This was posted about Oct 21, 2004. I have ask by my Prayer Network has anyone heard anything about these. Please let me know.

PLEASE TAKE A MINUTE TO PRAY

Request has been posted on www.annointed.net Prayer Board.

Gary is serving in Iraq while his young wife is fighting Cancer in USA.

IT MUST BE TERRIBLY DIFFICULT TO BE IN IRAQ WITH A SICK WIFE AT HOME.

This request came from.

Bobby S. Briggs, MSgt, USAF
823 ESFS/SFOC
Flight Sergeant
BAGHDAD AB, IRAQ

This email came from Gary.

Tough times don't last.. Tough people do !!!

My name is Gary Hogan. Some of you receiving this know me, Some do not. My
wife, Cindy, is 32 years old and has just been diagnosed 3 days ago with stage 4 cervical cancer and her chances for survival are very slim.
She was pregnant with our second child and had miscarried Recently at 3 months, and now we know why.

Please send an e-mail to everyone you know asking for prayer.

We have 5 year old son, Michael.

Please do not be offended by my plead. This is only a request for your help.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and helping with our
request for healing. No words can express the power we have when we each do
a little to come together.

Regards,

Cindy's in-love husband - Gary

Looking for someone who knows

I have not seen any further updates to this either but will use the address provided in the post to see if I can get a written reply to find out an update on this situation. I thank you, Street Preacher for having a compassionate heart and caring for others and realizing that we did not have an update to this situation. Thank you for making myself and others aware of this. I know GOD, Jerry, Jan, Shawn, and myself appreciate it greatly that you care enough about others to see that posts are followed up on. I will let everyone know as soon as I find anything out. I am also going to use my connections and my dad's connections in the military to se if I can find anything more out.

Father,

I come to you in behalf of a situation that was requested for prayer here a few months back. WE do not know the current situation. WE pray that Gary's wife would be restored in her health, restore her flesh and renew her spirit. Help Gary to know your love for him and his wife. If they are not saved- allow there to be people present in their lives that would lead them to you so they may know thru you there can be total restoration, to not only their physical bodies, but their spiritual bodies as well. Guide and protect Gary to seek your wisdom; and keep him safe wherever he may be while on the battlefield.
Be with Cindy in this time while Gary is overseas. Renew her strength so she may take care of herself and their son,Michael. I ask of you Father, that if anyone does have an update to this situation that they would be led to post information. I thank you also Father, for Street Preacher's compassion in this situation and keeping us aware that there has been no update. I ask that you bring blessings upon him for being a loyal and dedicated servant looking out for your children. I ask these things in the name of JESUS CHRIST. AMEN

Do prayers still work when they're made on behalf of the wrong person in the wrong place at the wrong time? I don't know; perhaps it's a question only a theologian can answer. What I do know is that an awful lot of prayer time and energy has been expended in the name of cancer victim "Cindy Hogan," wife of "Gary Hogan," neither of whom, strictly speaking, exist.

Cindy Hogman, on the other hand, does exist, and this chain letter asking for prayers on her behalf was started by her husband, Gary Hogman, in 2001 after she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. They live in Bedford, Texas.

The trouble with chain letters, especially email chain letters, is that much in the same way information gets lost or corrupted when a sentence is whispered from ear to ear in the children's game of Telephone, the contents of a forwarded email are subject to error, random change and falsification as it passes from inbox to inbox to inbox. In the case of Gary Hogman's message, by mid-2002 the couple's family name had been shortened to "Hogan" and their alleged city of residence seemed to be whatever suited the current sender's fancy.

Here are some actual examples from versions of the message forwarded between June 2002 and June 2003:

"This is a prayer request from a young man that works at the First Union bank in Orlando, FL. Everyone please pray for his wife."
"This is a prayer request from a guy that works at First Union in Walton County, GA"
"This is a request for prayer from a family at Riverpointe Church in Sugar Land, TX."
"My name is Gary Hogan, member of Christ the King parish in Topeka"
"This plea for prayer comes from a young man at the North Point Community Church of Atlanta, GA."
"My name is Gary Hogan, some of you receiving know me, some do not. I live in Eden, North Carolina and I attend the Osborne Baptist Church."
Of the 30 copies of the message I have on file, only one, the earliest, has the family's surname right; none give their correct location. No fewer than 10 different cities and towns are named, the most recent (as of June 2003) being Macon, Georgia.

And what of the real-life cancer victim, Cindy Hogman of Bedford, Texas? According to the most recent information I could find (an update from Gary Hogman posted on a prayer request Website), as of January 2002 Cindy had undergone radiation and chemotherapy treatments and her cancer was in remission.

Which doesn't, of course, mean she couldn't still benefit from your prayers; you just might want to make sure, in case it matters, that you're praying on behalf of the right person.

You guys asked for an update I just thought I would let you know

Sorry for not posting this sooner.

Jerry, I have posted this information many times.

No one ever reads the information.

I no longer bother, I just delete the threads.

I guess I am to blame as one of the people who had posted this request up here, something I received in my emails. I don't know if there was more than one thread on this, as I can't remember when I posted it. Thanks for the info. I won't post any more email requests unless they are from people I personally know.
