Man Threatens to Blow Up Van Near White House

NewsMax.com Wires
Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005

WASHINGTON - A man upset over custody of his child threatened to blow up his van a block from the White House on Tuesday, prompting a 4 1/2-hour standoff with police, authorities said.

The incident ended peacefully after police used a robot to deliver a telephone to the man and talked him into surrendering.

Secret Service spokesman Jonathan Cherry said that the man was taken into custody by the Metro Police Department at about 8 p.m. EST.
Portions of several streets were closed during the standoff, creating traffic gridlock in downtown Washington. A motorcade carrying President Bush was diverted to a different White House entrance. Bush was returning from a speech elsewhere in the city.

Debra Weierman, spokeswoman for the FBI's Washington field office, said the man claimed to have 15 gallons of gasoline. He said he would "blow it up if he doesn't get his child back," she said.

The man was not immediately identified. He was driving a red van with Michigan license plates.

The standoff began at about 3:30 p.m. at the corner of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, along the parade route that Bush will travel after his inauguration Thursday.

Nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution and police moved in vehicles to block the van.

Father in the name of Jesus I pray for a million angels to battle, guard, protect and ensure the safety of the President and all who participate in the inaugural event. In the name of Jesus I pray that any attacks against the President or other leaders, against the police or the crowds would be quickly revealed by Your Holy Spirit before anything happens, and that those involved be brought swiftly to justice.

I pray that President Bush speak words inspired by Your Holy Spirit, that he would give You credit, honor and praise in Jesus name.

I pray for the next 4 years of this administration. I pray that the Holy Spirit would be the co-commander in chief of the military forces. I pray for a new cabinet position--Secretary of the Holy Spirit to guide this administration.

I pray that all legal battles aimed at stopping prayer be quickly dismissed now in the name of Jesus.

I pray that the entire world be watching our President as he proclaims the word of God that guides this country.

Father I pray that You open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings on this nation, that your gospel be preached to all nations from our country.

Thank You Father. Amen! Amen!

Lord we stand in unity for the safety of the President of the United States and his family.
We claim Your promise over him :

The Lord is your keeper,
The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil:
He shall preserve your soul.
The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

In Jesus name. Amen

I was just given a couple of "mini-visions." I wish I had paid more attention in school.

~I saw a long building like the one in the second photo from the top of these you have posted here. It looked like the spirits of the men standing around were being stirred at exactly the same time.~

Next

~I saw a skull cap coming sort of in a circular direction from the right hand side (east?) toward me through a red mist.~

I don't know the interpretations yet.

Lord, watch over our people and keep our President safe in Jesus' Name....Amen.

Lord, I come before you now and ask you to be with President Bush and his family, put your warrior angels about them and protect them. Pour your annointing over them and fill them to overflowing with your spirit. Let the blood of Jesus flow throughout the White House and the government, and purify the leaders of this country. Give President Bush wisdom to govern, and wisdom to make decisions that will glorify you. Let our country stand for you God, and let each and every decision made in that White House show the grace and protection of Jesus. Just as you did with the Israelites, let the battles you lead this country into be won by you, and let the glory of God shine down upon this country. Bring to light any evil, and pour out the grace and healing of God. Bless President Bush abundantly, in all areas of his life. Give him your divine protection. Give him the peace of God which passes all understanding. Give him your guidance and lift him up. I ask in Jesus Name, Amen.

LOL... if the muslim nations see post #16 they are going to think we make our women dress in burkahs and veils also! !

Sorry, I have a twisted sense of humor sometimes...

Father, stand with George W. Bush and guide his decisions and actions as he serves the United States for four more years as our President. Protect him with Your strong arm of defense and place an hedge of Your protection around him to keep him from the evil one. Surround him with a wall of Your Fire and be his strong tower that he can run to in times of trouble, and walk to when he just needs to speak with You. Encamp and activate the angels around him to fight the fights that he faces while in office. Free them to minister to him and strengthen him as he serves and as he lives his life. Father, Thank You for the protections You have given him and his Family and Friends in times of uncertainty and fear. Please continue to protect him and the USA during this next 4 year term of service and lead him directly through the Spirit to seek Your Face and Wisdom before all others. In the name of Jesus, AMEN!

