Pete. Is he the man God ordained for me?

Even in the midst of the seizure of my federal refund, I used some of my state refund to book a flight to Phoenix Arizona to be with Pete while he's out there visiting his mother and friends. Of course, I will be asking for prayers for this trip to be blessed later on. I strongly believed that it could not be God's will for me to be empty tripted (like empty handed). I felt that if I couldn't go to LA, I could at least go to Phoenix. I had been debating between the two trips but decided to go to LA. Now I have made plans to go to Phoenix in May instead. I believe that I need this trip as a retreat for rejievenation and relaxation and getting closer to God as I admire his creation. The LA trip would have involved more exertion and less relaxation. Like my trip last August to see Ann, I will not have to pay for expenses like hotel and rental car. I will be fed by Pete's friends a couple of nights including a pool party Bar-B-Q. I will be sure to bring plenty of Christian books to read by the pool as the desert breeze blows thorugh my hair.

I am at a dilemma on whether I should fall in love with Pete or not. I know the seriousness of a marriage covenant. The world from their perspective can divorce their spouse if its unfit. True Christians know that once you've tied the knot, there are no second chances. I have prayed over and over asking God to spare me from marrying the wrong man, but that if he chose Pete for me to make it work. There are so many unhappy marriages. People either divorce or if they know they can't, they are stuck, miserable and unhappy. It has been my lifelong dream to be happily married and to have a family. There is no happiness in being married to someone you are not in love with, however. I also believe that in a God ordained relationship, there is not supposed to be attraction at first. The people are to fall in love based on personality compatibility and sharing of values and interests, not just in looks or even chemistry. Pete may be the the man I have been praying for. I have strong convictions in my heart that he is probably the man that God hand selected for me. He is not a man I would call adorable or my dream guy, but a hand selected mate by God man probably isn't supposed to be. He is slightly attractive and tall, 6' 2". I have in recent years prayed to God for a husband that I would be happy with. We have a lot in common and we think alike. We get along beautifully and share everything. He listens to me. Pete and I have developed a true friendship and we continue to build a foundation that is Christ centered. God knows more than I do who I would be happy with. The truth is, that I think I am already falling for him, but it takes guts to bring the relationship to the next level. He and I both have been talking about becomming serious and steady. I am waiting on God to tell me when to umm... ahem... kiss him if ever.

Just think how beautiful it will be to be in beautiful Arizona with a God ordained man, whom you are also in love with. It is up to God, but it would be so romantic kissing in the desert breeze as the sun sets over the mountainous horizon.

I am praying for God's will in this situation. I know he wants me to be happy. God Bless You All!

Lord Jesus, I really want Janet to be happy, too.

You said to ask for what we want and I want you to send Janet a wonderful and faithful and committed husband who will love her for the rest of her life.

Bless them both as they work out whether they are to be together.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Dear Janet,

I have been married to my High School sweetheart for 38 years. I have seen a lot of marriages come and go.

I truly believe that any man and woman who are filled with the Holy Spirit and walking faithfully with Jesus can live in wonderful harmony.

If you are both following the same Lord, and submitting to one another in love, I don't think you can go wrong.

Rest in God and let him choose you.

In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Thanks for sharing this Janet. I have been wondering about Pete. If you two are such good friends, that is REALLY awesome. That is what a Christ centered relationship must be based on. That intense "in love" feeling leaves in about two years according to Gary Chapman, who I saw interviewed by Joyce Meyer on this topic. If you are FREINDS when you don't feel "in love" then that sounds really promising.

I am praying that God helps you make the right choice. Since I am 43 and single, it is obvious that my philosephy is the same as yours: I do not want to be unhappy in marriage. I can relate to your concerns and will keep you in prayer.

Thank you so much for your blessed support Rachel and Jerina. I'll have to check the Joyce Meyer site to see if those interviews are still listed. I don't usually watch the interviews. I wached the two with Mark Hankins, because I needed to believe God for my breakthroughs and thought he was great. Neat country accent too. I didn't think the Five Languages of Love applied to me since I didn't have a husband. I am now considering getting books on Christian dating and Christian relationships as well as maybe some Christian romance novels!

If we do become serious, I will have to introduce him to my conservative Republican and protective uncle. I love my uncle dearly, despite our opposing politcal views and I want to respect his wishes. Check out this post-> http://www.annointed.net/pn_vb.php?...0078#post160078 I want my family involved in my wedding. Kinda like Father of the Bride or Meet the Parents.

Please also pray for my trip to Phoenix to join Pete while he's out there visiting his mother. God Bless You!
