Armor of Light

(I share this because someone had a word that I was not taking up my armor -- she got the word "shine" along with "coat of honor" -- and was not taking my authority in Christ.... and I just came across this in my eamails. I thought it might minister to someone else, too):
Armor of Light
By Jennifer Archer
Romans 13:12 - The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.(GMR)
Matthew 28:18- And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority is given to me in heaven and in earth.(GMR)
I once saw the most amazing thing. We were driving through the traffic in a city, and came to a busy intersection. The traffic was especially crazy as it was nearing Christmas time, and it seemed the whole world decided to go shopping this particular afternoon. As we drove through the four lane traffic circle the cars in front suddenly stopped, with loud screeching of breaks.
Wondering if there was an accident, we looked further up the road, and there stood a policeman, in the middle of the road. He held a flashlight in his hand, which he shone into the windscreen of the car to stop them, and with the other hand, directed traffic to flow through from the opposite direction.
I had never seen anything like this. Here was a tremendous picture of boldness. Anyone who had the courage to stand in the middle of this traffic was extremely courageous!
What was even more interesting to me though was that he stood there, with total authority and control over the traffic, simply by using his little flashlight, and shining the light in the eyes of the drivers.
This is such a wonderful picture of our spiritual walk, and the authority we have over the works of the enemy.
If you look at today’s first scripture, you will see there that we are told to be clothed in armor of light. Well, what is armor of light? Armory in the old days was used to protect you, and shield you from weapons, like arrows, that could pierce you and wound you or even kill you! The armor protected every part of your body, but especially important organs like your heart! Your armor could save your life in the middle of battle.
The scripture tells us that God is light and in Him is no darkness. So today’s scripture is telling us to be dressed in the armor of God’s presence. You see the more you are filled with Him, the more you will radiate His presence! You will be “clothed” in His light, and this will serve as a protection for you against the works of the enemy.
It will also put you in an offensive position rather than defensive. You see, in battle, when you are on the defensive, you are always trying to ward off the attack from the enemy. You are always trying to protect yourself, and you end up getting stuck in one position and coming under heavy fire.
But when you take the offensive, and begin to move forward and attack the enemy, then you start to gain the victory, and you break free from the position you were stuck in.
And this is where our second scripture for today comes in.
We read there that Jesus has been given ALL authority in heaven and earth. Did you know that Jesus gave this authority to you? We can see this in Luke 10:19 where it says:
Behold, I give to you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the [dynamic] power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.(GMR)
That means you can stand like that policeman, who stood fearlessly and boldly in the face of oncoming traffic. You can stand in the face of attack and pressures and problems in life and using your authority through Jesus, you can shine your little flashlight in the face of the enemy, and bring him to a complete stop!
You no longer have to be simply on the defensive, but confident that you are clothed in the light of the presence of Jesus and armed with His authority you can move forward on the offensive and claim new ground from the enemy!
How do you do this?? Simply by Words and Actions. Begin to speak some words of authority today. Satan, you will bow in Jesus name. You will release my finances. You will take your hands off my health.
Actions. Begin to act as though your answer has come. Begin to act as though you are victorious. Sing some songs of victory and praise to the Lord. Thank Him for the breakthrough He is giving you! Believe that you have received the answer.
Then reach out and ask the Lord for something new! Ask Him for a new gifting, a new provision, a new tongue.
Take some new ground today, and go forth boldly in Jesus name!