Lord, I ask that you will bless him and his family, that you will surround them with angels and the prayers of the saints that he may be kept safe in your care. Lord, I pray that you will provide him with Divine Guidance and knowledge of what his Plan in your Plan for America is. Lord, move mightely during this second term of office and turn the entire nation back to the God-fearing God-Loving Country it was when this Nation was founded.
Lord, we call forth your Children to Pray for this Man, this Government this Nation. Lord, awaken the sleepers and call them to battle, for there is no limit to what you can accomplish in this Nation if your Children will pray.
Holy Spirit go into all the corners of America and call forth the children to pray. Lord, set America on your Solid Ground. Give the President immediate Victory in IRAQ. Bring freedom and peace to that Nation. Lord, it is in the Name of Jesus I ask. AMEN

I pray that our leaders will all sleep soundly tonight, knowing Your eyes are always open and You can awaken anyone with hardly a thought. Thank You for being the One sitting on the throne.

Thank You, Lord, for being God. Amen.

Prayer at the inaugural of President George W. Bush
President Bush approved of this prayer

Prayer for the nation: inaugural benediction
Jan 20, 2005
WASHINGTON (BP)--Kirbyjon Caldwell, senior pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church in Houston, delivered the benediction prayer at the close of President Bush's inauguration Jan. 20.

Following is a transcript:

"Oh Lord God Almighty, the supply and supplier of faith and freedom, how excellent is Your name in all the earth. You are great and greatly to be praised. God, as we conclude this 55th inaugural ceremony, we conclude it with an attitude of thanksgiving. Thank You for protecting America's borders. After all, the Psalmist reminds us, unless You, O God, guard the territory, our efforts will be in vain.

"Thank You for our armed service personnel. And it is with unswerving thanksgiving that we pause to remember the persons who have made the ultimate sacrifice to help ensure America's safety. Thank You, O God, for surrounding our personnel, their families, their friends and our allies with Your favor and Your faithfulness.

"Deploy Your hosts from heaven so that Your will for America will be performed on earth as it is already perfected in heaven. I confess that Your face will shine upon the United States of America, granting us social peace and economic prosperity, particularly for the weary and the poor.

"I also confess, God, that each American's latter days will be better than their former days. Let it be unto us according to Your Word.

"Rally the Republicans, the Democrats and the Independents around Your common good so that America will truly become one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty, justice and equal opportunity for all -- including the least, the last and the lost.

"Bless every elected official right now. God, I declare Your blessings to shower upon our president, George W. Bush. Bless him, his family and his administration. I once again declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper.

"God, forgive us for becoming so ensnarled in petty partisan politics that we miss Your glory and block our purpose. Deliver us from the evil one, from evil itself and from the mere appearance of evil.

"Give us clean hearts, so that we might have clean agendas, clean priorities and programs and even clean financial statements.

"Now, unto You, O God, the One who always has been and always will be, the one King of kings and the true power broker, we glorify and honor You.

Respecting persons of all faiths,
I humbly submit this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
."

A Good and Faithful
Confidence-Keeper
A conversation with the Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, friend and pastor to President Bush

The Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell is pastor of Windsor Village United Methodist Church, the largest United Methodist congregation in the nation, with 15,000 members. Caldwell is also a friend of President Bush's. They met when Bush was the governor of Texas; Bush admired Caldwell's work in using faith-based programs run out of his church to meet social needs. Over the years, they became friends, even though Caldwell is not a Republican. Why? Both are Texans. Both are Methodists. Both earned MBAs from renowned business schools. And both have a passion for faith-based programs. Beyond that, they both are known as straight-shooting CEO-types who don't get tangled up in a lot of introspection.

Today, Caldwell occasionally prays with the president on the phone, and Bush has long pointed to Caldwell's work as a positive example of what can be accomplished through local churches. Caldwell introduced Bush at the 2000 Republican National Convention, performed the benediction at the first inaugural, and spoke at the Sept. 14, 2001 National Day of Mourning. This year, he is again delivering the inaugural benediction.

