift from God. It helps to be even more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and soooo many blessings from the ability to commune with God in this way~
