Ken Bigley's family is 'devastated'
The family of a British hostage in Iraq have made a plea for his release as the deadline set by kidnappers approaches.
Ken Bigley regarded the Arab world as his "home from home" and the stress on their mother was unbearably harsh, his brother Philip said.
Militants holding Mr Bigley, from Liverpool, and two Americans say they will kill them on Monday unless all women held in Iraqi jails are freed.
Tony Blair said everything possible was being done to secure his release.
The men were seized by gunmen at a house in Baghdad's Mansour district on Thursday.
Philip Bigley said in a statement on Sunday: "I'm here today to speak on behalf of our mother, Lil, who's 86 and is too distressed and too confused to give this statement. My mum just wants to see her son home safe and sound.
"No matter how old you are, this stress for any mother is unbearably harsh, especially when she has devoted her life to her four sons, who she loves dearly.

"Ken is a loving and caring father of Craig, aged 33, and he is looking forward to becoming a grandfather for the first time in February next year.
"Ken has enjoyed working in the Arab world for the last 10 years in civil engineering and has many Arabic friends and is understanding and appreciative of the Islamic culture.
"He has worked all over the Arab world in Qatar, Oman, Jordan and the UAE, and he sees the Arab world as his home from home.
"His love of the area is what has kept him there for so many years and is the reason he was prepared to help in Baghdad where many others would be worried for their own safety.
"He wanted to help the ordinary Iraqi people and is just doing his job."
Ken's other brother, Paul, offered to swap places with him.

"I would fly to Baghdad now and exchange myself for him, that's how much I love him," the 54-year-old told the Sun newspaper.
"Ken is such a good guy, he is my best mate."
He called on the Iraqi authorities to free the women prisoners.
"I don't give a d**n what crimes they committed, just let them out," he said.
A video released on Saturday and aired on al-Jazeera television carried the ultimatum over the hostages.
"We are monitoring the situation, we are doing everything we can," said Mr Blair after the ultimatum was broadcast.
The Foreign Office has advised against all but essential travel to Iraq, warning Britons risk being kidnapped.
Iraqi interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi said after talks with Tony Blair that his government was "trying our best" to free Mr Bigley.
The kidnapping is believed to be the responsibility of the Tawhid and Jihad (Unification and Holy War) Group, led by al-Qaeda militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
The kidnapped men, who worked for Gulf Supplies and Commercial Services - a Middle East-based general services and construction contractor - lived together in the walled-off two-storey home.
More than 100 foreigners have been abducted by insurgents in Iraq over the past 17 months, in a bid to destabilise the interim government and drive foreign troops from the country.

Father, I ask for Ken Bigley's Salvation and freedom. Holy Spirit, prepare his heart to hear the Word of Salvation and bring someone to him to tell him of Jesus. Comfort his Mother and Brothers and bring them also to Salvation! In the Name of Jesus! AMEN!

Wow! Dear Father, stop this evil plot! I pray the hands of the terrorists are tied! Bring angels to battle the demons controlling these terrorists. May enough people pray, that You will send enough angels. Lead Your people to prayer. I don't get the news, Lord, and barely watch it when I do have channels, so.... Lead the prayer warriors of the world to knowledge of this, so they will pray. Intervene in an obvious way, so You will receive all the glory!
I pray that Ken and his entire family will be saved! Physically, save him, even now putting every possible protection in place, but, most of all spiritually save him! Let each member of his family come to salvation in Jesus Christ. We stand in agreement. Keep him alive long enough (and many years more!) to hear the gospel and respond! Bring someone across his path with the message of salvation. Or use the TV or let him find a Bible. Work this all for Your glory!