Beliefnet senior editor Deborah Caldwell (no relation) spoke with Rev. Caldwell about his experiences as one of the president's spiritual confidantes.

After the 2000 Inauguration, a national brouhaha erupted because of how you ended your prayer. What do you remember about that controversy?

I don’t think I got the complete brunt of it, but from all indications it was surely a brouhaha within some sectors--and the brouhaha was over praying in the name of Jesus. Quite frankly, I had no intention of excluding or insulting anyone or any faith community. It was a very benign mistake. At the end of the prayer I said – I think this is what really agitated some people – I said, “Let all who agree say ‘Amen.’” Well, that’s how I’ve typically ended prayers--when I said let all who agree, the “all” meant all who agreed with the essence of the prayer, not all who agreed in the name of the name that’s above all others, Jesus the Christ.
I would never be that insensitive in that type of setting. But given what was said and given what was heard, I can completely understand why folk would be agitated, if not insulted. As a kid says, “My bad.” I will be more considerate on Thursday.

Eight months later, the president called on you again, this time to speak at the National Day of Mourning on Sept. 14, 2001. What do you remember of that service at the National Cathedral? Was it a spiritual experience?

I gotta tell you—first of all, I just prayed a lot that I wouldn’t mess up. And I prayed that I would be used by God to accomplish God’s purpose during that particular worship service. And then I literally blocked out the fact that people were viewing this service around the country and around the world. I was focused on the people I could see.

What really helped me was that there is one camera in that cathedral—just one. That one camera was placed inconspicuously, which de-emphasized the fact that it was being watched worldwide, and emphasized the fact that it was a worship experience. Now, the architecture of the building itself, in my humble biased opinion, did not readily lend itself to a preached moment because it is so very long. It is virtually impossible to make eye contact with anybody past halfway down the center aisle.

Do you feel a sense of responsibility as a spiritual guide for the president and the top people in government?

Definitely not the top people in government. To the extent that the president has reached out to me during these history-making moments, I am extremely honored—and honored is probably an understatement. He has reached out to me not once or twice, but three or four times now.

I think he’s obviously comfortable in asking me to perform these tasks. I have been a good and faithful steward both of God’s confidence and of his, and I hope I can continue to be used by the Lord to bless the people.

Thank You Father for a man unafraid to speak the name of Jesus before all nations and religions. Thank You Father for a man who will do so twice in the world stage and not be ashamed or embarassed to do so. Thank you Father for a man of God who is unafraid to offend the sensitivities of those who claim to be 'politically correct'. Thank You for a man whose integrity is such that he has no fear of ridicule or censure but speaks clearly and openly to You and to Your Son. Thank You Father for this man and his connection to George W Bush as friend and confidant. Thank You Father for showing the world that you can be of different political parties and share a Faith in Jessus without spitting at each other. Thank You Father for Pastor Caldwell. AMEN!

Dear Lord, my prayers are with the President during these Inaugural events, and I thank You that the prayer was included. I thank You that Kirbyjon Caldwell included the Name of Jesus and refused to be afraid or ahsamed. I pray that these things will be a witness to the nation and the world. It has been prophesied that becuase a praying man is in the Whithouse, revival will now come to America. I pray that happens. In Jesus Name, amen.

sometimes difficult decisions have to be made, although I belive the war in iraq was unjust and unlawful, it was necessary to remove the evil that was Sadam Hussain, he was a genocidal dictator, and many many poor people have suffered and died during his rule.
I hope his god give him the punishment he deserves.

Dear Lord

I stand in the gap for this young man. No matter what he does or where he goes Father you will be there. Father, if he doesn't know your love send people who will share your gospel and the love of Jesus. Thank you Lord for this young man's loyalty to his country and to those in authority, particularly President Bush.

This young man has paid a high price to defend his country Lord. Let his bravery an courage not be forgotten. Lord, for all the young men and women who have fought for their country or still fighting, encourage them and bring words of encouragement from others. It is not wrong to tell these people who much we appreciate them. Dear Lord, let these people know that we appreciate how much they have sacrificed for us and our freedom.

