negative confessions

What do you think, do negative confessions have an influence on our reality?
This is what word of faith basically says.
But is this really true? For example when I write a test and I say: "I'm never gonna pass this test." Does this mean that this negative confession has some sort of spiritual power which causes me to really fail the test?
I cannot imagine this.

On the other hand. Let's say I have to write a test but didn't learn for it and the chances of passing it are very slim. Will confessing: "I'll pass this test" increase my chances?
I don't think so.
This is this whole positive thinking stuff which Dr.Schuller teaches and this is very dangerous. This is new age stuff. It basically says that faith alone already changes things and it doesn't even matter what you have faith in.
Faith in Buddha is just as good as faith in God cause it's all about the faith...

Frederik,
It appears who are an avid thinker. The greatest battlefield we have to survive is in our minds. Here are a few scriptures to ponder:
Romans 8:6 - For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Romans 8:7 - Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Philippians 2:5 - Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
1 Timothy 6:5 - Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
Titus 1:15 - Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
James 1:8 - A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

What we speak does have an affect on our lives. we can speak blessing, or curses. We can speak our acceptance, or rejection of Jesus.

A person who coughs, and says "I think I am getting sick," usually gets sick. No coincidence in my mind.

Think of it this way: If we are created in the image of God, and the Lord spoke everything into existence - wouldn't we as His creation - created in HIS image - have power in the things we speak?

Didn't the Lord teach to a great extent the power of the tongue?
32 And whoever says a word against the Son of man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. 33 "Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree bad, and its fruit bad; for the tree is known by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers! how can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 The good man out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. 36 I tell you, on the day of judgment men will render account for every careless word they utter; 37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."

I do not believe this is "new age." Especially since Jesus speaks about it in the Bible. Many of us struggle with the same things...
I hope you have a very blessed and peaceful day in the Lord!
-Bill

Hi Bill!

But I have also said things like "this is never gonna work" very often but this did not mean that it necessarily did not work. You know what I mean?
Just because I say something doesn't mean that it will 100% come true.
When somebody says "I think I'm becoming sick" then he doesn't necessarily have to become sick. I have often said negative, pessimistic things and it did not always happen what I had expected.

Since being worked on by God for the past 7 years, I have really worked at being more positive. My life has been very blessed. I do have my down days, but I usually can pull myself out of them through prayer and positive thinking. I know far too many people who are negative and pessimistic and their days just seem so long and sad, not to mention their faces! I want to scream sometimes,"Hasn't ONE GOOD THING ever happened to you??" Sheesh! I find a penny in the gutter and I have a laundry list of 'Thank You, Jesus' to say! I find a LOT of money on the ground
I do believe we can influence our lives simply by our attitudes. When I'm feeling cruddy inside I say my 'save me' prayer.

Dear God,
Please take this from my mind, heart and mouth. Please give me strength. Please give me patience. Please help me get through this day. Thank You
Amen.

The Word of Faith teaching is right on.

God spoke everything into existence.

Our words form our reality, too!

It all begins with our THOUGHTS. Thoughts form our beliefs, which form our actions, which form our choices, which form our life.

That's why we MUST renew our mind, we MUST guard our thoughts, we must speak words of LIFE, and HOPE and LOVE! This is one of my biggest mountains and I am learning to conquer it. This mountain WILL BE CAST INTO THE SEA if I SPEAK and do not DOUBT. I shall HAVE whatsoEVER I SAY!

Are you telling me that you can create your own reality by your own words?

For example repeating something over and over again will make it happen?

I cannot believe this. I can repeat 100 times that I'm an action movie star but this won't make me become an action movie star.

Think spiritually, not carnally.
