Who punished Job?

There are people which claim that it was not Satan who sent all this stuff to Job but God!
I cannot believe this.
What do you say about this?
I do not know the book of Job so well.

Satan tried to destroy Job but is was God who allowed him (gave him permission) to send all the troubles for Job.Job 2 verse 6 "And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life." The LORD would not allow Satan to take Job's life although he did allow Satan to cause Job sickness (boils on his body), he destroyed Job's possessions and killed his children.....But after Job endured and prayed for his friends, the LORD gave Job twice as much as Satan had destroyed...(Job 42 verse 10)...
Which goes to show that God is in control of the affairs of men.

Thanks Irvin,
but I already knew this.
My question was who brought all these things upon Job?
Did God send the fire from heaven or was it Satan?

Frederik, I would say that Satan brought those things upon Job. It says that God handed Job to Satan to do anything but take his life. God sat back and let Satan do what he wanted within the bounds set. To prove the point to Satan God took Himself out of it, I think because if He had done any of the things Satan would have had reason to complain. By letting Satan have control God proved that not even Satan had the power to turn Job from his faith.