Lord, as I sit here typing this, I also stand in the gap for my country, Australia and the men and women fighting alongside their Allies. I pray that these people will also know how much we value their sacrifices as well. Lord, I thank you for Godly men and women in the services who are praying right now for their fellow soldiers and commrades in arms. Give them encouragement Lord that they are not alone in their prayers.

I pray for President Bush and the US government officials who are making decisions daily that affect our lives both in the US and in Australia. Guide their steps and make them accountable to you Lord. Any evil desires Lord, will be rooted out.

I also pray for Prime Minister John Howard, who stands alongside President Bush. He proclaims that you are Lord. Father, keep him steadfast in his faith and cause him to prosper spiritually.

For all the allied countries I pray for Godly desires and for their leaders to be kept safe and secure and any evil desires will be stopped in its tracks.

Thank you in Jesus' mighty name.

Amen

Thank you O God for keep Mr. Bush safe during his inaguration. Continue to keep him safe during his entire term and help him to make the best decisions, the decisions that you would have him make for our country. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

"God, forgive us for becoming so ensnarled in petty partisan politics that we miss Your glory and block our purpose. Deliver us from the evil one, from evil itself and from the mere appearance of evil.

Dear Lord, thank You for this young man's sacrifice that keeps our country free. Thank You for the sacrifice of ALL in the military. Remind those who say that President Bush shouldn't have sent them to war, that they applaud and salute him. That they agreed to serve the Commander and Chief when they joined the military, and that they carry out his commands, because that is their role in the military. You can not support the troops without supporitng out President. Let this young man be an example to all. Just at the Mother of the marine who told me "What a hero," regarding Bush. She understood the sacrifice, even though her son was over there.

Bless this young man and his family with household salvation. Let them know of Your sacrifice, of giving Your very life, to die that we can win our freedom. Bring this entire marine's family to the foot of the Cross, if they are not already saved. I ask that each may know You and walk with You intimately. I pray that this young man will have You to comfort and guide him all the days of his life.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing and answering. In Jesus Name, amen.

Father, I thank you for this young Marine and his sacrifice that he has made for all of us Americans. I praise God for his faithfulness to our country and to our President George W Bush. I Praise God for this young man, He stands taller then all of the rest, as he is standing up in the inside. I pray for his recovery of strength will continue and that he will know you Dear Lord as his savior and that he will be able to tell others Dear Lord how you were with him through it all. Praise be to God for this young man. I have five nephews in the services and this will be an encouragemen to them as they visit this site as well. They are overseas and need protection. I will bring them all before our Lord daily

First, I pray if this young man does not know Christ, that he be saved. Then, I pray that the Lord God put favor of him in the right people, so that he can live the life and fulfill the destiny God has prepared for him. But first of all, I pray that he find and know Christ. Can I pray for our world? That we would all show more forgiveness toward each other, as Jesus instructed us to do.

thank you to all those who serve and have served our country. thank you for all sacrifices you have made so that the media can be as, (unfortunatly), biased as it is, and so those protestors can protest so loudly. without you we wouldn't be able to do this. without you we would all be worried that neighbors and even family and friends would turn us in for saying the wrong thing. thank you to those who are thinking about serving. i know i couldn't do it. i pray God's protection on all of you.

Father bless these men and women who day after day lay their precious lives on the line and sacrifice unselfishly for our liberty and freedom. The young soldier could be wallowing in self pity but he chose to stand and honor our Commander and Chief who wants Americans and those in other countries to have peace, love and joy. This young man may not have legs to stand on, but he is as strong as Goliath in his spirit. The consequences he suffered are minor for he will be rewarded greatly by our Father.

May our Father protect those who are in harms way, and protect the leader of our country as well. Instill the knowledge and ability into our leaders and soldiers to make our country and other countries followers of The Lord. And they will know the hand of our God is upon them. I pray that they praise only our Father and be thankful for the love and mercy he shows us.

