"Sorry But..." An Errant Manner I Think.

If we say sorry that's enough, but if we then add "but" then we wipe out the previous and say that really we were justified. Unlike Adam and Eve we should not make excuses. Just admit to fault. Not "but" instead, "and" I am humble or something... Or "this is why I erred"...
What do you think?
