Smoke and Broke

Tomorrow is my quit date for smoking. It is time for me to give up this worldly habit and remind Satan that he is going to lose, not only in the end, but RIGHT NOW in his battle to bind me. We are also having financial trouble, and that tension may try to trick me into the false sense of contentment from this addiction. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to wash me clean of smoking and clear my life of burdens that may get in the way. I want to live for the Lord, not RJ Reynolds or Phillip Morris nor the banks or debtors.

Thank you so much,
Robert Abernethy

Thank you so much. I'm now 1/2 way into the first day. Feeling urges, but I am staying in my bible all day.

Lord, I pray that Robert will stay strong. Help him get through this. Give him strength and direction.
Amen

LORD HAVE YOUR WAY ALL THE WAY. BLESS YOUR CHILD AND DELIVER YOUR CHILD COMPLETELY FROM THIS BONDAGE. AND WHEN YOUR CHILD LOOKS BACK AT THIS HABIT, REMIND YOUR CHILD THAT HE/SHE IS LOOKING BACK TOWARD EGYPT AND THAT HE/SHE CAN ALSO LOOK FORWARD TO THE PROMISE LAND, KNOWING THAT THE CRAVINGS AND THE PROCESS ARE ONLY TEMPORARY LIKE THE TRIP THROUGH THE SINAI DESERT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE.... BUT LET YOUR CHILD REMEMBER, THAT EACH TIME HE/SHE LOOKS BACK AND GOES BACK TOWARDS EGYPT, HE ADDS ANOTHTER CIRCLE IN THE DESERT.... AND IF HE/SHE WALKS STRAIGHT THROUGH IT WILL BE A MUCH SHORTER PATH TO YOUR REST.

I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU AND BLESSES YOU IN YOUR JOURNEY TO REST AND FREEDOM FROM THIS BONDAGE.... GOD BLESS YOUR CHILD WITH REST. AMEN

Thanks so much to you all. 38 hours so far without a devil stick. Powerful urges still come every few hours, but they are very brief, thanks to all the prayers and the Glory of God.

Thank you, Lord, for saving me and I trust that you'll continue to pull me out of this bondage until I am completely free. And thank you for all the prayers of your children here. May you bless them all, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Keep me in your prayers. I know that the struggle is not over yet, but will be soon.

Lord we ask you for your continued protection and power upon this child of yours who is fighting to live free from this terrible addiction. Lord grant strength and focus and all that you know is needed to win... soak your word and your strength into this child right now Lord. In Jesus we praise you and thank you and may it all be for your Glory Lord.

I pray for total deliverance. Whatever issues are binding him to smoking (like someone used smoking as a way of choking down emotions they didn't want to deal with), I pray they are brought to the fore and dealt with. See, Lord, You and I have been working on my issue that is keeping me from total, complete walking in Your Glory, and I am dealing with why I keep going to this habit, how I am using it to escape my world that I think is boring, mundane and too troubled and so on.... Lord, we simply desire nothing that we are leaning on besides You. I pray for Robert's total freedom. I pray for his total dependence on You. I know that is the issue for both of us: depending on something besides God to get us through when life seems too hard. Lord, show Robert his path to freedom. All demons binding him to smoking, I break their power NOW, in the Name of Jesus. I pray he will not fight this in his mind. Our weapons our MIGHTY to the tearing down of straongholds! They are not carnal (which our mind is). We can't fight in our mind. If we try to think are way out of it (the pep talks and so on), we will never win. We must take up our spiritual weapons of war -- belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes of the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, Sword of the Spirit (Your Word) -- and fully clothed, we must STAND!!! Instead of tyring to do this in the flesh, let him call on You when the cravings hit. Let him rely on and depend on You alone for His freedom, for as someone said, when we put on the armor, we are simply putting on the Lord Jesus Christ. Then, the devil doesn't even see us coming; he sees Jesus!!! And Jesus doesn't smoke....

Thank You for deliverance and freedom! In Jesus Name, amen~

Fantastic! Just hand it over to God! Pray away the urges. Think of all good you'll be able to do with the extra money.

I will pray for you.

5 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS!! I hope you don't mind the constant updates, but I just don't want anyone to give up on trying to quit. I know that my struggle may not be over, but I would never have made it this far without God's help.

If you have an addiction, YOU CAN QUIT. Stay in Faith. Stay in the Word.

Hi, Robert! I'm so happy for you that you have been able to go for over 3 months without a cigarette. Praise God!! If you would, please pray for a good friend of mine. His name is Doug, and he has tried to quit many times, but always goes back to smoking. I am concerned. He does not have any health problems related to smoking (yet, anyway), but I know that it will prolong his life if he stops, and I'm sure that God wants us to live as long as we can to witness to the lost and minister to our church family. Anyway, if you would intercede for Doug, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks, Brother, and have a wonderful and smoke-free Christmas!!!

Heavenly Gracious Father, I pray that you will provide the means for Doug to put away the cigarettes forever. I ask that you will show him, as you have shown me, that the price of ALL bondage has already been paid. Let your Holy Spirit flow through him and become his willpower. Let Doug hand this burden COMPLETELY over to you, Lord. Let your word be his strength through cravings and temptations. In Jesus' name, AMEN.

Huggybob, Make sure that DOUG has a pocket New Testament. When people at work would ask me what I was "using to quit", the patch or the gum, I'd pull out my bible and say "I've got a prescription for a Jesus patch." I did my best to keep witnessing heavily through the urge times, It reminded me how awesome God was working through me. I had a few REALLY strong urges, but they were few and far between. And short prayers knocked out the little urges immediately. Tell him to stay BUSY in the Lord and it will all be easy. Tell him to be HONEST with himself and truthful to GOD and that will fight off the SNEAK-AND-HAVE-JUST-ONE feelings.