God Bless You for saluting our President. My son is in Mosul, Iraq and I pray for him daily. I hear the negitivity of people saying we shouldn't be there. Well, I am proud to be fortunate enough to have a wonderful son who can be where he is in the fight for freedom and protection of our nation.

I thank God that you were there to see our President and I know that he will bless you. I will pray for you daily as I do my son. If you by chance get this email through the grapevine, my son' name is Zach he is my "armyman" and I love him very much. Please pray for him too.

Again God Bless You Soldier.

Father God in the name of Jesus I come to you and I ask You to reveal Your will for this man now. I cannot understand but You do Lord. I cannot even find the words but You know this man's need. I cannot imagine what this soldier has gone through, but You know Lord.

I ask You to open the windows of heaven and pour out Your blessings on this man today. Meet his physical needs and his financial needs. Meet his spiritual needs and use this courageous man as a witness for Your kingdom.

Reward this man today here on earth and also in heaven, in Jesus name I pray.

Dear Lord,

Please let this brave young Marine know how much he is honored and respected and loved. Please fill his heart with peace and love and let him know that he is a precious gift and a hero. If his heart is heavy at times because his life is now changed and his earthly body is no longer the same, please be with him and fill him with hope and faith and the knowledge that he's never alone and that everything works out for good. My heart goes out to the troops over in in the Middle East, I keep them and their families in my heart, in my thoughts, in my prayers.

Sir,

I don't know your name yet, but I have seen your beauty and dedication. I have seen this picture of you dressed in your best. What I didn't see was what you had to go through to help insure our freedom in the United States, or to protect another people somewhere else. I didn't see your pictures when you were little. I didn't see you sign up to serve.

Thank you.

You didn't just bring dignity to the crowd, you brought honor to all of the people when you stood at attention and saluted the leader of our country.

You are awesome.

Sincerely your's in Christ,

Mrs. Alan Alexander

Lord, lift this man up and set him in a high tower, high above every obstacle in his life. Keep the corners of his mouth turned up in joy every day. Let him see the little things that You put around him, that are there just for his eyes to see. Give him all the things money can't buy.

Supply every need for him and his decendants forever, Lord. Let his family have joy always, and peace that passes all understanding. Give him the Bright and Morning Star!

Put a fire in his heart and keep the light shining around him. Let him lead many people to Your throne with his testimonies.

In Jesus' Name we ask these things....Amen.

Father, in Jesus' Name we thank You for this young man who has given his life over and over again to serve our country. Thank You for giving him the authority and dignity all of his office demands under You.

Watch over him all of his life. Let him make all the right decisions. Be in him and upon him at all times. Hold him in Your Right Hand. Shelter him from every storm. Lift him over every obstacle.

In Jesus' Name we thank You for answering all of our prayers for him and his family and his administration. Thank You for President George Bush. Thank You for all the people.

Thank You for giving us one nation under You (God). Undivided. With liberty and justice. For all.....

I said a prayer for you.

As a Canadian, it is no less disheartening to see young American men and women who return from the battlefield with physical and emotional scars. My step-Dad was a Marine in the Vietnam war. He was wounded twice...the second wound as result of a land mine. It seems unfair to some people that the young men do the fighting and the older men do all the talking. Everybody has a job to do, and God chose you to be a defender of the nation. Your sacrifice for freedom and your steadfast devotion to the commander and chief is an example to all of us on how we should be. My step-Dad bought me a Marine shaving kit bag the last time I was in D.C.
It reminds me of the best of the best, getting outside the box, discipline, courage, and respect. Thank you for the things that you have already done with your life and for keeping your head up. I will pray that God will give you the strength during the times you have none. He says" Fear not for I am with ... Iwill uphold you with My righteous right hand."

My heart is with you,

Jason Beeksma

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your service to our country and to the world. I am a registered nurse who worked for the Department Of Veterans Affairs in Two VA Medical Centers for more than seven years. Most of my time I spent in Spinal Cord Injury. My boyfiriend is a former marine who broke his neck in a car accident post service. You have suffered a tragic loss, and our hearts and prayers go out to you, and to your family. It is beautiful to see you in your dress blues, honoring your The Corp and your Country. Go with God, today and always....

