Can't receive emails

My email system is outlook express, and lately I keep getting "No new messages." This has been happening sine 4/13/05. Yet someone told me they have sent me emails. Any ideas why my inbox might not be able to receive emails? I was in tools, checking both "options" and "accounts" for any box to check or uncheck. Just don't have a clue why I'm not receiving the messages I am sent. My server is ncplus.net. Do you think I should call the server help line? Or is it something I did on my computer.
They just updated my Spamkiller (MacAfee), and whenever I send a message out, they scan it.
Is there anyway Spamkiller could be blocking my incoming messages? But surely they wouldn't call everything spam.
How about ZoneAlarm? My Sister told lme sometimes ZoneAlarm locks up and stops certain functions from working.
Any suggestions or helps???
I'm not sure how to contact outlook express, as if I can't receive incoming mail, how can I receive their reply to me? I did check a box that will allow my server to also get copies of any new emails being sent. And if I was on a different computer, like at the college nearby, I could read all the messages sent since the 13th on the ncplus website. My Sister said outlook express will not let you have them in both accounts, except now that I checked that box maybe I can in future.
Hmmm....
This is all so very puzzling. What would suddenly stop my emails from being received?

Do you ever get any notifications as tho your email address isn't valid or other such things? I notice when a connection between my computor and the server I go thru becomes weak , it won't recognize your address until the signal strengthens again. I hear this and other things happen when theres interuptions with connections or servers that way. Oh... I've also been told certain kinds of virus or spam blockers can unintentionally suspect some emails and block them from going thru. Don't know hwy, but have been told to avoid such things. I'll keep you in my prayers over this, as this little is all I know about it. GodBlessSis!!

I haven't had any connection or server problems recently. The only thing different, was that MadAfee updated itself, including the spamkiller function. I wondered if it could somehow block ALL emails, as I am not even getting emails from friends.
I will check more on these problems later, as I need to leave for work in a few minutes. I know so little, too, and that's why I sometimes post in here with problems. I don't know where to begin to start to troubleshoot, usually.

Well, the "spam" type of protection have heard can cause interuptions in recieving some emails. Don't know if the kind you mentioned, but could be that. Thats why I was warned not to use any spam programs as such for that possibility. Ir came up because I was asking my source for computor help why some email addresses go thru and others won't. That "spam" question was the first thing they asked about. But, I don't have any unless some other site installed it while visiting, tho never saw any references to it. Other than that, that is it my friend. Sorry. Maybe ask our computor wiz Shawn, maybe he could help. God Bless!!

Hi Jerena...
Don't forget you can go to the site you have your email through... like hotmail or ncplus... and physically get your e-mails without using the Out. Exp.
You are not completely cut off from them.
I go get mine from time to time just so I can refreash my passwords in my memory or to change them.
In your Out. Exp., (on the left side where your files are kept) go to the names of your separate email boxes and highlight them... i.e. "Local Folder" this is usually Hotmail... and make sure that "inbox" is checked for recieving mail.
The Out. Exp. will only recieve those files that are checked and will tell you that there is no mail if they are not checked.
Go to the MSN site and run an update on your computer.
There may be an update for your version of Out. Exp.
Go to MSN Home page ... scroll down and on the left will be "Windows Update" under the "Thecnology" heading, click there and follow the directions.
MacAfee should have a live help that uses chat format, you might try there.
Personally, I won't allow MacAfee anywhere near my puter! But I know other people love it.
You may need to reload your Out. Exp. from your XP disk but try other stuff first.

Lord, as I cannot offer any technical advice due to my lack of knowledge in this area too, please provide the answers and help she needs to receive her emails.

Thanks, Carol, Remnant7 and Christian Commando. It's nice to know so many people care. These puter things can be SO frustrating! Anyway, I checked a box today that says to allow my server to get a copy of all emails, so now, in future they should all go to the ncplus account. The problem is, once I set up outlook express, the ncplus inbox always said, "Folder empty." Outlook express likes to let you only get them through their account. I like outlike simply for the fontls, colors, sizing, etc. I can use. Ncplus is boring. I like to express myself creatively sometimes or use emphasis. Anyway, I will try the advice, Carol, and thanks for the prayers everyone.
This is a minor detail, but I was SO depressed tonight about many things and this wasn't helping.

In box IS highlighted under "folders," so it isn't that. I just don't get it. I guess I can try doing the update on the MSN page. But it's like I accidetnly blocked something, or checked the wrong box or unchecked a box that should be cheked, yet I can find NOTHING that sounds anything like don't receive emails. Hmmmm.....
The other option, which I will try, is going on the MacAfee and ZoneAlarm sites, and see if I accidently blocked something or THEY blocked something or I denied access to something I needed.... I know you have to be sure your email account name is typed in letter perfect, too, or you can't send or receive emails. But it seems to be spelled just so.

Well, it's not Spamkiller, because they said they have blocked 0 emails.
What's really weird is, ncplus.net is not even listed in ZoneAlarm as a program that I use. Yet, I'm on here now, typing this, so I AM connected through them.
My Sister said she doesn't like outlook express, so use another mail service.... I like them for the fonts, colors, sizse, etc. My ncplus account is boring. But at least I can read the remails!
This has never happened to me, in all my history with computers.
I am going to call the ncplus customer service line and see what they can tell me.
I asked someone if they received my last email to them, and they said "Yes." So I can send. I just can't receive. Or outlook express is telling me I haven't received....
I guess I'll have to go to the college and read my messages there in my ncplus account, as for some reason, when outlook express is on your computer, they won't let messages go to ncplus. Even though I checked a box that is supposed to allow my server to get a copy of all the messages, the inbox of ncplus is empty.
If ncplus can't tell me anything, maybe I can get a phone number for the outlook express folks.
If all of these plans fail, I will have to get a new email service set up.

I already learned the hard way, if you are able to send email out, anything sent to you is out there somewhere, waiting to be put into your box. After finding out it was my wireless transciever for satelite was causing the problem and showed how to reset it, I was flooded with over 13 emails. So... they are out there.... somewhere. I'll keep praying as well. God Bless JeriRose!

JeriRose, for the greatest emailing ever, 'mo fun, 'mo selections of all kinds of goodies (wallpaper, fonts, noises, smilies, etc.), go to IncrediMail and download it for free. You will LOVE it! I know I do. Mine is incorporated into my Outlook Express (which I happen to like myself, but is totally enhanced with IncrediMail). Let me know what you think once you've checked it out. :-)

What is your opinion of McAfee vs. Norton? I don't know enough to know the difference, but I had a free trial with my computer for McAfee and they want to know if I want to order... don't think I need it though, I've got Norton.