Dear Lord, I humbly pray and ask in Jesus' name that you richly bless this young mans life in every honorable way that you see fit. Cup him in your devine hand and guide him, protect him and enable him to use his honorable sacrifice to You and this country to bring others to love and honor you. Allow him to use his earthly body to glorify you and his testimony to strengthen himself and others. We do not know dear God how he got there, what he endured, and how many lives he changed by being there, but we see and honor him because he WAS THERE!! I ask you God right now in the name of Jesus that Jerry and his staff be able to locate this beautiful soul and honor him in your name. Amen

Jerry, thank you for this site. I am thankful I met you at 134th st. Revival. Your teaching opened up major doors in my life just at the right time.
To the soldier, Thank you for your unrepayable sacrifice. I can imagine you remember those last moments just before your accident and you may even think about how you could have avoided it, but someday you will come to terms with it. I will pray God quickly heals your emotions and your heart, but know this, God has an awesome plan for you. Things like this don't just happen to anyone. He knows you. Draw near to God he WILL give you the strength to get through this. It is obvious you are a strong willed man and you are going to press forward and conquere all the battles ahead. God is going to bless you greatly! Thank you for helping to keep me and my family safe. Angela

This soldier has just got to know Jesus. This man has lost almost everything he has in battle, yet is still fighting. To me it is a wonderful example of the love of God and country. How else could he show so much courage?

Lord, bless this unknown soldier. Bless his body, mind and soul. Let Your peace be within his heart.
To me, he is a shining example of "where your treasures lie, there is your heart." His courage has touched so many, now touch him Lord in the deepest, most beautiful way.

Marine has Red, White and Blue Ball
Wounded Houstonian takes a break from rehab to see the inauguration

Reuters

Janna Dunkel of Sugar Land wipes away tears as her son, Marine Cpl. Casey Owens of Houston, salutes during President Bush's inauguration speech.
WASHINGTON - The last thing Marine Cpl. Casey Owens remembers of Iraq, he was riding in a Humvee somewhere near the Syrian border, looking for a wounded soldier. An anti-tank mine exploded before Owens could find him.

Three weeks later, the 23-year-old from Houston woke up at the Bethesda Naval hospital outside Washington with more than 200 shrapnel wounds, a broken jaw and a broken collarbone.

Since last September, both of his legs have been amputated.

His mother moved here to help take care of him. He's learning to walk again.

On Thursday, though, Owens took a break from rehab and joined the crowds in near-freezing temperatures to watch as his commander-in-chief, fellow Texan George W. Bush, was sworn into office for a second term.

Sitting in a wheelchair outside the U.S. Capitol and clutching a coveted ticket given to him by House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Sugar Land, Owens saluted as the ceremony concluded with the national anthem.

"I'm a big supporter," he said later of Bush. "He's done a good job."

'A great time'

Thursday evening, waiting for his sister Lezleigh Kleibrink, of Dallas, and his mother Janna Dunkel, of Sugar Land, to put on their makeup for the Red, White and Blue Inaugural Ball, Owens said he was glad to be part of history.

"It was definitely a great time," he said, "a once-in-a-lifetime event."

Owens, a graduate of Houston's Mayde Creek High School, was just starting his second year of college at the University of Texas-San Antonio when terrorists attacked the East Coast on Sept. 11, 2001.

He dropped out of school to join the Marine Corps.

"I wanted to do something to serve my country and something I could be proud of," he said.

By September 2004, he was fighting for his life in a hospital in Germany.

Family friends back home contacted DeLay's office, which helped arrange for Owens' family to get passports quickly so they could join him overseas.

'I want to go back'

A few weeks later, Owens was flown back to the United States and his life changed forever.

Several buddies didn't make it home at all. Owens, who was awarded a Purple Heart, said he doesn't like to talk about the loss of his friends.

"That was pretty hard," he said.

He keeps in touch with his old platoon in Iraq via e-mail. "I want to go back," he said. "I miss them."

As for his injuries, he said, "I'm doing pretty good. I have no regrets. It's just part of the job."

Last fall, while undergoing physical therapy at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Owens met President Bush.

"He came to see patients at the hospital and we talked for a while," he said. "He asked me about my injuries. He knew I was from Texas, so we talked about that."

Later, DeLay invited Owens and his family to attend the inauguration and ball.

Asked about his feelings on the war, Owens said, "I don't have a big opinion on that."

"I just do what I'm told by the president, the commander-in-chief," he said. "He's my boss, so I do what I'm told."

For now, Owens said his goal is to walk again.

Then he'll head back to Houston and go back to college.

He wants to study business or maybe physical therapy, he said, "to help people like me."

A note from his sister Lezleigh.
After the parade .......
Casey and I headed back downtown for the first Ball, the Commander-In-Chief Ball. It was an amazing sight to see so many military men and women in one room, all honoring their Commander.

When we walked in, it was almost overwhelming and we figured we’d take a turn around the room and leave….and then we walked in and Casey was swarmed. ........

We had decided that we needed to head to the other ball we were attending, and as we were leaving a secret servicewoman stopped us and asked if we’d stay 15 minutes longer—the President was on his way!

We headed back into the ballroom, and worked our way to the front of the floor—everyone was nice enough to let Casey get up to the front where he could see.

No sooner had we gotten there than the Presidential March was played and Pres. Bush and our First Lady were on the stage RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!!!

They were waving to the crowd, when Laura spotted Casey and I! Her face lit up and she waved enthusiastically at us!!

Pres. Bush had begun his speech to everyone, and as he spoke he looked over and saw Casey—and winked at him!

I don’t think that Laura knew this, because he said something to the crowd, which made everyone cheer, and she started ribbing him, pointing Casey out. And over the microphone, he said, “I know, I know, I saw him!”

He then said to the crowd, “And I see that some of my friends from Walter Reed made it here tonight!” and the crowd just cheered!!

He said something about it being wonderful that Casey made it, that he knew Casey and was proud of Casey!!!

He then said a few other things, they danced with members of the Army, and then with each other.

As he was walking back to leave, he STOPPED AND TALKED TO CASEY!! He asked how he was doing, how the progress on his legs was, and that he was proud of him! We were both just absolutely floored and honored!!!

Oh dear heavenly Father, thank you so much for the courage of this young man. Bless his life, Lord and allow him to see your goodness in his life. Bless his family and meet every need they have. Meet his needs every one Lord. Pour out your sweet peace and be comfort to him. Bring healing to his body and restore his emotional health. Just love on him Father as only you can. In Jesus mighty name. And Lord, please continue to be with and care for all of our brave men and women who are giving of themselves for the betterment of the Iraqi people. And those who are injured will need all of what heaven can bestow upon them to restore their emotional health and their physical and spiritual health! Thank you Father for all your goodness.

Thanks for sharing those photos. The one of the crowd opened my eyes to see how many honored our President. It seems the media barely said much good about it here in WA state.
The picture of the young man was a reminder of what the cost is of our freedom and how many are putting their lives on the line for us. What are we doing with that freedom?

Father God, while in my own time of struggle, I am not sure what to say.

Lord, I ask You to bless President Bush. I ask you to lead this man who is leading our country. Please let this man be a shining example of your Son Jesus to the people of this nation and to the world. Lead him, Lord, guide his thoughts, actions, and his very steps.

Father, I ask you to bless this young Marine. With what he has left, he shows that he still submits in respect to our country's Commander In Chief, set in place by You our Supreme Lord and King. Lord, I ask for a special and great blessing for this Marine and his entire family.

Lord, I also ask that You use this young Marine, his story, and these pictures to show your Truth to this nation. So many have strayed from You, or have never even served You. Lord, please turn this nation back to you.

In Jesus holy name,

Amen--so shall it be

I am guilty of this as well, but we just have to be reminded that everyday there are those who sacrifice it all for our well beings. Thank you for your committement to your country and to show us, that things could always be worse.
